Element client crash

Dear creators of this game,
I would like to make a report about a very annoying problem I'm having with PWI.
Ever since I bought my new Windows 7 PC I have been having element client crashes whilst playing PWI. I have no idea why this keeps happening again and again. Sometimes I stay in for half an hour and sometimes no more than 5 minutes. It doesn't matter if I play with my Seeker on this account or if I play with my Archer on another account (forum name: Theezeefje).
I have given the element client the order to run on Windows 7 but it makes no difference.
I would really like to know what is causing the crashes and why it keeps happening again and again, especially with the non-consequent "logged-in" times.
And maybe if you could tell me if it's not even my fault, but just a bug in the element client or the whole system. I am clueless.
Excitedly waiting for your reply,

Maybe if the OP provided actual information someone would bother to help.
Unfortunately, they didn't, so no one can, even if they wanted to."No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style." - Steven Brust, Yendi

Yeah, I'm that good. b:chuckle0 -
Are you running the game as administrator?
Have you added the client to your anti-virus exceptions?
Have you downloaded DirectX 9.0c.dll yet?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

We must assume that his files are currently capable of letting him play. Aka...he has all Pre-Req programs that can allow him to open the client. Are you running the game as administrator?

These things are Irrelevant. Without Directx 9.0 game cant properly open, game usually sets up on asking for admin request if you set it originally. Anti-Virus would not let him open his client at all and would close it down at the patcher screen.

This is Indeed a common issue that is resolved by looking at the following.
1) Your Graphic card is out of date, regardless of programs and or updates given (IF) your PC/laptop is old
2nd) It could be the Nvidia driver issue and its by no means solved.
Resolve issue:
So what is the common link? It appears to be Direct X. Xbox 360, Windows XP and older graphics cards are all using DirectX 9 NOT DX10 (Vista) or DX11 (Win 7).
Anyway turns out that the problem lies in the DirectX implementation! If you run the game in DX10 modein Vista or Win 7 that's when the problems occur. Instead what you need to do is run the game in DX9 mode. This isn't something obvious in the game it needs to be done via a switch in the desktop icon.
To do this follow the following steps:
1. Right Click on the Perfect World shortcut on your desktop (or quick launch, menu item etc)
2. Choose Properties from the pop up menu.
3. Click on the shortcut tab in the properties dialogue.
4. Where the box Target: is move to the end of the line after the quote marks and put -dx9
5. The target should then read (if you installed to the default directory, other wise it will be the path to your installed directory:
32Bit Windows 7/Vista - "C:\Program Files\Perfectworld\elementalLauncher.exe" -dx9
64Bit Windows7/Vista - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Perfectworld\elemntalLauncher.exe" -dx9
6. Click OK. Job done.
PLEASE NOTE
Make sure the -dx9 switch is OUTSIDE the quotation marks and that there is a space after the " at the end before you type the -dx9 switch

It could work...good luck

Ok, first of all, thanks for the replies.
Sadly though, none of it worked. The client is still crashing.
It kinda takes out the fun of playing the game.
There must be something that's guaranteed to work?
Please help me again so I can enjoy playing the game again.

This seems to be the real problem. i say this bc directx is not pwe based, but microsoft software. i recently came across another game that was designed to run in dx9 native and dx10. when running in dx9 i would get random crashes constantly. but when i discovered the dx10 portion of the software, there were no more problems.
as to why they went to dx9 instead of skipping software thats a decade and going with dx10 which is still out of date.
it seems to happen mostly focused on win7 systems running dx11. my gf's win vista with dx11 does not do it.0 -
