Looks like GM's initially didn't want the "First Boss quest" to be called First Boss or even FB, they wanted people to call it by the name of the cave :s
Example: FB59 --> Valley of Disaster (but we players like more to say FB and the number of the lvl we do the FB than writing all the cave name)
    MetzliDemon - 102 Celestial Demon Assassin f:grin
    AmyDemon - 96 Demon Cleric
    ShekmetDemon - 81 Venomancer
    MictianDemon - 68 Blademaster
    HecateDemon - 60 Mystic
    AhrinamDemon - 50 Psychic
    AliahDemon - 24 Seeker
    And there's a 75 Barbarian too! f:cute

At least from what I got out of it, they don't call the instance itself 'fb', just like we don't call valley of disaster an 'fb' but rather "59" or "bh 59" or "fb59" depending on the reason for going in there.
so.....they use the localized name to refer to the instance itself? whereas fb refers to the quest done in the instance o.o

    my guess at least xD

FB = Fu Beng (correct me if I'm wrong on the spelling) it means 'instance' and it is used to refer to what we know as Call of Duty: Xenobeast etc.

    This.

"FB" or Fu Ben is a holdover from older versions of the game (e.g. PW-MY) and refers specifically to the chinese term for dungeon. It probably stuck with us because it's clearer to say "fb29" than it is to say "Hall of Deception" or whatever it's called, and because FB specifically refers to the Call to Duty system.

Then we all started associating those numbers with the dungeons (e.g. 29 = Hall of Deception, 59 = Valley of Disaster, etc.), leading to the somewhat-paradoxical situation in which we use those same numbers for BHs. Why do we call it BH79 if no one at Lv79 will have a Bounty Hunter for Linus? Well, because people associate the number 79 with Hallucinatory Trench now, and that's because that instance is called fb79. :P

Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]

    Other Active Characters:
LigerKing (Barb), Girasole (BM), Shamsheer (Sin), ArborSoul (Mystic).

This. And I think it stuck more along all the servers, unlike other MY hold overs because Call to Duty kind of sounds like you're talking about another game or something. Since it's associated more mentally with that game, I don't think it caught on as a name for the system. Whereas as FB for most people, at least gaming wise, mostly brings into mind the quests in question. That's just my theory on why nobody ever called it CTD or CD, even on servers that came later. Whereas they did switch from HH to TT on the younger servers. Or Delta instead of GV, even though GV is lees to type.

    I blame the wiki's tbh. f:strive

NONE of them refer to the instances as CTD or CD, nor do they seem to be updated with any dependable regularity, especially when older content is revamped. They all explain what FB is. A grid is actually set up to let new players know what the heck everyone is talking about. b:chuckle

If the wiki's had been set for new players (2 or 3 years ago), they would probably be calling the instances by their proper names all along. But, I guess since those older players that switched over to other servers brought the FB system with them (why wouldn't they?) it has stuck with the game through to new servers.

I could easily be wrong in my theory. But, it makes sense to me, since when I first encountered the concepts of FB and BH in the game, I was referred to the wiki's. b:surrender

That's probably a part of it as well, although the wikis are edited and maintained by the players. Anyone can make changes to the wiki. I just added BQ, NW, JJ and Morai into the abbreviations and terms page the other night for example. Although I don't have any special permissions on the wiki.
