HL server lag

Ok, after seeing others complain about the lag and experiencing it for myself, I am wondering what is going on to cause the server lag. I have tried pinging the server IP addresses to see what may be the cause, but, unfortunately, this is the result:

C:\Users\Owner>ping 74.201.183.17

Pinging 74.201.183.17 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 74.201.183.17:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

C:\Users\Owner>ping 74.201.183.18

Pinging 74.201.183.18 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 74.201.183.18:

C:\Users\Owner>ping 74.201.183.19

Pinging 74.201.183.19 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 74.201.183.19:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

C:\Users\Owner>ping 74.201.183.20

Pinging 74.201.183.20 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 74.201.183.20:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

Now I'm not sure WHY I got several "Request timed out", but if the IP addresses have changed, it would be nice to see the updates. I have also done a speed test between my computer and an independent server to see if the issue is on my end and my ping was well in an acceptable range of 129 miliseconds. As for other players on other servers, do you have the same issues with lag? And another thing I notice is that forums are even starting to take a while to load pages.

Ping won't tell you anything, and going by IP isn't necessarily going to follow the same DNS path that your PC is taking.

Take a traceroute to the same address your client is using. (i.e. Sanctuary would be pwigc2.perfectworld.com)

Then post those results here, along with any information on how you're connected on your local network, how your local network is configured, and how it connects to the rest of the world.

    Also, THIS...

in matter of fact, i have tried that, BUT it shows the distinction of the IP address for Harshlands xxx.xxx.xxx.20 time after time, and ping does tell me enough to see outside of the client for what i need to know.

Maybe few users are having issue but not majority of them or else it would have come up forums. I guess you better run a traceroute to PWI server:-

    Harshlands (PVP) pwieast1.perfectworld.com
    29000:74.201.183.20
    29000:74.201.183.17
    29000:74.201.183.18
    29000:74.201.183.19

Make sure that your router has port 29000 open for PWI and for the PWI patcher.

Well considering that the server you are trying to ping is going to deny all ping requests as a security measure against DDoS attacks. Ping will tell you nothing at all. It won't connect. Ever.

Traceroute on the other hand, will show you the latency at each stop that your signal takes between your PC and the server, right up until you get to PWE's ISP, where pings are going to be blocked.

    Given that information....
    Ping will always time out.
Traceroute will give you a visual on where the latency is, or where the connection is dropping.

So, until you bother to post a traceroute to the web server address (not IP), there's nothing anyone can do to help you out with tracing down your issue, and you're just shooting yourself in the foot. Basically, without actual info, all your current posts are just completely irrelevant.
