Are cash-shopped pets useful in squads?

It seems to me that the cash-shopped pets are only useful for soloing.

Sure, you could replace the skills, but with a cash-shopped pet you pretty much ARE paying for the skills so that kind of defeats the point of having one.

Free pets have useful and easily obtained debuff skills, which would be far more useful in squads. The only way I can see a cash-shopped pet being useful in a squad is as a sacrafice to prevent a squad-wipe.

Also, why does nobody sell rare pets anymore? I want a shaodu cub for me veno alt b:surrender

    The honest answer is no, you could do everything in squad without a pet, but it's nice to have them for solo stuff.

    For the shaodu cub, your veno can tame it herself, people don't sell them anymore cause people tame them and less and less veno use pets when they get high level.

    Check in the veno section maybe in the sticky or use search and you will find where tame the rare pets. =)

    Thanks for the info! It's nice to know that I won't have to shell out that much for something so ugly. Even the upgraded versions of the cash-shopped pets are just...eww.

    And I know where to find the shaodu cub :) If it's true that nobody tames them anymore then i might give it a go. When I last played this game pet-taming was very competetive, so I never really bothered. I'd still prefer to buy one though. Are they still 24hour spawns?

    Still 24h, but no competition really sometime I pass and see rare pets walk alone like the armored bear, shaodu cub etc...

    Bella, depends on wich server i think - has a Veno friend having her trouble catching those.... usual the shadou gets killed by another higher lvl Veno or a Sin or w/e - to prevent others from tameing imo

    I see a few for sale sometimes in Lost near the teleporter[RT server]

    Not useful

    Use a walker for tanking, a marksman and later a celestial sting for pulling (Kowlin can't outrun ammo, lol; also you can start stowing marksman before he even gets close to range)

    Nix was good for pvp though

    but the scorpion was good. Just highly un-professional looking in a bh100 lol

    Why would I use my pet for tanking? Pets are horrible tanks. I want a shadou cub because it looks good and I like its skills. Besides, as far as freely obtainable pets go, cubs are fairly competent at taking hits. FYI, Nix is terrible for pvp. How can anything that gets 1-shot be useful for pvp? It'd be more useful to have a quick pet that can get in a useful debuff.

    You can try getting the derjan's hatchling.It's the best free pet right now, though with the future expansion, no one can really tell what will happen with the pets and whatnot.

    I also recommend a walker, and the walker is good for doing quest or grinding. However, if you just frost like most people do today, then yeah, you don't need a tanky pet...

    The herc is still useful for 79/89 when there's no cleric/mystic, none of the other squad members can tank without heals, and are willing to let herc keep aggro. It's also useful in lower level BHs (except BH69 Polearm and Gaurnob), and won't really have problems holding aggro from other players until 7x. But if you'd rather have a DD pet, and don't want to pay for a legendary, the walker does nearly as much damage when the pet is not tanking, and the level 2 scorpion or dark wanderer do more. Just make sure to keep them up to your level... veno is not a class that should be speed leveled.

    I just wanted to clarify the rare pet spawn time;

    The snow hare spawn every 1 hour from the last time it was killed/tamed. It has 3 different spawn places.
    All the other rare pets spawn every 12 hours from the last time it was killed/tamed. Some of them have one spawn place but others have two.
    The derjan's ancient hatchling spawns every 24 or 48 hours randomly. It's spawn time doesn't seem to be affected by the last time it was killed/tamed.

    You can check etcatomb.net for the level and coordinates for the pets you're interested.

    and this is what it has come to :P pets aren't even considered for pvp anymore and new venos don't know how good those pets used to be.

    Nix used to be GOD in pvp. The forum was filled with threads saying "nerf phoenix!" "Nix' OP" "Nix is P2W". Nowadays its... "Oh geez that veno is annoying me with a nix" or "Oooooh! Quick target practice. I wonder if the veno will try to rez it :P". Sadly this is the case with all pets. Due to static damage and low overall defenses no pet is good in pvp anymore, whether CS, free, or rare. I even see herc go down in one shot. Though they never used to be good for pvp to begin with they almost never went down without effort b:sweat Now a lot of venos don't even pvp (or pve in groups) with pets anymore unless they use it for debuffs or a distraction, even then, one aoe bomb and pet goes poof.

    Here's hoping the new pet system fixes things.

    It was useful before 5 aps, a herc for 100mil can gear up your lvl 101 sin at least R8 chest and some, and u can go solo stuff to get rest of TT99 stuff.

    it's time consuming when a pet is hitting low while you healing it, and dding from time to time.

    but if you love playing veno, and wanna play only that, a herc is your choice to solo, no matter how much time it will take, but it will happen at least.

    Nix is good, for PVP/PVE u cannot use him in caves, but well, its good for questing or grinding, he is worth it.

    It's this mindset that is the problem. The herc allows me to sage soul degen, amp, myriad and or ironwood w/o taking dmg as a pure mag full DoT veno on most mobs / bosses. After those debuffs; I'm able to kill most mobs before they can reach me. Mystic may be best possible 1-1 mag dd, but Veno don't have as much need for being tanks themselves. -(veno can focus more on dd equips/imbues IF they have CS pets)
