Looking for:A serious place to talk

Hello everyone.
During my life time, I've played a lot of video-games, in the last 5-6 years, I've started to play online games too.
However, I've recently develop some psychological problems related to gaming, won't go into detail so don't ask me.
I have tried to talk about these problems with people in game and in other forums, but the average answer I received was, that I was a ****.
So Im not here to discuss about my problems, I realized that, even if its game-related problems, speaking to a game community which is most made of "young" people isn't exactly the best idea.
So here's my simple question: Where to?, I'm looking for an Internet forum/site where I can discuss about my serious problems without being laughed at by some random kid.
And no, speaking with my family/friends its not an option for reasons I won't tell.
If anyone had experienced problems, and I mean psychology-related problems, and known a more proper place to discuss, It would be appreciated to known.

I can't say for sure where you'd find a forum anywhere where people would be willing to discuss things without being subjected to the mindless idiocy of the general online populace, but I will keep an eye out. I have no doubt there are support groups for that sort of thing, I just don't know if it's public enough for people to give you any sort of pointers as to where to go.
I wish you lots of luck. I may not be able to reciprocate on any helpful level, but shoot me a PM if you ever want to vent unpleasantness.Proving that not only archers do math since 2009. b:victory

Its hard to advise you if you do not want to tell anything about the nature of your problems and if we do not know if you are a minor and in where you live on this earth and how and why your family cannot be involved.
If it is a problem of addiction, the same professionals that help people with gambling or drugs problems should be able to help you. In my country (the netherlands) you can go and talk to these people for further advise free and anonymously. I assume there are such places in most civilised countries.
If you have different psychological problems (or also addiction problems actually) you could go to your house doctor. I think it depends on your age and the systems in your country if this can be completely without your families knowing. If you are a minor and the house doctor is not completely free of charge or directly payed by the insurance without the ones who pay for the insurance (your parents) being informed, that might be a problem. If this payment issue is not a problem, it should be ok, doctors have confidentiallity and should never tell your family about your visit, certainly not when you explicitly tell him not to do so.
Do not hesitate to seek professional help. Internet forums might seem good education, but really if you have a serious problem, internet is not likely to solve it for you.
If you do not want your family to know because of shame, i advise you to get to terms with that and do talk to them. For one, family are much more understanding than many people expect them to be, and second, getting to terms with yourself and getting over your shame is the first step in solving psychological problems. If the reasons why you cant talk to your family are more problematic, they really cant know about it and you cant have a visit to your housedocter because they have to pay for it trough their insurance, there are most likely other istitutions who will be able to help you. In the netherlands i would advise you "GGD" but i have no idea how a similar institution would be named in your country, wherever you are. I think most civilised countries have some kind of institution for immediate psychological help that is free of charge. From there they will help you find the best follow up help for your situation.
This "find a professional" advise is roughly the advise i gave to people, usually minors when i was moderator on "drugsforum.nl". Of course this is a different subject, but i think problems can potentially be equally severe and certainly if your problem is about addiction or pshycholocial problems caused by addiction, they surely can be similar and definately can be equally serious. (Problems like lack of sleep, problems with job, education, relationships or simply spending huge amounts of money on your addiction) I know many people like to solve their own problem and its a big step to go to a professional, but internet isnt that great of a source of information when its about personal problems as psychological problems obviously are and professionals help could just make your life a lot more enjoyable.0 -
I assume you don't want to speak to your family and friends cause they probably don't know you play games online and you are probably embarrassed of it, but the good thing of it is that mean you still have family and friends.
But since your problems are real I suggest you to contact a psychologist or therapist or any in real life professional that actually will help you without judging you.
People with similar problems then you will be able to listen to you and understand you, but won't be able to help you cause they have the same problems.
Psychological problems are something real and that can be serious and dangerous, so I really suggest you to see someone in real life, if you can't afford a specialist then try to speak to a friend, friends are there for that and would be able to support you and maybe help you.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Thank you for you replies.
Honestly, I'm very embarrassed to talk about this, that's why my first choice would be Internet since of its anonymity, while I do realize that isn't exactly the best option either.
I will try to speak with someone close to me, even if I didn't had much luck in the past when it come to talking about problems....people can be really indelicate.<-- Signature Space -->

Yes, they can, but that's also a quick and easy way to identify which people are not worth your time. The world isn't totally full of cynics and stiffs. You're bound to find someone in whom you can confide and, with any luck, you'll be able to see to it from there.Proving that not only archers do math since 2009. b:victory

As someone said if you can't afford a psychologist, there's a lot of free lines you can call that are anonymous and they are there to listen and help, they won't judge you.
That really depend on what you need, friends can listen and try to help, but at the end the best for psychological problems are the specialists.
Many people see psychologist for a lot of different problems, there's no need to be embarrass of it, you can also keep it for you, people don't need to know you see a psy or why.
I'm from Canada and now you can even have session with psy on the phone if for any reason you can't move and it's free, I don't know about other country, but I assume that there's free lines pretty much everywhere for everything.
Good luck with everything. If you want to discuss more about it feel free to pm me to keep it private.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If you'd like, shoot me a PM. I basically play therapist for all of my friends as is, in real life, and online. I can't guarantee that I can help, but will definitely try and point you in the right direction. The least that I can promise is encouraging words and thoughts. b:cute[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I'd strongly encourage you to find a therapist, social worker, or similar professional in real life. If your problems are related to online gaming, looking to an online source may not be as helpful as you would like. While sites can be helpful there is a limit to how much information you can really convey on a forum, or how much people can say back. They can't get inflection, body language, etcetera.
Furthermore, psychologists/therapists/social workers are trained to deal with these sorts of issues. While people on the internet can be well meaning (sometimes) most of them are going to be your average people.
Speaking from extensive experience I know it can be very hard to open up in real life with therapists. If you do have a close friend who you trust and think can give you good advice, maybe go to them.
It's also important to remember that no matter what you're dealing with, other people are dealing with it too, and you're not alone. And even if the friend or whoever you go to isn't dealing with this, or even something similar, he or she will have his or her own baggage. While shame can be a very powerful emotion and a very hurtful one, it's important to remember that it's not a helpful one, and if you can try to let it go it can be a great relief.xSonOfCircex-105/103/102 Sage Wiz

In my experience, little as it may be being 17 and all,.. I have found book communities are some of the best for discussing these kinds of problems. Especially fiction book communities. .I started off on one based around the James Patterson series Maximum Ride, and they WERE very understanding and helpful people (though not anymore,.. it's filled up with idiots) but websites like those are where a lot of intelligent people gather. I learned through discussing my mental trauma on that website.
But I really do highly suggest communities built around fans of a book series.Born in death, raised in blood. The dragon within now lives.0 -
Sadly, the internet makes the majority of us able to hide behind avatars and remain anonymous, which leads to people saying things that they would never say face to face and probably don't even believe in. It's the same everywhere. You might find some website which charges you for use which would have alot less of these people, but there will be some of them everywhere.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
