Alt Overload - any advice out there?

Is anyone else suffering alt overload. I know its self inflicted. I like different classes for different reasons and cant make up my mind which one to gear up properly to actually have one really (or pretty good) good char. I have 3 x 101 mains and a pile of alts I'm slowly levelling.

Just yesterday, to do the Jolly Old Jones quests, Morai dailies, BH100 and FBQ took me over 4 hours.

I've always liked my cleric because its handy everywhere; veno and seeker cause they are fun to play; I made an archer because I kept getting flogged by archers in NW - now I keep getting flogged by psychics and wizzies instead - I don't have a wizzy but my psychic is 7x. Everyone needs barbs and bm's - they are 7x too. My sin is 8x and since I play solo a lot maybe I should gear that up. Then again maybe I should chuck them all in and get into merchanting to make some real money.

Dam it all - decisions, decisions. Is anyone in the same position Im in, or was once?? I have probably saved up 100mill or so but cant decide what to do with it - and there are no compatible chars on same accounts for sharing gears. Any advice/thoughts out there....... b:surrender

merchanting if you think its fun. You can always quit it when it bores you. I must personally say, it makes for a whole different game experience and i often wonder why i am merchanting in a game instead of spending my time merchanting for money in real life. IE, it may start feeling like a job instead of a game :)

Other than that, 100m isnt all that much, it isnt going to make you a competetive PvP char. You could make a start at an APS solo farming char with either BM, sin or barb. (plz not start a debate which of those is best or not good at all or not meant to be) That is if solo farming is something that sounds interesting to you. And then, the 100m only will get you halfway there, so you would need to expect another 100m coming in before it is finished.

You could try to make the best char you can for NW with that cash. I dont know what that would be since i dont have NW experience. But with that kind of budget i dont think you are going to be killing much, so a G16 armored vit barb to absorb damage might be a good bet. Although maybe not the most interesting to play in NW.

And if you its for doing your BHs and stuff like that, i would take a char that is least like your others. So when you create a squad but your missing a healer, you can take your healer, when your in need of DDs, you can take your DD, when you need a tank, you take your tank.

Possibly you can make a mixture of the last one and either of the 2 above as obviously your G16 barb could be your tank and your APS solo farmer would make a great DD :)

I often think the same thing about merchanting - why not do it on ebay or your local auction houses for real dollars.....

....and yeah, that's what I was saying - 100mill isn't much at all really. Could I even solo FC if I spent 100million on a sin?? Prolly not :( but once the money is gone on a char, then all the other chars miss out....

I think I'll read warrenwolfies guide again to start......

I guess I would have you thinking about this: if you only had 2 hours to play, who would you log first?

Think you've got it bad, bro? My girlfriend and I have... Let's count.
    2 BMs (101 & 100) with Nirvana 2nd stage, 5aps +7 3rd stage claws and +10 nirvana 3nd stage axes
    1 Barb (103 - my main - 3rd stage nirvana +7, +10 wep, etc)
    2 Seekers (102 & 91 - r9 stage 1 +10, 3rd stage nirvana +7 full set)
    1 Mystic (101 - full r8 +10 set)
    1 Veno (100 - TT99)
    1 Wizzy (100 w/ r8 & nirvana 2nd stage)
    1 Sin (101, 5aps w/ nirvana 3rd stage wep, +7 2nd stage nirvana, etc)
1 Psychic (97 w/ good gear waiting when it hits 100)

The only thing we are missing is an archer, lol.

Yes it can. I made a full G16 archer W/ Morai +65 HP Shards(4/6 gear, other +40 for now) all under...75m? That includes some sage skills, but I farmed all my badges/molds and I cleared 99% of all FC rooms with my friends, only ever bought 1. My archer is amazing in NW with just +3 gear, I can't be bothered to refine higher right now cause I'm focusing on my BM revamp first.

I have the same problem, kinda, since I'm 16 and can't cash shop, nor am I terribly good at merchanting, I really want to start a cleric and a few other classes, but I just simply can't afford to gear them.

I have...well, a lot of alts x.x only classes still under 100 for me are bm and barb lol- and all my toons have various stages of gear from r8 and tt90 to t3/r9r3.

My suggestion would be to just play whatever you want to atm, and work on whatever your having the most fun on. I've switched my main....idk how many times lol. It might take a little longer than if you were to start merching or if you made a farming too, but if you don't enjoy solo farming or merching, whats really the point of it? Play to have fun- if you really want to level or gear a specific character you'll find a way to do it regardless.

Set priorities and be efficienct. For me, I figured my mystic is pretty much my main so she's getting her gears before I work on the others. b:shocked

Efficiency means stuff like if you need BQ/morai on two characters, squad and do it at the same time. Or set it up so one kills while the other is already on the way there. Saves so much time. lol

I have 8 toons at 97,97,97,97,96,95,95 and 91, so i always wonder if i have 8 alts or 8 mains lol. I intentionally play each one in rotation for awhile which for me always keeps things fresh and i never suffer boredom. Also before PWI i had played many mmorpgs where i had level capped and got bored with not being able to progress my toon anymore, so with this game i decided to make a lot of chars. early and play them all in a slow methodical style...meaning i have never FCC hypered on any of them.
I dont really have any advice for you other than never lose sleep trying to reach max cap. Enjoy the journey along the way and dont worry about the final destination...just have fun wether you end up giving a bunch of toons equal play time or just concentrate on one or two.

As far as the "level cap" goes... once a character hits 101 especially, true levels themselves are not really the way to gauge one's progress... once you get to that point, it becomes the gears themselves that I see as the continued progression... and given +atk and def levels involved, it really is a long road per character... with the exception of the plastic route of course b:cute

I might as well add : I say the answer to this Altoholic Issue is reroll another character, and another, until you find one that truly suits you b:avoid

    Ok, here is my advice:

    1. Don't choose toons that are just for NW unless you are completely into PVP. The fact is NW is one part of the game so gearing solely for that isn't a good idea.

    2. Choose toons that are on the same account who can share gear. I'd suggest going with 2 toons so you have some variety. Based on your original post, I see 3 options for you.

    3. Don't worry about who trounces you in NW. Any class will get trounced by other classes with better gear. And any class will own with superior gear.

    4. Stop doing morai/BQ/Etc. on any other toon other than the 1-2 mains. The only exception to this would be doing BH on any toons 100+ because that provides income.

    OPTION 1 - Mages
Keep your Cleric and your Veno and dump all others. You said you like playing the veno, and the cleric is a good option for PVE as it is needed in all instances. Both types of toons are damn good in NW (clerics can heal themslevels and attack making them very hard to kill, while venos are good DD, support, and can effectively run the flag in). Start working toward Stage 3 Nirvana gear that can be account stashed between toons. That way you are gearing both up at the same time. (You can add in a wizzie if you want bigger DD for NW but I wouldn't do a psychic as it uses a different weapon than the other two.)

    OPTION 2 - Seeker
Since you like playing your seeker then focus on that. Seekers are good for PVP/NW, they can be built to be tanks with enough investment, and can be used for farming pretty effectively.

    OPTION 3 - The Squishies
Keep your archer and get your sin up to 100+, Archer for NW/PVP and Sin for solo grinding. I suggest this the least because you only made an archer because of NW and you don't seem to like playing the sin very much. Additionally making a good sin (APS build) will mean only a partially effective archer and making a good archer (S3 nirvana build) will make for only a partially effective sin.

I've suffered from alt overload for quite some time. xD Veno, barb, wiz, BM, 2 clerics, assassin and archer are 100+. Psy is 90+, mystic and seeker are 70+, and a few low levels that are inactive for the time being.

I tend to rotate around on them. I try to do most of my BH100s because of the coin factor, though some I can multiclient so that cuts it down a little. I do Morai on two chars a day at most usually, switching around depending on what item I want/need most at that time.

For me it is all about having fun. I tend not too look ahead and think "which alt should I level up for such-and-such," but rather "what do I feel like doing right now?" Sometimes I feel like questing on mystic, sometimes doing BHs, sometimes I feel like running TT and ignoring the alts altogether. Once they get to 90ish I start planning out for gear, but until then I don't put much thought into it. But then, I level slow, so I have lots of time. xD

So that's my advice I guess - do whatever is the most fun. It is a game, after all.

This. I'm an altoholic and I know it. I BQ on two characters at once (squading each other), etc, etc. My main's Jacey <3 Always Jacey. But I love playing each class for something.

But yes, I agree with the Mad Furball (Xainou).

Edit: When I log on, I decide what I really want to get done that day. Culti? Questing? Am I feeling up to farming? I also have a catshop I put up at night (gotta love having my own 'puter). It's how you manage your time, just like in real life.

My first char was my cleric. I then realized everyone needed/wanted a barb and I like being lead-point and supporting my squad so I made a barb but I was "smart" and made it on a different account so I could buff my barb with my cleric. I then made a veno with my cleric. These were the days before account stash and I think the only reason I made it with my cleric was to bramble my barb. I then saw a few BMs doing the barb stuff and DDing and I didn't really have a DD yet so I made a BM and put him on the same account as the barb.

So cleric and veno on one account, Barb and BM on another. I realized I was making a buff account and a second account and started trying to organize my accounts that way.

My actual actual first character was a cleric and an archer on Harshlands server but I hated the archer because I never played PWI and just didn't know how to play it (I ran out of arrows and didn't know how to get more, so I started using a wooden sword >.< ). And then my cleric reached 30, went to Archosaur and I spent 90 minutes trying to leave and kept getting pk'd, came back a different day and spent 45 minutes trying to leave Archosaur again and kept getting pk'd. Moved servers.

So when I decided one account was buffers and one was others i made my wizard and archer (last, still hating it because of the Harshlands experience) on the non-buffer account. I then started making my AAs on the buffer account to get the barb and bell buff, but I made my sage sin on my AA account so that he could buff my barb and BM. This made a mess of things and I also decided I liked demon sins better anyways...

As it stands, on one account I have barb, bm, seeker, archer, sin, mystic, wizard, and a bank. On the other account I have cleric, veno, psychic, sage sin, sage bm, sage barb, merchant char, herb bank.

    I have...
    103 BM,
    102 Barb,
    102 Sin,
    101 Seeker,
    101 Cleric,
    101 Veno,
    101 Archer,
    92 Sin,
    91 Mystic,
    88 Wizard
    87 Barb,
    75 Psychic,
    51 Bm.

I am the only one with access to my account. I don't account share of cash shop, and I do very little power leveling. Just been around and active for 4 years :D
Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. Mystic, Psychic, and Wizard left to level. b:victory

If you are really concerned about the fact that your gear compatible alts aren't on the same account, I'd say merchant the 100m so you can get lunar stuff. Yes it's more expensive but it means you can only get one gear set. While it may be more expensive in the short run, when you want to start refining it and only have to get 1 set for 2 or 3 toons, it will pay off that you spent a little extra time getting it.

Or the aps solo farming toon option.

Either way, 100m isn't going to get you to the point where you're ready to be super endgame, so whatever option you go with, in my opinion, should be one that helps you to make more coin, rather than settling for a set that is mediocre but leaves you without resources to get more.

    DrakeEmpress-101/102/103 Sage Cleric

Because I can't stand playing melee classes
