New Panda Form

Ok, I think you can get the new Panda Form called Advanced ShapeShifting at the Lost City Skill Trainer -- (it does require Sage/Demon True Form. But a) what does each version (demon/sage) do? b) how difficult/long is the quest chain to get the skill? c) Do you always get it or is it a chance thing?

What are your thoughts on the new Panda Form upgrade? Which is better, demon or sage? Finally, is it worth getting?

P.S. I'm a panda barb, so I think they picked the best form ever! So good for causing pandamonium!

    a) Sage gives 20 chi upon transforming. Demon gives a -5% crit reduction on incoming damage.

b)On average, it takes 2 hours. Lots of flying, kill X amount of mobs, and other easy little things.

c)Defeating the final boss in the quest chain will always give you the quest to get the item needed for Panda Form. So...100% get.

As for which is better, a lot say Sage form is better due to the +20 chi they gain upon transforming. I'm Demon, but I'm ok with my crit reduction buff. Lastly, it's worth getting, because it's free.

6m to learn. Well, 5m for advanced form, 1 mil for panda version.

I am wondering if full damage for sages was an oversight and something that will be fixed.

You have spotted the enemy's flaw.
Your next attack will land a critical strike.
    Lasts up to 10 seconds.

I think it was intentional, you only have to look at how the player base responds to the "sage or demon" question for barbs with how many say demon while giving detailed reasons as opposed to sage which has little positive said about it for anything more than pulling catapults or being a buffing alt to get the impression of an imbalance between the cultivations.

Even with this update demon still has the crit-rate boosting onslaught, 100% crits for 5 seconds sunder, additional control skills and more powerful armageddon, all potentially making demon a stronger damage dealer and PKer compared to sage. The gap between cultivations was just closed a little.

Ty Knownase for your detailed answer...this is exactly the details I could find no where else!

But OMG! Sage for removes the 50% weapon damage reduction!? Some extra chi is nice...but combined with this: that is huge! I did hear that the -5% crit hits lasts the whole time you are shapeshifted but doesn't quite look like it somehow from the buff icons (very key in PVP).

Either way, with that, I'd say advantage is clearly to sage. (I'm still struggling with which path to take...was leaning towards demon but this could tip the scales towards sage.)

Does anyone know if there is a prerequisite for this quest other than sage/demon true form? My friend just came back to the game and says there is no quest at the elder for her. She HAS demon true form....

Eh, it kind of annoys me when barbs don't Poison Fang.

I know most of them gave up even trying to tank years ago but still stand there and FR to make the boss aoe and move around. At least look like you're trying to hold aggro by having your Poison Fang on for the damage bump. Granted its only like 3-10% it still helps.
