Ello all I have decided to roll my first char on pwi..and it shall be psy!
I am completely confused on what I need to concentrate on, gear-wise. I do want to participate in NW and would like to get your opinions on the best gear route to go that won't force me to sell my children into slavery... Any help would be appreciated.
Do I need rep gear at any point or will TT gear suffice?

No matter what end-game gear you go for, you'll have to spend a lot of cash or farm/merch a lot. A lot of people go third cast Nirvana gear instead of rank gear, it's not a bad choice but it won't come free.A prima luce usque ad lucem

Since one can participate in NW as early as lv 60, TT/Legendary Gear is fine to start out with.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Remember: OP may be a duck|OP/GMs/Devs may not deliver|Search function is your friend|Lurk more|Be wary of Mods: they can't be trusted|This place isn't a hugbox|Your tears sustain me|Know what Bait is|"Soon" may never come|Postcount, Dubs, and other GETs are important|Don't revive long dead threads|There is a section for everything|You can be banned for anything|No Fun Allowed outside of OT|Sweetiebot rules OT|"Circlejerks" are inevitable|Threads can be derailed and saved|Those who use"XD" should off themselves at their earliest convenience|0

You say you are new to the game. The low rank gears are good to use while you are leveling. They are cheap and you get them and the reputation needed from quests.
After that comes the TT gear. It is the cheap gear for higher levels. You will need to farm or merchant a little bit to make the cions to pay for these gears. But you start by buying TT 60, when your 70, you sell them again to get your money back, you add a little newly farmed money and buy lvl 70. When you get to lvl 80 and 90, you do the same thing. Each time you get your investment back when you sell the items again so it doesnt really cost you anything.
When you reach lvl 100, you are probably wearing TT90 equipment and now comes the big change. You have to choose here how much you are going to invest. Investment can come from either real money, or farming of course. Here you can choose from the following in order of quality:
TT99. Gonna cost you about 200gold for a complete set. Can later be upgraded to nirvana. Convenient because you can upgrade it in steps.
R8. Costs about 100gold but is not a full set, dont know what items a psy gets from R8. Most of this investment is usefull as a first step for your R9 investment. However, the r9 investment is very big.
R9 basis. Costs about 1500 gold. The worst value for money available. But you can upgrade it !
Nirvana.
Upgraded from TT99. The upgrade nowadays is very cheap, say 50g-100g for your complete set. Sp total cost 300g or so. And the difference in quality is vast. So you want to do this fast.
R93th cast. upgrade from R9 basis. Dont know the upgrade cost, not as much as r9 basis as far as i know. Best stuff in the game this is the PvP ownage equipment.
The quality difference between nirvana and R9 3th cast compared to the price difference make it look like nirvana is a vastly better price/quality ratio. However, you should consider that this is just the beginnign and after obtaining your gear, you are gonna want to refine and shard it. This costs significantly more than R93 costs. Before you are gonna make that investments (years of farming probably) you probably want to have the best possible gear to do it with.0 -
LOL@above post about prices. R8 costs ~60gold (bit less) and the nirvana prices are a joke to, so don't scare a new guy with fake prices.
You have basically two choices far as gear goes:
R9 recast - best choice, it is extremely superior to any other gear, the only problem is that it will cost you 850-1100gold to get R9 set, depending on prices. The recast mats to upgrade this gear are actually cheaper than the gear itself, so if you can afford R9, recasting it won't be a problem.
G16 Nirvana - fairly cheap to get and very solid, it will allow you to do well in NWs and perhaps farm for r9 in the long run
R8 - not really that good any more because Nirvana is so cheap nowadays, so I wouldn't advise getting it unless you can't afford Nirvana. If you go R8, you have the option of going R8 recast - and using full R8 (R8 doesn't give you boots+wrist by default, but you can get it for wedding candy).
In general psys are only caster class that doesn't benefit much from channeling so that should be the last on your list of stats to look for. Our physical defense is also the lowest of all casters, so instead of being a 3k hp psy worried about getting wizard's kind of phys.def, just focus on getting 5k+ hp and then start balancing out your gear.0 -

Ty for this post. Here is my next question...
I want physical res gears, but sharded with HP correct? Do I want ornaments (belt, rings etc) that add dex for increased crit? I assume anything with +x% crit is a wise choice am I correct?0 -
If you're going for the Nirvana 3rd stage gear then Garnet shards are ideal because most of your hp will come from refines plus the set bonus gives you Hp if i'm not mistaken. Try for ornaments that can give you magic or vitality. The ring from the Goshiki quest line is very good for awhile to use. Honestly dont worry too much about your gear untill you are 100+. Use what you can afford and save your coin for your skills and ultimately the end game gear. b:victory0

No ornies that add dex, just %crit. r9 ring, sky covers or if u cant afford them phys res lunar rings are good options for psys. If ur going r9 then also take 2nd cast vana helmet and cape. Why? Cause it add 2% crit, 5 al for the set bonus and 400 extra pdef. If ur going for n3, then use n3 helmet and cape as well for the set bonus.Characters:

Um... as far as rank 8 gear goes... the cost is 200k reputation... the rank 8 wrist and feet do need wedding candy the first time you get them, but only 1 mil each after that initial wedding candy ordeal... (-editted)
As far as which end game gear to go for...
1. R9 (most expensive initial cost, around $1500 base)... but can be upgraded free and fairly easily... this is hands down the most powerful set at the moment.
2. Nirvana T3... this is the cheapy set and easy to get, if you want r9 base - compareable stats... but it only compares to the base r9, and definitely does not compare with the r9 recasted sets... given the end game is a lot of mass pvp type battles in territory wars and nation wars at the moment, it is good if not looking to spend a fortune (the most expensive part is pre-nirvana cast lunar and/or tt pieces which need to be upgraded)
3. R8 recast... I only advise this set for those who know exactly what stats/effects per gear piece/full set they want which are different from r9 or the t3 nirvana...
As far as the best weapons go... IF not going rank 9, which is actually in the 1 spot...
1. Warsoul Recast +55-65 atk lvls. (even more expensive than the initial cast, but worth it if you are going to +12 this as its only -37 mgc atk from the initial cast but gains a lot of other perks)
2. Warsoul Initial Cast +50 atk lvls. (easy to get over time, but fairly expensive if you add it all up)
3. Nirvana T3 +40 atk lvls. (easy to get)
4. Rank 8 Recast +25 def lvls. (easy to get)
Question 2 :lunatique12 wrote: »I want physical res gears, but sharded with HP correct? Do I want ornaments (belt, rings etc) that add dex for increased crit? I assume anything with +x% crit is a wise choice am I correct?
1 socket : 1 garnet
2 sockets : 1 garnet, 1 citrine... OR 2 garnets
3 sockets : 2 garnets, 1 citrine... OR 3 garnets
4 sockets : 2 garnets, 2 citrines... OR 3 garnets, 1 citrine... OR 4 garnets
As far as ornaments go (neck and belt)... you absolutely want physical defense... Unless you happen to have all 4 socketed gears and fully socketed with garnets for physical defense... and even then i would suggest at least one of those ornaments be physical defense.
Yes, +%crit is always good.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
personally i would shard full cits at lower levels and get good phy neck/belt/rings only because you tend not to have enough health to survive even magic attacks otherwise, i wouldn't bother sharding phy unless u have like 10k+ hp and even then...full 3r9 +11/12 (still using immac shards though) w/o CSing, leveled to 105 spaming pv, yes i have no life =D0

Ive been hovering at 5121 hps or less for well over a year... i only JUST recently (last week or two?) got my base hps over 6k. 10k hps and nothing to back it up is like writing checks you cant cash... there was a very old console game i played, and i mean very old (1985-7-ish?) that had these slimes end game... they had THREE... yes 3 hps. if all you do is miss no matter what type of attack, their 3 hps will rock you. when you did finally hit these damn things, you did ONE... yes 1 hp damage to them... these were perhaps some of the longest non-boss fights in the entire game. The cookie cutter + hps because some calculator said so thoughts among young people are fantabulous... lemme explain why +hps is such a poor choice...
You decide I want + hps... well, that adds hps to your max hps... which is great... however, without resists or defense, enemies will do more damage to you. You will also need to adjust yourself end game...
I decide i want physical defense... i have less maximum hps than you... but per hit, i am taking less damage... that means my defense shards will give me constant use...
...this is, compared to the hps route which only gives use up until u fall below the hps they have added to ur total... at that point, ur hps shards are completely useless...
... whereas my physical defense shards are doing their thing the ENTIRE time... EVERY hit i take... this ofc does not take into consideration hp charms... but id bet my left and right one.... that which ever of these two is better already, is even better after a hp charm is then further taken into account... meanwhile... at endgame, i dont need to adjust at all... refines = hps... period.
chit chat with people on my server and see just how great +hps shards does vs me who has constantly made sure that i maximize damage output and defenses, and paid very little attention to hps... or better yet... someone who advocates +hps shards, please come to raging tides and show me... cause with my fail just over 6k hps... im so easy to take down b:sin b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
