What happened to pvp damage reduction?

Ok, I'm not normally one to log on to the forum to complain about things, but as I write this, I am thinking specifically about nation wars. It was my understanding that there was a damage reduction in pvp, but it seems that now, all my chars get hit for WAY more damage by other players than from any bosses in the game. I'd like to know how my barb (full 3rd cast nv gear) can still be hit for over 30k damage by a player character, but I've never been hit by any boss for more than 8k (and that includes being a lowbie 9x barb trying to tank world bosses with HH 90 gear). If a wizard can 1 shot a barb with the best gear alternative to rank 9 gear, I think there's something wrong. In addition, I know a few seekers that have 90+ defense levels and over 14k hp unbuffed who are being 2 shot by assassins. My question stands: wasn't there supposed to be a pvp damage reduction? pvp is an important part of the game, especially if you're trying to attend a nation war to improve gear on other chars, but how is it fair or even anywhere near fun to get completely demolished by another char in 1 or 2 hits? This is a game and I would assume the point of a game is to be entertaining, not maddeningly frustrating. To those people who might be tempted to say, "oh, well, get better gear," I say, "I have what was supposed to be a competitive farm-able gear set, but it seems woefully inadequate." As I've heard rumors of +3 attack level and defense shards being added to the game, which will even further widen the gap between "op" chars and everyone else, I wonder: how much more broken and unfair does the pvp need to be before PWI will either change things so that the pvp field is at least competitive, or reduce the damage done by player characters in pvp? If a 101 barb with full recast gear takes 4-8k damage from normal shots from an archer or 30k damage from magic classes, something seems inherently broken here.

Pvp damage reduction is not compared to what a mob hits you for. Its compared to what you'd be hitting the mob for. It doesn't matter that a mob hits you 5k, what matters is what the person hitting you would hit a mob for. I believe pvp is 1/4 reduction, so that player actually hit you for 4x then damage you recieved. In otherwords, they may have hit you for 30k but they would have hit a mob with your defenses for 120k.
As for sins 2 shotting 90 def level seekers; def levels first go towards reducing attack levels, so if that sin had more than 90 attack levels he'd be doing more than full damage against the seeker. Say a 100 attack level sin hits a seeker with 90 def levels for what would have hit a mob for 0k:
damage taken = damage delivered / ( 1 + ( 1.2 * ( defense level - attack level ) / 100 )
damage taken = 20k / 1+ (1.2 * ( 100 attack levels - 90 defense levels)/100)
damage taken = 17,857 which is then reduce by 75% pvp damage to 4,465.
Basically, his defense levels may be high but attack levels are just too easy to get for most people and def levels rarely are higher than attack levels, even on seekers.Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. Mystic, Psychic, and Wizard left to level. b:victory0 -
One small mistake if the attack levels are greater than the defense levels you have to have to use a different formula. I'm on my phone though so I won't bother to fully correct.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'm geussing this is mainly QQ, but have you not noticed the amount the top hits are on your server?
People now days are running around full final cast rank 9 and some even have the final tome which allows several classes to have thier main stat in the 750-800 range. Add that in to a +10-12 weapon. So yeah, when someone uses a debuff skill on you and then attacks you, they are probably going to 1-2 hit you if you don't have really good gear with josd/more than 40k life and good barb skills.0
