I did HH 3-3 with some mates we got 5 gold mats in that run, all gone after server shutdown b:surrender

    My friends started a lunar run and the server shut down as we were finishing the bh boss, and no, none of us had any warning about the untimely shut down. Even the shut down itself was not on time as scheduled on the forum. They should in the future make a notice at least an hour in the game's system chat OR at least post it on the forum hours ahead of the scheduled shut down.

    I did 3-3 two times before shutdown and now I have no gold mats b:sad

    Not because the server took them away, but because no matter how many times I do TT, it never drops any gold mats. b:cry

    its very common to loose the last minute or so of game time when a server shuts down, its very common for world saves not to properly be timed as a server shuts down, or the shutdown sometimes interrupts the world save, this is why you are given a 4+minute warning to logoff [hint: logoffs typically do a forcesave into the database]

    your sentence is *directly* misleading and a complete strawman, no i do not expect to loose items when the server is shutdown, but anyone that has played a mmo or you know reads the forum or system announcements knows they are suppose to logoff before, otherwise the last moments of game time may be lost

    *additionally a rollback is NOT the same thing as simply "loosing items"

    I just LOL'ed at this one. They always announce it several hours ahead of time, right here on the forum. (Although lately V4liance has been a few hours late making the announcement, but it's still several hours before maintenance.)

    They DO tell you, and they do it HOURS before they shut the server down. The only thing required is that you are intelligent enough to come out here periodically and be able to read the stickies. Or, have the common sense to know when Maintenance likely is going to be, and when daylight savings time changes are. (I can understand how that might be difficult for some of you since it requires the use of brain cells.)

    Not only that, but 300 seconds before the server shuts down, it's announced by the server in-game. That's plenty of time for you to drop what you're doing and log out of the game so that you will be certain to have your character xml data stored and saved before the server kills the processes without saving it.

    If you don't log out before the server shuts down, then the only saved character data you will have will be from the last time the server auto-saved it. Which is not something it does every single second. It's something it does periodically.

    He's right, there is no way you could not see this coming, it's on the forums and there is a 300 second countdown. Unless this is your first time on the forums and you don't pay attention to chat. =\

    tho i have to admit ppl who do come to the forum are the one who hade played the game for a longer time for the most part or ppl alredy accostumed with how mmo function.

    still its not to late to teach new players how the mmo industry works.


    and yes for maintence and new intel of patches expension and game in general forum is ur friend.


    i hope you who lost thing learn from this experience and come to the forum more often so u dont lose more item in the future.

    Rollbacks only happen slightly and if you don't log out and get kicked by server reset, which is why they warn you to log off.

    Think of it like a console game. The automatic save point for the PWI server is like playing a console game where you hit "Yes I want to save my progress," and as you continue playing the console game, the power goes out. When it comes back on, you are at the last saved point, not where you were when the power went out.

    I have no sympathy for people doing FC, Lunar, etc when the servers do the auto countdown at 300 seconds for server maintenance. If I am not mistaken, this cannot be turned off, and if that is the case, the only way one would miss it (its like Duke Blacke spam), is if you have a **** that allows you to turn off system messages.

    b:shocked It looks like one of my friends lost some items from her inventory during the server reset also. These are items she has had for several weeks though, so the above explanation doesn't seem to cover it.

    likely an inventory bug :o

    first ask them to check safe/account stash, then try and relog and check those 2 and bag again.

    Considering the World Chat of the people claiming they "didn't know" was filled with questions about was there maintenance, how much longer til shutdown, why was shutdown later, etc; it's pretty much straight BS claiming they didn't know. What's most likely, is they went off the people claiming there was not going to be maintenance and to keep playing as usual. Even though the same exact complaints occur on forum each time people choose to ignore it.
