Playing PWI, it was the best free mmorpg that I had played hands downs.
Even at that point I had played many.
Being one who was not big on P2P, free mmo's were my haven.
*removed*
But I could never stick to just one none of them had the draw, I'd play for a few weeks to a couple months, get to mid level and then just get bored.
I remember starting *removed*. I loved it, setting up my own guild recruiting new players, getting stronger, running dungeons with random people I'd just met, fighting in the plains for the rights to a group of mobs. It was at the time my favorite mmorpg. sadly though due most in part to lack of active moderation, the game became overwhelmed with bots spamming messages for free gold. To the point where chat actually lagged. Eventually the game came under new leadership, but it had lost it's draw.
But PWI, it was different, an active community, regular gm involvment. getting to that next city, that next dungeon, it was exciting.. at level 35 I joined my first serious guild. Regicide..
I had never spent so much time on a mmorpg before. My days were filled with questing, and random battles with my guildmates. at that point every guild trying to achieve the same goal, to take over a level 3 territory..
the mechanics were great, the gold exchange was awesome. Back then it would only cost you 100k in gold to buy a zen.
Then it all went downhill, a certain "pack" made available in the cash shop
from then on, every new holiday a new "pack" came out
zen prices skyrocketed everything became more about getting more money for packs, getting that +12 armor. The game slowly slipped away from a F2P member community.
I quit not long after, I've tried many times again, new characters new guilds.
But it was gone That draw, that hold it had on me, was gone.

Cool story b:victory , now putting the jokes aside, the game is still going down deeper and deeper each day(from my point of view). I doubt there will be that 1% chance for a significant u-turn.
PWI for me has turned from ''Perfect World International'' into "Pack World International".b:cryb:laughAny statement of yours should I consider invalid unless you add ''turtle'' among your lines b:mischievous0 -

Forgot about its other monikers BWI and GWI (Bot World International and Glitch World International)
If they care about the game, they will perma-ban the botters and their mains, regardless of how much money the accounts have spent (they have in fact went against the ToS), do something about the glitchers, and make it so new people will want to play. I enjoy the game, but would not recommend it to anyone at this point.WeBeKinky Leader - lvl 10x psychic
If you don't like my attitude, you should realize I don't care.

You youngsters don't know anything.
I remember when we didn't have a merchant to buy gems from. We had to mine them and polish them to do our crazy stone quest.
I remember back before they came out with aerogear. The only way you had to fly, was by jumping from a really tall building and then jumping again before you fell.
I remember when we didn't have all these fancy weapons in game: we had to make do with rocks that had metal in them and the village idiots were our enemies.
I remember when we didn't have all these fancy colors in game. We had black and white text and couldn't attack until everyone was in the same room as us.
You kids these days have it so easy.0 -
to me PWI is all about just going to nation wars and making 6x the amount of money i spend on charmsWhat can you expect from filthy little heathens? Their whole disgusting race is like a curse. Their skin's a hellish red they're only good when dead they're vermin, as I said and worse. They're Savages! Savages! Barely even human. Savages! Savages! Drive them from our shore! They're not like you and me
which means they must be evil we must sound the drums of war! They're Savages! Savages! Dirty redskin devils! Now we sound the drums of war!0 -
If you try to compete with people who pay to win, you will never find satisfaction anywhere.
PWI is still my favourite game to play, often times in spite of itself.
I don't agree with a lot of the choices the PW team has made with regards to some of the stupidly op (R999 etc) items available, or the direction (PvP) the game is being steered to, but it still fulfills my quota of funness well enough to keep playing, but not to keep paying.0 -

Technically I joined the forum itself a month before you, was playing a week before Sanctuary opened and transferred there hours after it opened.
Though c'mon, most of the comments I made are obviously facetious and done purposefully in the "back when I was young" kind of vein.
EDIT:
It only took a few months to break 80 back when it first started here, and that is before all those new quests started popping up. Just had to know how to AoE as a BM or cleric. Or moth/fishing parties if you couldn't. Zhen was there as a real slow, expensive option.0
