The exclusive shards from Morai are probably the best bang-for-the-buck. I use a mix of exclusive sapphires and garnets myself. You could go all sapphires or throw in citrines instead depending on your needs.

Not sure why you'd use garnets over citrine as a bm.

On my server 40hp shards are 200-300k, and 50hp shards are ~1m. Exclusives give 65 hp, and cost 2.4?m more.

Imho 15 hp is not worth 2.4m. At 6x3 slots (18), thats 43m extra for 270hp. So 50hp shards at 1m each are the the best money spent cheaply.

Sage Magic Marrow. I also wear a pdef necklace. Helps my survivability immensely.

And yeah best prices are going to vary by server. Perfect Citrines go for ~3m on Sanctuary, so exclusives make sense there.

For a PvE only build, garnets are decent. They reduce physical damage more than JoSDs and are much much cheaper. Most mobs and about 4 out of every 5 boss attacks are going to be physical damage. About 90% of the attacks you recieve are physical. For PvE garnets actually are fine.

But we're strong in pdef already. Shards really should be used to fill in gaps in our defense.

And Maelael, by your logic the best bang for your buck are shabby citrines, because you get 1 hp for every 106 coins spent :D But its a one time fee and you will take damage over and over and over and over and over and eventually the extra 10-22 hp per shard will add up.

I'd say vit stones are the best shards for the coin. If that is too much I'd combine Morai citrines and Morai sapphires (if PvPing).

Not gonna lie, I sharded my full R999 with flawless citrines I had sitting in my bank back when people used to spam Nirvana. Couldn't be bothered to spend anything I wasn't planning to keep more than a few months lol.

At the end of the day, what shards you use will be determined by what you can afford, with shabbies being the most cost effective, but won't be noticeable to be worth sharding. Shards have always been less cost effective the higher up you go. For example, Jades cost 3x more than DoDs, but are only twice the defense level. Same with Garnet Gems to Drakeflames. You really just gotta evaluate what you can spend really, lol.

As for sharding, I'm all for flawless till endgame. Unless end game is years away, then maybe invest a little better into them.

It is a mystery to this day. Similar to how sins go sage as well, baffles the brain b:shocked

I actually prefer sage sin long term. Why does sage sin baffle you?

Ignore that question, I don't want to derail the thread like all the other thread ever made, we can just leave it at that.

Sage BMs are squishy in magic marrow, especially against archers. That's one of the main reason I switched from Sage to Demon. Demon marrows much more balanced.

Sage seemed like to way to go pre-anni packs in 09 due to the sage/demons skills being almost un-obtainable back then. Farming abaddon and seat back in the day was almost impossible to get a squad for lol.

But yeah, this is going off topic lol.

Are the morai shards tradeable, or do you really need to get them from the npc urself?
