GM's, what do they do?

I read the old thread from 2008 about gm's. Said you had to live in the US because you can't do it from your house. I was just wondering if this is still the case?

And what do GM's do? I expect they'll be ingame for when ppl need help getting unstuck or have other trouble but what else? Iow, what's the general job description? I'm not looking to become one btw, just wondering.

    You have to live in California somewhere to be a part of them IF your hired for the job. Sure you can have GM's all over the world, but that makes things unorganized upon contacting each other.

    "GM" is really a huge umbrella term most players use even though the reality is that there are different groups that do different things.

    Wow... No kidding... 'Community Management Specialist'. Pretty extensive skill set there. O_o

    Sounds like a crossover between moderator, GM, System engineer etc... I could never do all that, I play way too much, and I'm not sure I have the people skills anyway :)
    I was just wondering what kind of ppl gm's are. I have worked as a systems engineer and also did some help-desk work but this sounds a bit more intense.
    I'm a bit surprised though that with all current technology it's still not possible for ppl to do this from wherever. Then again I have no idea what practical issues you guys run into so there's probably a good reason.

    GM's in this game aren't really all that bad. They do forget to switch on an event every so often, but I suspect they're rather understaffed. Any time I've sent a ticket I've had my problem solved without issue.

    The devs on the other hand and the higher ups in china are the ones who **** us over more than anything. They're the ones who don't fix bugs, nerf delta and dq, add crazy packs and op r999 gear and so on.

    3 years ago GM's weren't added to the list of almost extinct and endangered animals. the ones we got atm, respect for them, being able to keep doing their job even though a lot of people think rather negative about GM's...

    Proof they are no GMs: several times a week somebody WCs looking for someone to glitch bubble boss for him. Glitch is used in the WC. If people can openly talk about glitching then there's no one watching.

    Few minutes before NW, someone is trying to bypass wc filter several times, few minutes later he was banned and begging for his account back. b:laugh

    Happens last Friday on HT server.
