is there anyway to autopath without flying instantly?

as a barb i can get to places on foot easier than my quest flier. but autopathing automatically makes me get on my flier unless the distance is within my minimap. its even more annoying because when i do want to autopath without flying i have to revert back to my human form and unequip it and then turn back.

i was wondering if theres an alternative to this

Unfortunately because of the flyers in this game, they didn't install an advanced autopath system for ground movement. You can always just actually watch your screen, or you could buy a fast flyer to go faster then barb on foot

technically (I could be wrong about this, but I think I am right), the speed of an Aerogear (Flyer) is actually the same as your base ground speed (4.9 meters per second for a Barbarian) + any modifiers for Gear + the speed modifier of the Aerogear.

So take me for example. As a seeker I have a base Land Speed of 5.0 Meters per Second. I have a set of Wings of the Cloudcharger which gives me an additional +0.20 Meters per Second of Movement. I also have a Soaring Centipede which gives me a +3.00 Meters per Second Flight Speed. All told I should be moving at 8.20 Meters per Second when flying. Now if I activate my flyers Turbo Speed that increases my speed to 10.20 Meters per second, which is faster than most Ground Mounts.

If this is in fact not how Aerogear works, then Aerogear are in fact in most cases actually slower than the combined ground speed of all races. So I am wagering on Aerogear actually working this way for the simple fact that most people are quite eager to get into the air and it would be a sore disapointment if you could actually outrun a person who is flying simply by waking around.

So really with a Level 30 Quest Flyer, and assuming no Speed Modifying Gear, you should be moving at a speed of 5.4 meters per second while flying without the Turbo Speed effect. While that may not be an amazingly higher speed than your base speed of 4.9 meters per second, it is still faster than that speed.

Speed gear modifiers and speed buffs(exempting the psy speed buff or to a sort of stretched extent, wizard distance shrink or most likeily other leaps but I have no affirmation for those) have no effect on aerogear speed; the highest speed a flier can go non-accelerated is 5.2(base archer/sin speed)+3.3(pack flying mount) which is 8.5mps... anddd accelerated is higher and whatever you already did that maths.
But for a barb who does not receive his speed increase from tigerforme while flying(even in tigerforme) and thus is at movement speed 4.9, the fastest he can go reguarily(if he has some big pack flier that is) is 8.2mps(quite a bit slower than tiger forme's natural ground movement) and 11.2mps accelerated, which seems only a mild improvement from ground speed taken into account the cost of stones to feed/the ammount of snowman spam required xD
But if you're like the rest of us and don't have an expensive pack flier or the one goose thing that goes +6 accelerated from boutique then it's impossible to fly faster than a tiger can run for the barb.

Anyway, as for the OP's question; autopath didn't always go to flier immediately(it was made that way after some patch) and since then the only real way to not instantily start flying is to unequip the flier.
Sorry, man :x It's irritating as heck for me as a veno, too, since I use FF alot, and before I finally widgetted my flier because of it I ran faster than I flew, too.

yeah I suppose it is true that for Max Tiger Form and Fox Form that flyers (especially the base Flyer's) would be a bit on the slow side. But for most races they are among the fastest modes of travel. Not to mention the safest. Not being forced to aggro mobs whenever you want to go somewhere is actually quite a nice tradeoff for not necessarily having the fastest mode of travel I would argue.
