Why did you choose Sanctuary?

Basically the title says it all...

What were the criteria for you having chosen Sanctuary? Why didn't you join Heaven's Tear or Lost City when this server came out? What made you decide against the other servers that were released later (if you belong to the newer school)?

And in restrorespect, would go on Sanctuary again if you had to choose your main's location today?

Almost two and a half years ago, when I didn't have a clue of an MMO's mechanics - but yet I knew the difference between PvE and PvP - I wanted to be on a PvE server, mainly because that's the play style (single player RPGs) I had been used to. Then I simply went by name. I just like the mystical touch and the sound of the word "Sanctuary".

It turned out that I chose the better time zone for TW and NW and some other major events so I don't regret my choice. b:victory And of course, I'll probably never forget some people I have experienced here.

'sanctuary' sounded cool but then i joined i thought of a game as a bit too girly and didnt play it first few months. then after some time kinda got addicted

i still think its a girly game.. but here i met irl gf atm so i dont regret anything..
altho tw times sucks and if i had more choice i wouldve chosen european server back then..

i didnt care about pvp or pve server cos this games pvp system is pathetic.. or at least was before they invented nation wars and tw became more challenging and interesting instead of nefarious rolling everyone in 5minutes..
anyways i wont quit it and wont go to other servers ever ;P

I too wanted to play on a PVE server. So that squeezes the 'lost city' choice out.
I knew i wanted to play this game to have relaxation and fun, not to deal and play asstards online. RL already offers that and more. I even drop **** in RL and never get it back. Why would i want to repeat that in a game. So naturally PVE.

That leaves Heavens Tear and Sanctuary.

I like sanctuary cause it sounds more neutral of the 2.

Heavens Tear sounds like a place where you eat kittens, ride ponies, and sh.it rainbows. That is too much for me.

I had a little spare time during my holidays in 2008 so I thought I would try out a MMO which I had never done before. After downloading the game, I simply logged in with no idea that I had a choice of server or that there were different types of servers. Sanctuary probably came up as the default server for me at the time due to its ping. Fortunately, it was the perfect choice for me geographically and as I prefer to have a say when I want to PVP.

In other words, playing on Sanctuary was a very fortunate, serendipitous occurrence. Knowing what I know now, I would still choose Sanctuary to play on.

Because I have characters on every server and Sanctuary is one of the three oldest servers PWI has.

Plus it's home to a large proportion of the (smart!!) trannycher population at various points in its history.

As this was the first MMO I ever played, and was tipped off about it around christmas of 08, I was excited and didn't really know the difference between the servers. I didn't even know what pve and pvp meant. b:surrender I just told my friend I'd joined Sanc and she followed.

I would definitely choose Sanc again if I had had the chance to restart. The community here is amazing.

Had characters on every existing server and Sanc was the only one where I met a group of people awesome enough to make me forget all the other servers.

I'm relieved that some of you were as naive as me when it came to deciding your main server.^^
It's also interesting to hear that there are people who have visited every other server yet. I thought that was a myth!

Yeah, if that option had existed from the beginning I would've joined an European server, too. On the other hand, normally I only play in the morning, so waking up one hour earlier is not that much of a great deal for me anymore.

When I started I had to choose between Sanctuary and Heaven's Tear. Lost City was out of the question since I'm not much into PvP (it can be fun, just not my thing).

I chose Sanctuary because I like the name lol. I'd probably choose it again if I had the chance. Met some really good friends that are very dear to me.

Friend irl introduced me to the game, he chose Sanctuary so I followed him. He quitted after have been playing for barely a month since this game didn't excite him to much apart from other MMO's such as WoW. Since this is the first MMO i'm playing I liked it at first and kept on playing.

To be honest, I don't remind the main reason why I did join the Sanctuary server.
It was my 2nd mmoprg and I think I liked the name. It just sounded cool lol.
If I had a chance to be on another server, I would probably move because the server time is too different and I cannot join any event. But I already met many wonderful peeps and found a great faction so I guess it would be impossible to leave them. b:cute

I broke up with my rl gf and a friend of mine told me to play online games as they help xD.. so i searched google for decent online games and the pics of pwi looked cool so i downloaded it.. I dunno how i chose sanctuary but i think Pings were best for me for this server so i chose this..I dont regret it since this server timezone allows me to TW..

didnt really think into it when i first entered game, thought that you could play on all servers, and you just chose one to enter everytime you entered game.

i wont leave though, i have too many friends here now, and community is great (in many many interpretations of the word great)

i wouldve liked a pvp server, but from what i hear, lost city is dead

When I first came to the game, Sanctuary was the most new server.

I picked it because I thought "I will level up super fast before everyone else and then I will rule over everyone! Ha ha ha ha b:sin "

That did not happen I'm afraid (Save your tears! I know I would of been a great overlord but my time never came b:sweat )

I keep on leaving for so many months and then coming back again and again.

I have always played on this server but when I checked today, it seems that this server is ranked the most lag filled for me. So even though I am in lag city, I will still play on this server because my dream of lording it over everyone WILL come true someday b:cool

i played 3 years ago on heavens tear cause it was a cool name..on my old laptop.
after 2 months i got a new laptop and installed pwi and logged in and was like huh where are my characters??? then i discovered switching server, but my archer was already 30 so i stayed on Sanctuary

Exactly 4 years ago, I was a poor university student, and was looking for something to spend my free time that was non study/work related.

I played Ragnarok Online many years ago, and was looking for something similar, saw the add of this game on some page I used to go, came here for a quick check.

Picked Sanctuary because had the lowest ping/latency, I had no idea that it was a new server, much less that it was PVE or PVP, nor that I cared much anyway, I was here for few months anyway.

Four years later, I still here 'just for a few months more' b:thanks.

I have played extensively on three other servers besides Santuary, most recently Raging Tides. I started here initially because of the time zones. Since playing on Raging Tides I've pretty much settled on Sactuary as my home. I've had a number of surgeries since starting here, there will be more, and I usually give new MMORPGs a try; so, I'm often away for weeks or even months. Therefore, to keep from getting booted from factions for inactivity, I've finally relented and started my own for my alts. Kind of enjoying the solitude. I'm a nerdy quiet type, so unlike a lot of you, I can't say I've made any friends on this server. That, I regret very much.

Server choice has always been an issue for me. There's hardly any way to find out how 'healthy' a server is except by playing in it. So I always go by name.

I looked at the PvE server list (I'm not a PvPer), and Sanctuary simply stood out. I like words that look nice. And have a nice meaning. Some words just look visually better than others, and sanctuary is one of them.

Every server has its fair share of trolls and idiots, of course, but I liked that Sanctuary, being a new server, has slightly more people doing mid-level instances than others (as far as I'm aware). It helps that I can actually find squads for various instances rather quickly.

I haven't exactly made any good friends, but I wouldn't move to another server. Even though i wish dye prices would go down just a little... b:surrender

Well, I followed Rhyki there to tell the truth.

We were looking for a new MMO to play together, and she found PWI, so I followed, we don't really PVP. and like she said, Sanctuary has the best population for getting easy instances mid level, albeit it being a small server population.

Sanc isn't bad, I made a few friends and met some decent people, but I also never seen a place in any game with so many trolls too. Although you get trolls anywhere else.

I don't plan on moving though, I've even settled into a faction I founded, after being director of another, and its a fun game, really.

Started on Heavens Tear thinking after I worked some of the mechanics out, I'd switch over to Lost City. A few days after playing, Sanctuary came online so started playing on that. The pace was pretty fun, and got to enjoy near suicidal ways of leveling that would not be feasible in a pvp server. And with the state the game is in now, PvP server doesn't mean much anyways.

So definitely glad I made Sanc my permanent one on its opening, way too many fun things and discoveries made to ever wish otherwise. And now with the PvP goodness that is NW, there is no reason to even think of switching anyways.

i was looking at servers status and found this one have less ping " at time UE servers not up" so i mad my first char " Archer" on it ..

then later i decide move to other server but i missed all my friend here ^_^ so i couldnt leave them b:surrender and back play again here

because the name sounds the best, although i actually made characters on heavens tear then lost city way before i joined sanctuary, my friends used to play on heavens tear then i wanted sum pvp blood sweat and gore rawr then i just opped out and started a fresh on sanctuary, me and my friend were debating moving to lothranis when them servers got released but meh didnt happen b:chuckle
