as a 61 veno w/ a 60 walker, whats the best way 2 kill chintien?
i have lvl 6 heals, and im using the walker skill that does dmge reduction on him im ONLY healing (no attacks at all)
is it even worth trying? or do i have a chance?
and are there any strategies i can use?

i assume ur talking about tt solo mode. Chintien is really easy in solo mode, but I really don't know if a 60 veno can pull off such a feat. If you brought a veno friend along and both of you healed one glacial, you could probably get the job done. Now if it's squad mode ur talking about, just know that Chintien will hit harder and have more hp, especially as you go from 1-1 up to 1-3. Either way, squad or solo mode, I recommend you level up and get the gears and max pet heal to ensure your success.

nah, i dont think solo tt is worth your time until you are at least lv 90 with a similar level pet. Good luck!

just doing chintien in 1-1 should be easy, just spam heal your walker, and dont try to attack yourself. takes long time, but is easy. Squad mode though, solo mode wont make any profit

i did ok spam healing my walker until his dmge reduction skill wore off
then chintien gradually wore down his hp
even w/out chintien thou, i almost broke even, and i would have made a little if DQ drops were normal b:angryb:angryb:angryb:angry

anyhoo when i get my lvl 63 heal, will i be able to kill him do u think?

honestly no, chientien requires having level 10 pet heal and a strong pet. If I were you I would look at making money other ways such as farming so you can gear yourself up. Level to at least 75 and then maybe try again.
I know that when i first did him my pet actually died a couple of times but with HP pots charm and soul transfusion i was able to res my pet, heal and have it take agro before i died.

    thats rather impressive
my first run, had i picked up the dq drops and sold them, i would have made 50k profit easy
i got a mp nitewish thingy hat w/ mp +180 and extra durability, LOTS of arrows (???) and a half dozen piece of skeleton
as it was, i about broke even on the 20k sub cost
its actually pretty fun 2 run, even w/ out chintien

Get both tough and threaten on your walker.

Then simply have the pet alternate the skills as each wears off. As long as you continue to cycle them, at most your pet will take one hit where it's not buffed/the boss isn't debuffed before you hit the next skill. With both of these at level 4, you should have a fairly easy time doing the boss in solo mode.

im @ work atm, so cant log in, but i assume tough is the dmge reduct skill?
coincidentally, i recently got the threaten skill book as a present

also, do both of the skills need 2 be lvl 4, and if so, can i lvl them up, or do i have 2 buy new skill books?

Yes, tough is the damage reduction.

And while they don't have to be level 4, it does help a good deal and give you much more room for error and the potential to toss in a skill or two with it.

To level them up, go to Ms Zoologist in the southeast corner of archosaur. She'll sell these that are then used to level your pet's skills (done the same way as learning new skills for the pet).

And with that said, I'm moving this down to the veno section as it's more venomancer based right now anyways.

Now, I'm not sure if this is still on the context of single mode or squad mode TT, although I'll get to that. As someone with practical experience skilling both tough and threaten on a tanking pet I can tell you straight out it helps to speed up kills significantly by allowing you to get in some extra hits through the damage reduction periods, as well as considerably incresing the safety margin on barely tankable bosses, but it will not allow you to tank anything your pet couldn't without the skills. While it is theoretically possible for the damage reduction to make a difference on bosses that are slowly gaining ground on your pet's hp as opossed to spiking through, you'd probably be much better off using chaneling gear to overcome the hp creep. Using tough and threaten does come down to a 15 sec window of no protection, which your pet will simply have to hold on through.

Now, squad mode Chintien is not accessible for a lvl 60 walker period. It may appear as if you could almost make it but in all truth ordinary pets I have never known to be able to accomplish this prior to 90, and even then a full run will probably be out of the question. Single mode, however, is actually worth doing during 2x unlike what some others have posted here. As an average (on 2x) you may expect to get something like 1 mat per boss per run. Keep in mind this is an average, you may get lucky on a few runs and come out empty handed on some others. I would recommend the Walker to be up to the same level as you (no ifs and buts about it) and for you not to try until you've acquired your level 63 heal, while certainly level 60 venos have succeeded in the past and on slightly worse pet stats (magmites) the gearing standards are actually much lower now despite the cheaper and larger selection of gear available. Venos just didn't get to 60 that fast in those days.

Now, the point of doing single mode runs is speed, when I first got started, and this was straight spam healing a low dps shaodu cub (skilled with tough and threaten) I was doing times of 25 mins. Currently I can do 2-1 in uder 10 mins with the same pet (slightly different set of skills) and its certainly worth it, once again, during 2x. In fact I've been meaning to try 3-x runs since hitting 88...
