Nirvana 3 vs Rank 9 Tier 1 for Arcane Armor?

Hey all,
I want to level up a Psychic and Mystic (on same account) to endgame and I'm debating whether I should get a 3rd cast NV set or separate 1st cast R9 sets for these characters. I like how 3rd cast NV is account stashable, which lets me have one set of highly refined gear for both characters. It is also much cheaper than R9 and completely farmable. I compared the stats of the NV3 arcane set to the R9 set in PWI Calc and saw that NV3 is almost as good as R9. I don't think some players recognize this because when I told another player that NV3 was comparable to R9 he just laughed in my face. But he was an R9 player so maybe he was biased.
Although R9 for two characters is much more expensive, I don't want to rule it out because based on yesterday's sale, I think R9 will be a lot more cheaper in the near future. Getting R9 also opens the possibility for getting the best gear in the game currently - R999. Unless PWI decides to implement R10. So if I were to get R9 I wouldn't refine it until I get it to R999. The thing is I don't know what the cost of converting from R9 to R999 is. My source of income in the game comes from merchanting and BH100 rewards. I try not to spend no more than $50 a month on the game.
For those of you who have both R9 and NV3 sets with similar refines, do you notice large a difference in damage or defense between the two? Do you think it's worth it to get R9 for PVP or is NV3 armor sufficient for PVP?

unless your going for 3ed cast r9 i say go for the 3x nv, much cheaper, power comparable to r9, and the fact that its tradble/sellable is nicefull 3r9 +11/12 (still using immac shards though) w/o CSing, leveled to 105 spaming pv, yes i have no life =D0

main difference I see between the two sets, is the ability for either side to shard and refine.
Most fully geared r9's i see running around are at least +10 with high shards, if not fully JoSD
Most T3's are less than +5 with immacs to perfs sharding.
This creates a huge difference in power and survivability.
However, Most R9's wont' be R9 long. Where u top out at T3, most will be going for second recast. and then third. Leaving the gap in power once again, wide as the grand canyon.0 -

Completely false. being both level 16 gear, they can use all types of shards.
the only reason for the differential is most 3rd cast vana people havent had the money to refine and shard yet, or are going for bonus stats. the gear is indeed cheaper, but it is just as good if not better
3rd cast nirvana armor for arcanes has better base defense then r9. the add ons of the armor also give better hp and defense, along with alot more magic. the full set bonus is 700 hp, 15 defense level, and 20 attack level, ending up giving 60 attack level like r9 with added weapon. the r9 set also requires you to use its belt for the full bonus, even though a g16 warsong belt could provide much more phys defense for a mage, at a much cheaper price.
the g16 vana weapons also are slightly stronger base then r9, and refine to be much stronger. my g16 vana bow shows stats to be 200 damage higher then an r9 bow also +10, and the gap increases further at +11/12
the only downside is lack of channeling for mages
with current price on g16 gear, you can get full set of armor and weapon for less then the r9 ring. the cheaper price will allow you to refine and shard fast. youll also be able to share the gear, halving the cost. if you make your g16 vana armor lunar based, you can sell it later if you decide to go for higher r9 recasts.
also with the OP's lack of funding, g16 vana will definately be the answer. almost all the casters i have talked to who have it, love it[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

did an archer just call spirit blackhole completely trivial and useless?
also the point about refine/shard didnt mean the gear itself the "two sides" obviously meant the type of players that have the gear, it was a nice way to say- havin all these armor piece ambition is great but remember if you dont refine/shard it its damn near useless still0 -
IF you have money: R9
IF not, nirvy g16 b:bye0
