    It depends on the version, but I never liked many of the fire types that you could find so I always chose a fire starter. :(

    Yea, he probably stalked me all over Kanto just to be everywhere 5 mins earlier. Only thing I ever beat him to was Viridian Gym

    Though they were kinda limited in Gen 1 in terms of pure electrics. Voltorb/Electrode (HAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE), Jolteon (awesome!), Electabuzz, and the magnets... *shrug*

    Pikachu has stats on par with Rattata except for the speed stat... 'x3 But the obsession is commercially based, so xD.

    But yeah when he's actually evolved, 'e makes a decent electric type, (in first generation especially, same as Jolteon, before the system's special split agitated both of their defences Dx)

    Electabuzz is my favorite electric pokemon in generation one. Generation 2 is Ampharos :P **** the electric rat, i prefer the electric sheep!

    Ampharos(and the previous evolutions) is just about the cutest thing ever. I got so happy when I found a wild Mareep at the start of White 2.

    BUT YEAH. Squirtle needs more love D: Wartortle is the most badass evolution ever.

    Bulbassaur for the sole reason that there are other awesome fire and water pokemon around, but grass types usually suck (vileplume, victreebell, tangela and exeggutor all suck). Fire types? Moltres, rapidash, arcanine (<3 arcanine), ninetails, magmar, flareon - all nice). Water types? MILLIONS. Gyarados, poliwraith, lapras and pretty much all the water/ice types because they can be effective against pretty much everything.

    Bulbassaur will also be effective against both throck and mystic, so hell yeah!

    First gen needed more decent grass types so I could choose Charmander, the obviously best option. But as it is, no game. :(

    I actually found Vileplume to be good, i guess i got one with the correct nature thats probably why.
