Hello everyone - loving this latest update but now I am confused how to progress gear wise.

My initial gut instinct was to go for the weapon with Purify proc, but after playing around with some calcs, maybe the gear set would be a better idea?

Current Calc = http://pwcalc.com/2df4262dffd95276

Here is a calc of me with the 3rd cast weapon - http://pwcalc.com/60b91cb5d1b4c29a

Here is a calc of me with the 3rd cast gear - http://pwcalc.com/b8dbd7fe801a0b88

Now for the cost of each of these -

Weapon refine transfer is 800 Chienkun stones, which is 400 gold with the Chienkun sale. Then add on two Icebourne shards and it's around 500 gold total cost.

Refine transfer and gem transfer for all of my gear comes to 1022 Chienkun stones, which is 511 gold total cost.

Just going by the calcs, the gear is the outright winner, but the Purify proc on the weapon is insane (so I have heard) and I am utterly confused! :S

I always go by the rule of, the longer you stay alive the more damage you can deal, so the gear calc is appealing - but, how much of a difference will the wep proc actually make? :/

I'd go for the purify wep myself, purify proc is amazing. You get a random purify + 5 sec immune to movement debuffs + holy path every roughly 10 hits.. pretty much whenever it procs you live.. and bonus, if a sin comes up and tries to say headhunt you.. if purify decides to proc for that hit, you won't even get interrupted. It will essentially mean you will only die from a charm bypass or if you had like an entire squad targetting you and your genie/apoth were on cd. I'd get that purify proc asap if I were you :P

    Get gear first.

You are great wizard 1vs1 you never get stun locked anyway. While purify is great, you don't know EXACTLY how well it works for one, and for two, as you said with new weapon you would have to change your whole wardrobe. b:shutup

You can't really get one or the other so get both, since your shards are not josd even when your weap procs your dead if a r9 bow is hitting you,

Sure it's an anti stun but it's no use if your dead, and counting your defenses full buffed is not good because purge is such a common thing; calc your def self buffed always.

Do your armor 1st, josd it so you won't have to pay the transfer, then get the weapon and you'll be a pain in the *** to kill. You're already good at surviving in tw from what I see.

After the introduction of arcane defense, purify proc became less useful on a wizard than on any other casting class, Id say. Arcane defense seems to be more OP than purify sometimes, because it's much less of a "chance" thing than puify is.

For clerics, mystics and venos, I'd say weapon first. For psys with SoS and SoV and SoR or wizards with arcane defense and tons of p.def., I'd no doubt go for the gear first. Main reason: 100 extra magic will give you one extra multiplier for your damage.

I don't think an "extra" purify passive skill (+ maybe some att lvls - from 0 to 15 if I'm not wrong) would be worth over 1.5k m.att., 2k hp, 3k p.def., 3.5k m.def. and 8 def lvls.
