Stop using Norton/Panda/McFee/Sympatico/AVG/Essentials/PC-Cillin and every other 3rd rate anti virus out there... if you get false positives you have the wrong VS.

Ok so I've read a few posts and I think it's just AVG giving a false positive.

Just add C:\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\patcher.exe as a file exception and run as normal.

    Google: Add exception in <insert anti-virus program>

Add the patcher to the exception list as I said above.

AVG has a lot of issues like this. Many false positives on legit installs and will even corrupt or remove sys files. Had several friends get a blue screen of death from using it.

o_o I have never ever even heard of those programs. I did a lot of research into the best free antiviruses recently when my partner's avast expired. Those weren't even mentioned on the "Other good tools" list.

Add the patcher to the exception list as I said above.

i added it as a exception after reinstalling the game and it still
said i have a virus and removed the patch again b:sad

Have you tried the manual download link to bypass the auto update? There is more info here.

I had the same notice pop up as well so I added them as exceptions. Everything went through fine then that the newest Login screen went through nicely (which IS beautiful) ...but now comes the trouble of actually beginning to auto-patch. This is the same dance I went through just last week when it was difficult to update and I contemplated uninstalling and reinstalling so i ended up using my old 639 version which updated to the full 670.

I'm trying to update it and I've noticed on the right bar it gives me a "Please try another update server" but then it loads up asking if i either want to continue my last try or restart so naturally I restart it up again to see ifit gives me someprogress. . . but it stops during the Verifying to then give me a Game update terminated/please try again later. I'm sure thousands ofpeople are attempting the same so I'll assume it is this which is why I'm having trouble and also because it is a large file. I'm also contemplating whether to go back to my old version and update it until its back to latest 676. ((And I do know the partial trouble can be my internet right now as it shows a very VERY choppy heartbeat))

So with everything on the exceptions lists and through the firewalls it just trying to push through the verifying and verifying interrupted or game update interrupted dance. I had just hoped to have been updating here and there but instead going through this trouble again b:angry

I'll try later on this evening in hopes of my net cooperating and downloading the manual patch isn't really the best option as the net I'm using is a broadband Cricket usb stick and has to be shared with several people so I cant download the patch in one full shot. So I'll drink my Patience tea and hope things will work out. b:surrender

Lets hope after this the auto updater gets a long overdue overhaul.

I got a similar "virus" report.

False Alert Trojan (basically meaning the software thinks it was a virus at first)

If you go to the "virus file" it takes you to the part of patcher that changes the files.

its not like malware sits there with a name badge "hi, im a virus"
the anti virus software is looking for specific things that are either a virus they already know or something that might indicate a new one
software that changes other sofware, changes some system files and connects to the internet might be hostile
but it might as well be an online game

most spam detection software look for specific words to flag mail as spam
thats why mails written in english have a high chance to be flagged as spam in non english speaking companies with **** software
(most spam is in fact english)

I have the same issues, but my virus program completely deletes the patcher file, adding it to firewall exceptions didnt work so I turned my software off, reinstalled and updated. After I turned the program back on, it deleted the patcher again. I can currently play, but I am not willing to reinstall and patch for 3 hours every time a new patch comes out. Please help

You have to exclude the program directory from your antivirus scans. The only thing with the firewall is to allow the .exe's to use the ports.
