Visual C++ error

Hi, i am getting the same problem as you but when i click ok sometimes a secound error message apears for a split secound about microsoft visual c++ runtime library. i cant find any fixes for that on the internet either

    That's an issue that started with the decent update and has been covered several times on the forum.

    Use the installer for the current C++ runtimes from Microsoft to fix the issue.
    (Which is a pretty obvious solution when you think about it.)

    As with DirectX, having the latest version DOES NOT mean that you have all the necessary dll files that the game will look for.

    Go to Microsoft Downloads, and get the C++ runtime library. It's a simple web installer, just like the installer for DirectX 9.0c dll's is. It will make sure that you have all of the files instead of just the latest versions.

    Here we go again. Tonight was the maintenance from 669-670 and no flicker of activity again on the client updater other than the occasional Error, other than that nothing else. It cannot be my net because how else have I been playing if not with the net I have which is fine. I'm guessing it could be a large file indeed since I had downloaded the manual patch. However when I decided to try use the manual patch it gave me the 'Updated filed corrupted - Unable to update' So I suppose this means I'm stuck in this rut again. I'm contemplating to try it again or leaving it to download to see if it will help but I'm feeling defeated already as this happened months ago and I regretably uninstalled the game and reinstalled which does not help as some have said doing that won't change it. Soo grrrrr I guess I have to be patient which is a bit easier said than done w someone who doesnt have super high net. I just want to log in and work on my wizard, is that so hard to ask.

    So, someone please help me, am I the only one or no!

    p.s: Had tried to restart already thinking that would work but the same result occured unless I have to download a new manual patch all over again. :,(

    Run the client as administrator and follow the anti-virus instructions that are posted here everywhere.

    uhm.. i tried to logon this morning and i have found that all my toons on my accounts have been removed i would really appreciate an explination.

    :( still nothing and its been a good while that ive downloaded the manual patch least 3 times and each have said its corrupt and cannot update even when im on admin. I'm NOT uninstalling and reinstalling this game because again I heard that doesnt work. I left the client updating for an hour at least with nothing happening at all. This hadnt happened since September. Ugh i really hate this because I really want to play. And if these things are corrupt then why botherposting them up in the first place?

    So far you haven't stated any troubleshooting done on your part, or that you followed anyone's advice.

    Your files typically get corrupted when your Antivius software "cleans" them after finding a false positive. It can also prevent patch files from being properly downloaded and installed. Additionally, running Vista or newer and not running the game with Admin rights can prevent it from updating properly.

    This has been mentioned many times over in the forums. It's been mentioned in this thread. As far as we can see from your posts, you are completely ignoring the advice, continuing to try something that is guaranteed to fail, and then complaining it's not working.

    Alright.


    I did what you said about the Admin (which I always do) and added exceptions on my Firewall/AVG antiviruses both of which never worked at all. I have updated all my programs on the laptop. I've downloaded the manual patch several times with the same Corrupt sign popping up on my Admin acct as well. I have restarted my computer countless times to see if it would work. I've even looked through the processes on the task manager to see if anything collided with it.

    I've gone through the Support area and did the following there on what to do and fix it, the client does not want to update at all. The bars do not flicker with activity, and I get Retry signs after a while. I understand it could be a large file, but even then I'd have been able to leave it updating. When I try to verify, it halts after a while to say Interrupted try again later (its been since 6 this morning I think thats plenty of time to wait) and it repeats again without any progress. Only on the retry does the right bar fill up, but it goes away. So, I dont know what else to do...my last resort is to uninstall and reinstall it which i really DONT want to do!!!!

    Something might be blocking the game from reading and writing completely to your hard drive,or otherwise blocking the game try installing with the latest game client ?

    If you want a Gm response on your issue then make a thread here---> Updating/Patching Problems
    and you can always use Customer Support.

    I've no idea what else to do, I've done everything on the support which means I've got no choice but to uninstall and reinstall which was my last resort and if it cannot work then pwi lost another loyal player (which sucks b:cry)

    Yup - and I had tried to reinstall the game altogether, but that just didnt work at all either which was quite weird it stopped responding so I ended up giving on that and rebooted my old 639 version and now its like i never had a problem before because its updating ....ways to go but...its updating >< So just a matter of waiting which is okay. I'm checking to see if it is really going through by checking the process through the program folder and indeed it is patching.

    My only idea though is to still download the manny patch just in case and try it that way or let it update through. but overall, its working just takes time now. had done everything you told me so maybe that finally kicked in and helped :D ty. I'll update when its done or if i get it back up. TYb:thanks

    I had similar problem after installing windows 8.
    I had copied PWI to a USB key from vista Ultimate and then copied it to the windows 8 machine.
    It could not see version to check for updates so I verified the files and now it works fine.
    Not sure if this helps anyone.
