European servers taken down with no warning?

Was wondering if anyone (preferably a GM/CM/Mod) could explain why the European servers were taken down with absolutely no warning tonight. There's nothing posted about it on the EU forums nor was there any explanation/warning given via system chat, all we got was a "Server will shutdown in 300 seconds." message.

    Maybe they're merging them? Or something was broken? Chances are no players here know either, if you don't.

    The least they could do is post an announcement for you.

    They're currently discussing possible options for a merge (which is fine with me, I feel the servers need it) but like I said, we got absolutely no warning which is odd, since Regerem is usually fairly good about posting ahead of time for any maintenance that is going to take place at an odd time.

    Was sorta hoping maybe something had been communicated to the French/German servers from PWE and we just weren't told. If that's the case it would be nice if the new CM could pass along any info he has for us.

    Maybe an employee accidentally hit the server reset button XD

    Other than that they most likely forgot to post a message or something. If it's the server merge, then that will be very interesting.

    Server merge now would be interesting to say the least. But we were told by Regerem (the French CM) that we shouldn't even expect anything to come from that until the beginning of 2013 at least. I'm kinda pissed that I had just entered PV and now lost my token for the day...

    *Edit* If it's only for daylight savings time that's dumb as well, since that doesn't start until November 4th and I don't even think all of Europe observes that, do they?

    Well, europe DOES observe daylight savings time, and my google search told me that they changed back to standard at 1am euro server time. The servers went down at close to 2am. Maybe that's the reason, idk. I was in the middle of a TT run, had nearly cleared to the boss i wanted to farm. QQ.

    On Momaganon the gms are really very good about giving us advanced warning when they know something is up. Usually its only when San Fran fails to tell them that something like this happens.

    Guess we'll see...

    Some1 shutdown the servers down and wasn't the person that cleans the office

    I doubt very much that they would handle a server merge in such a clumsy way, it sets a very bad precedent and would likely cause disquiet across other PWI communities (meaning that it could have a very real cost in terms of revenue). Perhaps its a sign of the mood in European servers that a merge seems a likely explanation for the severs going down... In all likelyhood this is a technical issue, regardless of whether there was in fact time to give some notice, and unless there is good reason to consider otherwise there is not much point to dscussing the possibility of an impromptu merge. I do hope that there is some small form of compensation for you guys (perhaps a week or two of 2x) but I would be very much skeptical on that.

    I actually don't want 2x as compensation...as odd as that sounds lol We just had a whole month of it, don't need it again until at least Christmas time

    Missing as in hasn't been there for hours? Or missing as in he's taking is daily 24hour bathroom break and returned within the next few minutes?

    If its the first one, try relogging first, and if that doesn't work, send in a ticket or something.

    Daylight savings time for europe seem to have broken some things. Lucid NPCs are missing and so is the BH NPC. I guess that is why they took the server down to see if they could fix it but they couldnt i guess as the servers are back up and the NPCs are all missing still. Would be really bad if we had to wait for 2 weeks until North America got DST before this gets fixed.

    yes, I took a look to more towns, since approx 19 hours no Bounty Hunter NPC b:sad
