Don't know how much in total I've spend since I started playing 3 years ago.. but I'm fairly sure I'm one of, or was one of the top zen buyers.
Oh and even though I am/was, I'm no where near the top geared players on the server. Sure.. R9.. but I'm not +12 with JSOD. I'll never have those.
At best, all my zen was on fashion, mounts, previous orb sales, yadda yadda, you get the picture.0 -
b:chuckle All people trying to appear to appear as non-cash shoppers. Not sure about the people who voted, but lots of people on sanctuary are CS'ers. Whenever there is a promotion, get 1 demon/sage card with zen charged. You get a very long list of demon/sage cards showing up. If you pm those people, they will say it is dq items b:pleased. I fail to see the stigma of paying for your entertainment? Don't most of us pay to go to movies? Some pay three dollars a ticket, others pay 20 dollars and an another 10~30 on food. Nothing wrong with that, so why should charging "zen" be begrudged as a shocking thing b:shocked.0

To be fair, merchants get tons of those while selling packs during those promotions.0 -

This. I have quite a bit of event gold, some of it is from DQ. Other times it's from merchanting. I don't think anyone who sees my gear would be under the impression i'm a cash shopper. b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I think I spent around $200-250 in total over the course of the 2 years I've played. Most of it was spent on fashion, pointless ****, and gifts to friends. I bought r8 for my sin however, but after realizing that I will probably never even reach 3.33 aps sparked cause I have no time to farm, I said **** it. Nowadays I get my money from bh, cube, and reselling fashion. Since I have no plans to get "end-game gear", it's more than enough for me and my alts. b:bye[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I buy zen when it's on bonus sale only, so that probably works out to once every few months.
And then I save the gold... pretty much waiting for orb sales when they're good, or marriage packs on sale, sometimes fashion when I like it enough (which isn't often).
I don't really consider myself a "cashshopper" though, since the majority of my stuff I've gained through working for it, rather than instantly buying it. When that term is used derogatorily though, it's usually in reference to people who are 'all gear no skill' or something like that... I never use the term myself, because it's stupid >.>
Really I don't see a problem cash shopping as much as you want to as long as you can afford it. If you really enjoy playing PW, why not?
Does a rich player have a better experience than a poor player? Depends really. Rich players can get whatever they want sure, but they tend to get bored faster than a poor player. A poor player on the other hand gets discouraged much faster; they often tend to quit faster if they don't feel they can't get what they want 'fast enough'. But then again, people are pretty damn lazy and don't really want to work for stuff anymore... so people able to cash shop more are more likely to keep playing because they can get stuff faster than people who have to grind for all their coins n junk.
In my experience, you can't level, gain coins, and have awesome gear instantly without cash shopping. Most people want all 3 things immediately, and get really complainy when they can't. In this case, I actually prefer cash shoppers, they whine less.0 -

I was talking about the charging zen promotion specifically not the packs one or the 10* orbs one.
You know when they say charge 50 dollars get the demon/sage card. Charge 50~150 dollar get the fox, charge 100~150 dollar get the owl pet or the other one? That one.

I've spent many thousands on game over past 3+ years. But as I said in
another post, I'm probably one of the oldest in rl players in game.
Consequently I have more disposable income at this point in my life.
The big items for me were the convenience things, like safe & inventory
extensions, cupboard stones, etc. A lot of fashion, flyers & mounts.
I've probably spent $1K or more on teleport stones alone. I LOVE those
things (of course u have to buy the geographic map too, lol).
Never without platinum charms or guardian scrolls. To furnish all
these things for the 20 chars I have adds up, lol.
Anything that feels like work to me in game, I won't do. So I buy it
instead. All that merchanting & farming & looking for deals, etc.--
I've spent a whole real lifetime doing that & I don't feel like
doing it in a game. To many, this aspect is fun. To me, it is not.
I've scarcely spent any $$ here in probably over a year. Ever since
(dare I say it?) the goon glitch. That fiasco pretty much dealt a death
blow to my interest in game, because my thing in game--my personal goal--
was not to have the best gear, not to be the best pk'er (I suck at pk, my
heart just isn't in it, and to be perfectly honest, I'm not skilled
enough). No, MY goal was to be the highest level, at least in my class.
I was well on my way when the glitch rendered all my effort vain.
Consequently, I quit playing with any type of goal, I just piddle
around with customization screen, occasionally make a new char to solo
for awhile, delete, rinse, repeat. Don't spend any more money, just
use the hand-me-downs from my established chars, lol.
I don't care if a player is a cs'er or not--I've ceased to be
impressed with uber-gear since it's so common now. I just wish
more players were out in the general world, make it seem alive &
vibrant again.0 -
Last year i was in a faction where there were several heavy shoppers.
Maybe some of you aren't aware of this but there is a daily limit on the amount of zen an individual can charge ( i think its $300.000 u.s.d. ), in order to permanently exceed this limit the user must send in a ticket requesting such ( along with other infos i believe ).
This went on for months & some conversations were centered around how toiling it was to open packs all day. A few of them then downloaded/installed/used 3rd party programs just to open packs for them.

I don't buy zen very often. So I voted never. Mostly for getting the needed bank/inventory extensions, and better flyers. The occasional fash too!If you bite some one, they get mad and smack you.
But if you lick them, you still get the flavor.
And they think you're weird.0 -
Some months very little, other months depending on what I want, maybe $300 to 400. I would say average I spent per month worked out from when I started playing, would be about $150 per month. I work hard, and playing is a hobby. But looking at other things I collect, or have (fine timepiece collection, cars, art, really good scotch), PWI, although just pixels, with no long term benefit, is quite inexpensive comparatively.WeBeKinky Leader - lvl 10x psychic

I spent a lot over my first year of playing the game. I easily spent several hundred getting money for skills (across multiple characters). I bought R9/herc/nix for my main. I got my R9 weapon to +10, the rest of my R9 to +7, and haven't bothered with anything past that since the first ocean orb sale that didn't have a 5 for 100 bundle (so quite early in the year). I haven't charged anything since except for spending $100 in the summer when I rolled a new character on HT so that I could get event gold for fashion (cuz I cannot stand my characters being ugly).
I don't really have time to play much lately, and so I just keep a shop up that I check on a few times a day. As a result, I have a nice pile of change to the extent that I will likely never charge ZEN again, unless I end up rolling on a new server and needing fashion again. b:shutup[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Very interesting results so far, not what I had expected. Many good points too, like the one about supporting the game. I hadn't thought of it that way just yet.
As I mentioned, everyone should just do what he/she wants. If you can afford it and you want to, buy whatever.
To clear up the zen/$ thing. I made the poll about zen because people pay in USC, CAD, EUR what have you... Would be extremely confusing. Thanks for all the input so far! Makes me feel a lot better about getting a little spending urge every now and then[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

since i played lost since start i then used to be a veno.
at that time i tho being a soloist was ok coice but 6 or year passed and i saw how things started to change dramatic and i also realised a veno was not really a mmo feeling as it dont need cleric barb to do a lot so i made a barb.
for a lil while barb was good and it felt like helping ppl was right there was tons of frendly ppl and barb cleric.
then come sin bp int on packs and all changed most retired there barb for sin and farm nv and the game changed from frendly rainbow party to pure dd farm party.
i refused to make a sin or claw to make money as i see it as a joke so i started putting money on game each month to keep up.
you might think putting money is bad but i think a party that is pure farm dd is worse and i wont ever go that way so i use gold to keep up with cost gear etc.
my barb is retired now and currently playing bm and i pretty much ignore wc looking for barbs.
if ppl looking for barbs they should make one same as ppl make sins.
never going veno or sin or aps toon..... evolution my ***0 -

I've spent money, but I try to use it as motivation. I've been trying so hard to quit a really disgusting habit that'll most likely end up killing me later, and when I go awhile without doing it, I try to reward myself. Just a few weeks ago, I charged $100 because I went a whole month without buying a pack, which is probably equal to $100 or more (considering it's really expensive in WI). Unfortunately, old habits die hard, so I haven't charged any money since0

That doesn't mean he isn't f2p. If you went by that standard then anything remotely connected to the cash shop would have to be included. Anyone who has ever used crabmeat wouldn't qualify as a f2p player. As long as no money was spent by the player they played for free.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Not far enough. Anyone who was in squad with someone that was once buffed by someone that is in a faction with someone who has a person on their friendlist that's ever used a crab meat is no longer F2P.

spend 20$ once to make up for a mistype when merchanting and ruining half my coinbalance. It learned me to always double check before setting shop and wont happen again.
I appreciate others CS like a **** to support the game as long as they dont get too arrogant for having all that G16 gear they bought.
I could afford to spend on the game if i wanted to, but its againt my personal principals and, i think it is addicting and i imagine the game would get boring if you buy everything. The time and effort it takes to get high end items in RPGs and the feeling of achievement if you succeed is what makes these games adicting.0 -
