    I had same problem yesterday and still today.

    Tried to sleep last night when my A.D.D kicked in :
    1 sheep, 2 sheep, 3 sheep, cow, donkey, pig, Old McDonald had a farm YEAH.... Macarena !

    Sadly it is a problem that the staff are aware of, however, they assure the panda they are working on a solution. b:sad

    Funny is.. 2 days ago I had no problem (even as Opera user).
    Today I'm not able to change it.. same like week ago or 2 weeks ago.

    I guess we have to be lucky. Once is letting me change it another time not.

    I thought I found a work around but it seems to reappear at random.. can show back up when you click a new thread, or posting a reply or just searching, then there's that dead period where its not gonna come back for a while.

    Thank you for your report. We are aware that other users are also having similar issues with default forum avatars. We'll be looking into a solution for a future update, but will not be able to have this resolved for individual users. For this situation, you'll need to continue with the current status of the avatars at this time.

    Looks like that future update is still in the future.
