Is it just me, or is the Facebook link for this not working?

    b:surrender

    Works for me.
There once a time when I cared about getting to the top quickly as possible to help others. Now, I take it slow, and don't worry about having nothing to do. There's always something to do in an MMORPG, especially if you are high level. PK'ing is for those who desire to inflate their egos. True friendship comes from helping one-another, rather than to start rivalries.

I like alienware, they look nifty. :3
Ever since dell bought out alienware, they're pieces of garbage. <_< My fac leader got an alienware desktop as a birthday present months ago, started it up, and it's never ran correctly since. It doesn't even play the game and it's currently sitting on her desk collecting dust while she looks on in the desperate hope it'll work one day.

But it does glow purple, so it has that going for it.

    Hey guys!

Thanks for all the feedback on the Refer-A-Friend system so far. We recently updated the rewards, and I'll be posting a proper news post about it shortly. Thanks for your patience so far. b:thanks

The main reason why we set up this system was because we believe that players have the most fun when playing with their friends. I took on this position as Community Manager because I believe that the community really is the greatest part of our game, and we wanted to reward you guys for helping to build that community ^__^

And I know that 2000 friend referrals is probably a biiiit much for most players, but hey, it's a pretty swank-tastic gaming laptop. I think it actually time travels when the processor speeds up past 88 mph. And it's good to have high goals and aspirations to reach for!

So go out and invite your friends to join us! Maybe make a new low level character to play with your friends and show them the ropes :)

It's not just a high number, it's darn near impossible. b:surrender The average person has just 634 ties in their social network according to Pew Research. Questions about the validity of that research aside, it seems that perhaps PWI is overreaching in making the number 2000 when even researchers estimate that the average person doesn't even have half that many ties. It should be a bit more realistic. Even if the laptop can time travel. IF PWI can't afford to give out that many laptops (which obviously they wouldn't want to) they should still make it possible for some crazy person to undertake. For example maybe 500 referrals. Which still seems pretty impossible. But it seems more feasible if someone was really, really aggressive about it. I'd imagine you still wouldn't be giving out very many laptops.

Also what does GM bodyguard service entail anyway? b:chuckle

The average teen girl probably has over 2k facebook friends... but slim chance anyone will get a full 2k people to join and level to 25.

If PW was actually -serious- about this as a contest, they'd DRASTICALLY lower the amounts. I'm talkin like 1-5-10 and 15 or 20 as max.

The stupid-large number is probably just to combat people who will make hundreds of accounts; since it takes like 4 hours to get to level 25, I could see people making 2k accounts b:chuckle

Big room->Main that can solo boss/mobs->5 ALT's=lvl 1 to 30 instantly. But you'd have to go through the process of making an email per account, account creation, character creation, get your character to snowy/FC(cleric would be the best case for this), clear FC, then solo big room. Too much trouble.

Hmm on my server you can buy the big room for like 1m. If this gets 5 of your alts to lvl 30 you need to do this 400 times which is just 400m. You still need to make the accounts tho and squad signet 5 accounts to FCC. Do this 5 times a day and it would take about 3 months to get 2000.

    Doable.

Most of my friends don't like RPGs though =/ Especially not MMORPGs. They like shooters and fighting games, and love the Xbox line of consoles. I on the otherhand love SONY Consoles.

Yeah, it's doable, but it'd honestly be faster to just work some overtime and buy the laptop right out. At least that way you'd have control over the specs. b:chuckle

Then why post anything or be involved with a game you don't like? Seems rather silly for you to even be posting here. Regardless, I like PWI more than most MMOs out there, mainly because it's stable, and free to play.

The new GM isn't too bad at BS. Almost sounds convincing and probably keeps the more simple-minded happy with the friendliness and optimistic "reasons".

Anyway, the truth is, if PWI actually cared about maintaining a content and long-term playerbase they would fix a lot of things, like making it easier to earn coin below level 100 and abolishing FCC power leveling and encouraging open world questing, and a lot of other stuff.

This is basically an attempt at fast cash. And a good one, which will probably work and make them a lot richer short term. People WILL attempt this. Even if 50 people try the 2000 and fail halfway, that means there are 50000 new players in the game. If 1% of those stay and become cash shoppers, then PWI has 500 new people pouring hundreds or even thousands of $ into their pockets. The fact it's short term profit doesn't matter since they have plenty of other games to move onto when this one dies.

However it does seem a little pathetic they're so desperate. Kinda reminds me of how (a very popular P2P mmo) send me emails offering free lv80 characters, free subscription for a few weeks and a bunch of other stuff for the person who recommends I return, if I start playing again. Lol to that.

I guess it's win-win for them and the person who gets the prize, but it does nothing for the actual players or the game itself.

Nexon did the same thing, and is still doing such. However, Nexon, not content with its playerbase, has cut ties with the BBB, making players of their games go through Nexon, and only nexon. It's why they're surviving really. Nexon KR (The developer of ********, etc.) doesn't like USA Nexon however, hence why ******** for USA isn't getting as many "patches."

Better to have a company that can agree with itself like PWE.

Just saying....

Moreover I think prices are only for USA again, he?

Well well well, a new shiny gaming laptop for the person that can get 2000 people to join the game AND get them to level their characters to 25, I'm amazed they didn't throw in the "Has to charge Zen for it to count" idea as well. Is it just me or does this sound like a big cry for help? Also, how many people do you think will actually try to go for the top prize? b:chuckle

    Discuss.

EDIT: Also a Mod might want to let one of the GM's or someone know that the Refer-a-friend link is only visible while on the front page at the moment.

Oh, I only have to get it to 25?

Ok, time to open up 30 clients with the computers and use my main to get them all to lvl 25 in a single frost.

Then repeat enough times to get all 2,000 characters to lvl 25. :|

So squad size is 10..frost still not fixed to fit the spare 3, so 6 is the limit. Minus off 1 for the main, that is 5 slots per run getting lvl 25 easily within the time to second boss. Then set those off and get the next five...

So possibly 3-4 sets of 5 per single run.

So 1 frost = 20 (best case) lvl 25's ready to go. Then I need 2,000 lvl 25's to get prize....
2,000/20 is 100. So 100 runs of frost, equates to a gaming laptop for very little effort ingame. Just opening new clients and getting the characters into frost (squad signets ftw).
