Really Wonder Why!!!

Not everyone get ban for it, i know some people that got reported many times and didn't get ban and still use the same .ini edit. So i guess they ban who ever they want for it.

The reason they say it's cause apparently that make bugs in the game to change the codes.

And this is why I'm glad I play on Momaganon. Earthguard hair + eyes = b:cute.

editing the ini wasn't meant to be manually changed in the first place. At least not from the developer's point of view.

They have no real reason. Laziness and being too stubborn to do something literally every other server including your own European ones do isn't an excuse. Much like the old multiclient rules that pretty much everyone ignored because it was stupid and the reason given was complete BS.

Maybe its just something I have noticed, or maybe it os coincidence, but most of the time I get a DC, mainly flying into populated areas, or I am in an area that isn't populated and I am just standing there and get a DC, I log back in and what do I see? A character or two with an edited .ini file in the same area. Be it obvious body edit, or hair edit (I don't pay close attention to the eyes).

I really notice this when its the latter and I am just standing in game and get a disconnect error. Log in and hello edited .ini character standing at the same NPC. This has happened four or five times lately.

False. As frankie has stated the only reason it isn't allowed is because they'd have to change the ToS.

They are banning it because they don't want to give people the impression that other files are okay, just because harmless cosmetic ones are harmless. Despite them admitting it's a waste of human resources, complete harmless, and unnecessarily restrictive on people's ability to customize their own characters.

It has nothing to do with ini editing, more than likely your client is corrupted or something. Especially since you only have the problem recently. Besides that, more than you would be experiencing the issue. Such as when someone "fixed" the r8r soulspheres by giving people cosmetic edits on their end, it resulted in everyone around them crashing. Not just one person.

One of three things happened here.

1) Your friend didn't submit a ticket/send an email about why there were banned.
2) Your friend sent multiple emails over the course of weeks, causing them to be constantly pushed the back of the line.
3) Your friend was banned for something else, and lied about it. This one is especially likely if their ban was anything short of permanent because PWI doesn't give temp bans for ini editing.

PWI permanently bans your account the first time you get caught ini editing but will unban and let you use a makeover scroll to change your character back to a previous look. This is provided of course, you get in contact with them in the first place. Which is the whole point of the permanent ban, to force you to contact them if you want to play again.

That's because tickets are automated and so it's a generic reference to ANY game file changes. I'm sure you remember what happened with the rank 8 recast soulspheres. But the cosmetic character changes will not cause game errors unless they make their character to fat/skinny to click on. It's not the editing itself, it's the body proportion. Which is why the petition in the suggestion box specifically says that nobody cares if that remains banned.

GMs have said more than once that things like are earthguard eyes are completely harmless and only not allowed because of the issue with the ToS.


edit: And when I say abusive edits, I mean ones that attempt to exploit in-game glitches. Like this 2008 post.

Exploiting glitches is and should remain not allowed obviously. And this was fixed by the developers a long time ago with the invention of tab targetting.

Again, it's because PWI has never wanted to update it's ToS to include a line about not abusing glitches for harmless character ini file editting. Which is no big deal, and requires no hacking software. It's easier to them to just nobody can do anything, but I can't think of any players abusing it this far, period. And a lot of man hours that are much better spent providing actual service are wasted on "it this shade of red hair achievable?"

Bascially just a simple text file, breaking down your characters look into some text and numbers. Really easy to edit if you know what is what.

It contains all of the data pertaining to your character's looks. You can modify it by swapping out the numerical values of your desired look for the ones you currently have.

So this is what all the WHOO HAAA is about? Terms and Conditions say you not allowed to , but if only thing you change is the LOOK of you char, then it is not giving you an unfair advantage ?

So what's the problem?
