Machinated Terror mount-beginning of a new age of "rare" mounts?

It's most likely not going to happen.

For example, the Tidal Serpent was an invaluable one-of-a-kind-mount for people who won a contest of some sort. Those who had this mount had popularity because their hard work was in the form of an unique mount that no one can ever have. If I remember right there were about 4 of them in the entirety of PWI.

Then they released it in the boutique.

The Giant Bunny all-class-pet was supposed to be a revered trophy for another contest's winners. But then look, they release a pack that has a high chance at obtaining the Giant Bunny.

It won't be long before colored versions or the version itself will be obtainable to the general community other than the Sweet Remembrance Event.

Mounts are neat, and pretty, or whatever, but I'm not one of the people who relish owning rare items. Especially things like mounts which, really don't have any effect on my playing experience beyond the cosmetic.
Personally I find the Terror interesting looking, although I don't find mechanical or things such as the motorcycle (-_-) in line with the general PWI theme.
It is nice when PWI can add some variety to the world through new flyers and mounts, but like most things PWI comes out with, I doubt it will be 'exclusive' for long, as almost everything is obtainable several different ways. I find myself especially being turned off by things that are -bound to char- or -bound to account-. So in the inevitable eventuality that the Terror does become a purchasable mount, it will probably be like most mounts (unbound) thus making it actually a more worthwhile version to invest in if you really need a mount or like its style.
I have enough mounts anyway that I wouldn't have a reason to have another one even if I did win one. I don't generally do PWI events as the competition is too high or my contribution is never enough to get me a chance to get the rewards worthy of the effort. If I was a new player, I would most likely not have a very good chance to win one anyway, so I doubt it would effect me at that point either. I almost never am on a mount except for running around Archo or that rare instance I'm farming herbs or something, so buying or working for a mount at this stage (at least for me, or anyone who has been playing more than 2 years, since they probably have at least 3 free mounts as it is) is not really incentive for me to participate in an event. If instead the Terror was an all-class flyer, or something like that, that would be more encouragement to participate.

I don't think they'll ever have a land-air mount, but there hasn't been a flyer that every class could equip made yet, which could be a neat thing.
Personally in line with the quasi-mechanical theme, I would make the all-class flyer look like some kind of Wright Bros. steampunk airplane.

Nope, that would be the Dark Abyss, only available for trade-in of 400 Attendance Sheets.

I see piles of these mounts in HT already. Even a few people I know got them in the event.

Guess it is only rare depending on your server.

You guys remember when the ancient boa first went in to the boutique for like a week after sanctuary opened?, then for like a year it was like the rarest mount?
Then the black raptor that you had to refer 10 people that had to spend at least $20 each.
You have any idea how hard it is to find 10 people who will play this game AND spend money on it!? lol.

Then the goldmane lion was the rarest for a while.
