When you install, just choose the external drive as the game's directory instead of your laptop's hard drive. =) The game runs nice off of external drives, I use mine if I'm going away and won't have access to our gaming comp. Or, if you already have the game installed on a different computer, you should be able to just copy the complete Perfect World Entertainment folder over to the external drive.

It's been a while since I've installed the game on anything, so my information might be fuzzy regarding newer operating systems.

Like I said, it's been years since I've installed the game on anything, so the steps have probably changed since then. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I'm sure someone more tech savvy will be by in a while to give you more current information.

I think when you click Download, it'll tell you to "Save As" or open, think you click Save As, then you look for your Hard Drive, it has a name to it.

Example: Original Path to put the game in is C:/Program Files/Perfectworld international

in an External Hard drive, it might be: D:/Program Files (then click isntall when you click inside program files) and it should work

Look for the spot you can put the game in other then "C:/" Thats your C Drive, (Computer memory) you want it on something else other then "C:/"

The drives I have sometimes come up is my D drive or E drive (External memory for both)

Just wondering... Is the game going to run slower if you play from an external HD?

    yeah that's a good question....
so it should allow me to choose whenever i start the download? okay i think i get it now :) i just hope that having it on my external hard drive doesn't make it slower...*sigh* i wish i knew more about computers so i knew what i was doing...ugg..

actually that's gonna be another question...will downloading PWI to my external hard drive make it more slower to play or whatever...? i hope not..
