Repair Requirements

First off I have searched for this and re-read all the Blacksmith guides I can find, but I just seem to have missed this. As a new player, the equipment damage thing confuses me. My veno rarely uses their Blood Curse Wand, and mostly relies on nukes and the pet to do damage, but the Wands always seem to take damage as long as they are equipped.
Is that a correct assumption, that any equipment you have equipped takes damage when you fight mobs?
Next question, when I tried to repair this item Lvl 4 Blood Curse Wand with 3/32 durability, I get the repair window from the Blacksmith showing it requires a Liang Stone Level 2. I have 32 such stones, but the window will not proceed to repair, showing 27/32 in red. Dragging such stones over to the window does no good. What is wrong with this picture? This characters Blacksmith skill is lvl 2. Does one have to have the same level skill as the equipment to repair it or decompose it?
Would it be cheaper and less time consuming to simply purchase a new weapon rather than spend the time to level up the Blacksmithing skill? What do most people do? My character is a Veno and at this point I am going from a all magic / arcane type 'build'.
Thanks,
b:thanks

I think you got the repairing mechanics all wrong
To repair something that has not been shattered in pvp
You got to an npc like blacksmith, tailor, apothecary or merchant then select goods then you use either the repair tab to select a single item to repair or press fix all to repair all equips you have equipped
Note: repairing does cost a coin fee but its always listed how much0 -

close. weapons take damage when you use them. casting spells counts as using a weapon, if it's a magic weapon such as a wand.
i've never seen any piece of gear require anything other than coin to be repaired, no matter how damaged it was. (unless it was shattered in PvP, but that's a different game mechanic entirely and doesn't apply to PvE at all.) i don't know why yours would require any kind of stones to repair, although i do notice that a one- or two-star blood curse wand should *decompose* to some number of liangyi stones. sure you're not clicking in the wrong spot and seeing what your payback for decomping it would be?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -
BarbLord is correct, you need to use the repair function in the "goods" subcategory of any NPC that sells things (doesn't have to be a blacksmith, i usually do it at the apothecary when i refill my pot supply), and is completely unrelated to manufacturing skill. b:surrender thankfully.
The "repair" tab you are trying to use serves the function of repairing shattered gear, which is a whole other ballgame....and one which, on a PvE server (which you are) you are unlikely to come into contact with any time soon b:cuteThings said during a Twizted faction PK session:
Slayer_of_Souls: you guys are such suck ups. none of you have attacked twid.
Twiddzly(fac leader): no, sere killed me already.
Slayer_of_Souls: he's out there waiting for us, isn't he. i'm gonna die.
Sereneai: b:sin why don't you come find out.
Kinglkaruga: you go first dule.0 -
Yes I see now. I was trying to use the Repair Shattered window and not the smaller and not as easy to see Repair button. That's great, I was afraid repairing gear was going to be a time and serious money sink, but I just repaired all my stuff for a lot less than I was expecting. Thanks for your help!
