I will admit this was my homework for this week...

After stumping me for 6 hours I finally gave up because my brain hurt and the work didn't seem worth the points

However, I still want it for a study guide for my test, because seen it properly done, Ill know wtf I need to do.

I am going to post the stuff here that you need to do. after you do it, you can either upload it and put it here, or pm me for my e-mail to e-mail it.

First answer thats deemed correct (I'll be able to somewhat tell) I will give you...

There are a few different parts...

4-24.
Ratio Analysis The Corrigan Corporation's 2010 and 2011 financial statements follow, along with some industry average ratios.
a.
Assess Corrigan's liquidity position and determine how it compares with peers and how the liquidity position has changed over time.

b.
Assess Corrigan's asset management position and determine how it compares with peers and how its asset management efficiency has changed over time.

c.
Assess Corrigan's debt management position and determine how it compares with peers and how its debt management has changed over time.

d.
Assess Corrigan's profitability ratios and determine how they compare with peers and how its profitability position has changed over time.

e.
Assess Corrigan's market value ratios and determine how its valuation compares with peers and how it has changed over time.

f.
Calculate Corrigan's ROE as well as the industry average ROE using the DuPont equation. From this analysis, how does Corrigan's financial position compare with the industry average numbers?

g.
What do you think would happen to its ratios if the company initiated cost-cutting measures that allowed it to hold lower levels of inventory and substantially decreased the cost of goods sold? No calculations are necessary. Think about which ratios would be affected by changes in these two accounts.

    economics is a part of math. in the Netherlands there r multiple kinds of Math: Math A is more comic like questions (tax, profit etc) and Math B is more science: speed, things with experiments etc

    Plz don't remind me of my accounting classes. I barely got B's in them, did not learn anything, forgot everything, and frankly it's a miracle I didn't commit suicide during those 2 semesters I had to take it.

    You're right, arithmetic is arithmetic regardless of the discipline. But just because I have a pretty firm grasp of most amateurish mathematical things doesn't mean I know how to make an income statement or an equity statement. Sure, if I read up on those things I could probably figure it out, but I'd rather be certain of something than just blindly submit **** hoping to get it right for gold. More to the point, I don't really have the time right now to even start to research it :p

    This is neither math, nor economics, strictly speaking. This is simple accounting.

    Why do i say it's simple, there is an equation, 3x+5=6. Solve for x, how hard is it to do that equation if you are at that level? Easy, because all the information is given to you, all you have to do is apply.

    If the equations went maximize ln x + ln y, subject to x^2 + y^2 = 1, where x,y >= 0, i would consider that more challenging. This is an economics problem as well as math b:chuckle. Those who know it will either groan or laugh with me.

    The accounting problem is not asking you to calculate complex ratios, find P/E ratios, other stuff, and advise a client on whether to invest this company or not, providing your reasons. That would be more complex.

    Best bet, the effort you put in making that post, would have been better spent reading your material to answer that question. Not just glazing over the words, but actually trying to understand them.

    I would do it if I was not already currently doing my senior year of college and need my brain for the work I have to get done. b:chuckle Oh man. Accounting was a painful course and I passed with an A merely because the professor did the "step by step" guide on assignments and tests.

    so, i am by no means a "math person" like sir decus is and although my major is marketing, i'm still finishing basics and not yet involved in accounting and such. i'm not going to try to attempt solving these as i would have no clue but maybe this site can help:

    http://www.khanacademy.org/ (just type accounting, i'm not sure which particularities you need)

    also, why not ask your professor? at my uni, the office hours are posted on the syllabus and if you can't find them, i bet you could always ask him/her after a lecture. my uni also offers "walk-in" tables for nearly all depts for homework help at the library, idk if other unis do this but it helps :)
