So here we are in September the wonderful PWI anniversary and it got me thinking about the China development team and how wonderful they are. Which brought me to my second thought. Someone at the Chinese PW development team must be a very smart cookie. b:laugh
But Kinjeto, you might ask. Why do you think the Chinese developer team is a smart cookie? Well every time you play Perfect World and start a new character minus the elven race they have a jumping tutorial. This got me thinking why would they have a jumping tutorial? Well because you can double jump in PW.
Which also lead me to my next thought. Someone in HQ of PW China is a very smart cookie because they've made the Cube of Fate. This wonderful puzzling and also painful (in some cases -- Yes I am looking at you Room No. 38) which causes a lot of headaches for people. Which lead me to my final thought.
Why with the implementation of flying mounts, the ability to set 'the gravity' (jump height) on dungeons as a separate instance and the ability to disable flying mounts inside dungeons -- Why didn't China put in jumping puzzles? Was there some sort of missing thing in the rushed development cycle or did China just run out of ideas?
Even though @ one time there was supposedly people who would do somehow repeat the jump action over and over again (hackers) PW China could of put monsters on the roof to stop that.

I actually quite like the tideborn jumping pirate ship thingy. That's nice and tricky.
The human one.. is just evil.
The elves getting jumping tutorials when they can fly is really kinda funny - but nicely introduces you to the whole "Look, this is what is special about your race. Other guys have to jump. You just don't have to. Yay!"
There's also the pit in rebirth, where you have to jump across the little stepping stones (at least halfway, to where falling in will port you to the right side)
But in general, yeah, I agree with Xainou. Jumping puzzles, especially in a game with rubberbanding and horrible lag artefacts, is a bad idea.
Oh! There's also a sorta-jumping place in wraithslayers-missive dungeon; but since you can fly in there, and falling in does no harm, not really.0 -
The road to the Cinnabar in RB could also be considered a small jumping puzzle (with the floating platforms and all..).
Problem is that jumping puzzles on the main map lose their purpose after level 15 when most players get their first flying mount. They could make more of them, but they would have to be instanced. Like... a dungeon made up of floating platforms and such, with a diggable chest at the end that gives a useful item.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Sure lets have a jumping chasm you have to cross where some require extra speed boosts to cross (either by Holypath/apoth/class skills/etc) and below are millions yes millions! of claping hands with instant suicide and respawn time >:D
You have a timer to cross and "defuse" a bomb or you die as well putting a higher adrenaline rush into it.
While I'm at it let's put those floating colored balls that stun freeze and slow as well into the mix to make it more challenging.
And then lastly have a few mobs floating around on certain platforms that can 1 shot you that way there are dead end paths

anyway when im bored ingame (which happens often -.-) i keep making tracks jumping on the buildings and statues, it's really fun u feel like doing parkour, once i started in south archosaur and took a trip around the city, south west north east by jumping b:laugh

No you're giving your kitty an endurance test to handle the strain of constant running and dodging in tw!

On another note, I would really enjoy parkour-like instances that involve jumping. The jungle ruins is sort of like that in terms of timing things, but it's more running around in a 2-D grid instead.[SIGPIC]Octavia is best pony[/SIGPIC]

Meh, flying in dungeons is a bit too much, but would love to be able to jump. But more than that I would like to be able to attack and use skills while riding my mount. We can while flying, so y not on the mount?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Maybe because mobs can't jump.
You can reset the agro of most meele mobs just by jumping. Maybe if you add mobs that can jump, start flying or so. And if you can use skill while jumping.0 -

The first MMO I played many years ago had some quests with dungeons like this. Or a cross-hatch instance where you had to run to or jump to certain squares to get to the next room. Those dungeons could be maddening, but hella fun. They even put in a haunted house.WeBeKinky Leader - lvl 10x psychic

Well either we're both ****, or you and I have found one of the hidden joys of PWI: jumping parkour-style onto various buildings. Hopefully we are not alone...
Ever since I was a lil bm, doing my first jump quests (Try to Leapand Lola's Path), I have been travelling the map, searching for buildings with the right collision boxes, and attempting to climb them without the use of aerogear.
The statue in Archosaur with the backpack on its head is actually climbable, I jumped from sash to sash to get there.b:victory
The centre of Archosaur can be reached by under 30s, because the dragons holding the platform up are climbable if you know where to jump.
Also if the place is impossible to get to without aerogear (eg. Heavens Tear), I still fly up there and jump up the towers.
If the GMs ever decide to fix the collision boxes of some of the things, I'd probably suggest making ladders functionable, because Town of Arrivals looks ridiculous otherwise.b:laugh
