    People don't hate sage. Why are you being so melodramatic?

    The sage archers who know what they're doing are very reliable and can get the job done. The fail archers will fail no matter what culti they pick. Demon just has more crutches so people with bad gear and/or bad playing ability are encouraged to go demon so as to fail slightly less.


    If you don't have any shortcomings in coin or ability, then both cultis are good and it mostly comes down to your preference in play.

    Most don't really hate sage.

    In the times when the gear was equal enough that culti mattered, a sage archer would be less effective than a demon archer. You can refer to old threads like Devoted's culti guide in the stickies to read from an old-school archer's point of view what advantages demon has over sage which generally helped a demon archer to fulfill their class role more effectively than a sage(to someone who has played an archer long enough, it is common sense, but it's just funnier to read from Devoted's PoV).

    It is arguable that sage is more viable when coupled w/ an enormous gear advantage(lol), but a demon will still have more offensive power to bring to the table when compared side by side- same gear/same stat- w/ a sage.

    Since in a practical PWI game environment, people will not be equal like this, your gear is more important than your culti.

    I think if there is any real hate, it is because of the posters who speak out on behalf of sage. They tend to be somewhat... ridiculous...

    Actually the title was a typo lol, and I agree with you but I've definitely seen a negative reaction to sage archers.

    I don't. I find my sage ea more enjoyable because its not derp auto like a sin, which in my experience is the only way of taking down some targets

    There was a period of time, before Jones and readily available rank gear, when archers were considered an underpowered class.

    This was when archers would hit like 700 on fully buffed endgame wizards using +10 bows. Mind you this was a couple of years ago, when packs first came out and the best you had was Lunar bow. So the endgame archer couldn't kill anything that had high refines.

    At the time, Demon path gave you a better chance with the quicken proc and the crit bonus, that's all there is to it. Sage's whole concept of bigger hits didn't really mean much when all archers were hitting so low to begin with.

    However, now with R9 you can at least hit pretty hard as either culti, so Sage isn't as hopeless as those days.

    When faced against a Demon Archer R9 +12 vs a Sage Archer R9 +12 the Sage one is always gonna hit harder, there's no doubt about that.

    People go Demon because if you get a Quickshot Proc vs a R9 +12 Sage your going to do less damage as them but at a faster rate. This is nice for taking down people quicker and moving onto the next important target.

    All in all, if your gonna go R9 +12 Sage would be your best bet in terms of raw damage. But most of the Demon skills are all better so it really cancels each other out.

    This is my current gear. I am a Demon EA so I am currently under the effects of Demon Spark. I added full Buffs because their cool.

    Here is my current gear under the effects of Sage Spark and Sage Bow Mastery.

    As you can see the damage differs but not by a lot. This is why most people go Demon, because your overall DPS with a bow is gonna be higher as a Demon then as a Sage. However most people don't use Demon Spark in PvP (Sometimes you can, like it TW before being seen) making Sage better as your going to hit harder unsparked.

    Overall I would choose Demon time and time again. I just wish we could get that damned 50 Chi skill, its pretty useful.

    Looking at the new skills balance thread in General Discussions, I'm surprised nothing changed about Deadly Shot...seriously who uses that...my suggestion would be the following:

    +100% extra weapon attack for Sage.

    +50% chan time debuff for Demon.
