Youre supposed to quest with them anyway. Honestly I think thats what I used most of my DQ for back in my lowbie days. I never remember NPCing them being a significant source of income.
Is anyone else baffled as to why so many level 100s are complaining about the price of DQ21?
People complain way too easily.
Completely agreed.
I know the game is much different from when I started playing, but back then my main source of income was selling mirages, and crafter armor. I used DQ's for doing quests such as the banker quest, and the exess I sold it to other players. I never npced.
I'm also baffled because all the complainers are level 100s... This doesn't affect us, oh but complaining is so easy, am I wrong?0 -
Yea, DQ 41 still has the same selling price, and also the amount of coins per mob, obtained from the low level mobs, has increased significantly.
I like this new DQ item update better because the DQ items drop rate is kinda low whereas the coins drop rate is high.
Almost all mobs you kill drop coins, unlike the DQ items.

GO CRAWL UNDER A ROCK AND CHEW ON A CAN OF WORMS.
Thanks PWI for ruining a perfectly good wholesome game that alot of us have enjoyed playing over the years. how much lower will you guys go before you most likely will cause a major leave fest of players. as of tues nights patch, your reputation has become totally shot. so you guys better fix everything or alot of us veterans will end up leaving. ty for reading. (for all the good that it'll do since the devs have their ears full of wax/pond water)
There are also veterans who have a good enough memory to keep the QQ from updates in perspective. People complain after EVERY update and always have. Many of things we have accepted and seem normal now were huge upheavals and supposedly "broke the game."

Of course this doesn't take away from the fact that this DQ price nerf shouldn't have gone through to our version in the first place, seeing as how botters are far less of a problem here than people not being on the map at all.
At least they still get the DQ points, that's something unique to our version.
Not everyone is going to understand wtf that npc is talking about let alone realize to check the AH to see what a dragon order is worth. Most people start a game they just want to start doing normal quests and kill stuff most people will just shrug that npc off. Also like the high lvl people in here dur hur hur people whine to much I don't care about new people starting the game I have billions of coin I can send my alts that's all I care about.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Limestone has been nerfed apparently as well. Even though its not a dq items. Devs should seriously make lowbie dq items npc for a tiny bit more add in things like elemental frags and limestone.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Most definitely. When I start a new char, I depend upon limestone, mystical fur,
buddha's hand, etc. to get enuf coin to buy the darned pickaxe, lol.
Seriously they should revert these items back because they DO impact a new
player's abilities quite a bit. (And the coin drops from these very starter mobs
is still very low.)0 -
They should leave dq items alone period...some of the players depend on it for ingame income..I don't get why the change other than to try and force more to cash shop! They should be giving new players an incentive to play the game rather than run them off..each new player could potentially be a cash shopperb:surprised0

Im sure alot of players who are probably the vast majority that remember back to those times are either still playing very little now or have quit completely. least quite a bit of the new normal back when pwi first started was more centered on the playerbase than pws back pocketbook. Ever since descent came out pw has become a greedy monster just to satisfy its own personal benefit while entertaining us players to death. They add content that they think we'll like but will possibly have the opposite affect. So whats the point of pw entertaining us to death while we (the playerbase) get diddly squat out of what they add/bring in new to the game. All the playerbase wants is to have things return to a much more challenging environment stead of having everything made too easy for us while at the same time the cost of things increases where we cant simply afford in game items without having to somehow depend on rl money to get us things that we would like to get and maybe even more. if you havent noticed how much ppl put 2* gear into auction lately, id say its ridiculously pricey for an item that you almost say is alot less than they want out of it. There's a big difference between complaining/QQing over having a voice to speak out against injustice and the degrade of common sense and that is what us veterans of pwi are aiming for when we are outraged by this recent new development of gameplay when it doesnt even come close to fixing everything that pw has screwed around with.
This is not a mere complaining or QQing over the latest update, this is a prime example of how the playerbase wants things to return to the way things were. Adding new classes, game content, and etc is all nice and good to have but its totally meaning less if its not entirely focused on the playerbase who want things to have a challenge added to it. It's alot more rewarding to work toward your goals stead of things handed to ya on a silver platter. If rl was that way, things would of become alot more chaotic than they are now. Think twice before coming to the conclusion that this is all bout the players complaining/QQing bout how the game has gone or headed. Its a simple matter of we the playerbase want common sense back into this game regardless of the game play, new content, classes, skills, mounts, flyers, etc.Gravediggr - Dreamweaver wrote: »They should leave dq items alone period...some of the players depend on it for ingame income..I don't get why the change other than to try and force more to cash shop! Agreed, alot of players who were once low lvl used dq items as a means of gaining coin. now that they are nerfed how are they able to make an average amount for things that are needed to survive. guess its heading to where ya need a high lvl toon to get coin to your low lvl toons for things that are needed. The Sure Shot that Flies Straight

We didn't though. DQ 21 was never significant. DQ 31-41 started to help build up money, but not DQ21. We moved past our 20s in a day or two and income came from quests. Anybody with brains saved up the DQ 21 and either sold it to higher levels or made Dragon Quest gear.
The only time I actually grinded DQ for income as a low level was lvl50+ when quests started to thin out.0 -

As far as I can see, not only they low-DQ-items were nerfed.
I noticed that e.g. limestone and ragged fur also are NPC-ed
for only 1 coin - why, oh why has this been done. b:shocked
There's no explanation found for this nerfing - maybe it's

I am a lev 30 cleric. I had to leave for a couple days and when I came back I saw the prices and thought it was a mistake. Apparently its not. I do not know what to say. I am stunned. I need lev 30 stuff like armor and a weapon right now I am using a lev 14 wand still
I do not know how I am going to be able to afford anything now. They said the coin reward is higher now but I dont know I do know that I get 1400 a quest but that isnt keeping me in pots. I was going to try to make these pots I learned how life powders or something but if I can not afford powders for my level I am sure other lowbies like me cant. I am at a loss now will it be worth it to continue playing? I dont think I can survive much longer with my armor and weapons as they are. b:surrender0 -

Try collecting crafting mats like silk thread or rough fur and sell them to catshops in west archosaur. That's how I made the most money at that level.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

just some comments now that this thead has cooked for a bit:
1) L100's qqing in the forum is because that is the alt registered to the forum. dont assume that is the only toon we have.(and this alt isnt even L100, but ya way too high lev for dq31 concerns)
2) as several people have stated, when you first start the game. you need to get rolling and get a little cash. even when you first roll a new toon, just gunning down L2 beetles or w/e for 20 min gives you a nice few thou from limestone and other dq0. now you can actually start doing stuff like ?teleporting? and buying a few misisng pieces of gear and stashing for when you start wanting other stuff like a fly that isnt stuck in reverse like a failmanta.
L30-40 is crippling without good cash, and you cant farm a quest. then there are SKILLS skills keep you so broke and broke on spirit. farming on 1 man armies can generate the cash and spirit so u can level ur skills. you can bleed exp to a genie to hold up a bit while u get ur skills to match ur level.
3) no, the low dq nerf wont even get a second look from the r9 cs ers. but how many peeps bring up a lower alt to farm craft skill levelling mats, or stupid sht like hay and fruit for pet slots and a bogus L7x quest. so u just spin ur wheels grinding the low drop mat for the pet bag and MAYBE pay repairs. that sux.
4) crafting mats market is DEAD. i'm almost to the 3 yr mark and i grew up on selling herbs and pelts and oils. so i have had my finger on the pulse of the mats volume for a long time now. it is slower than ever before. there isnt really good money in mats any longer. and desperate people just kill the sticks and gravel market. it is a joke.
5) those dragon quests are uber lame. uber lame rewards for too much work and expense.
in coins per hour, farming dq for the cash gets you further ahead. the quests will never be any driving force of anything due to lameness.
6) how many times can you go through a quest sequence? that running around gets so old and having to kill mobs that arent ez 4 ur class. and you cant farm the ones you like.
so, obviously the game will keep on rolling along with this change. but they walk a slippery slope by gearing everything towards super fast levelling to 100, leaving a bunch of hopelessly behind on skills, hopelessly low on resources and hopelessly low on cash L100 toons0 -
Well its been about 2 or 3 hrs 3 silk threads and 2 concentrated glue later I am not sure this is going to be worth it. Bored absolutely MINDLESS now
With the prices they want in AH for just a wand and boots huge ouchies . Think im gonna go back to my other game. Thanks for the advice though was worth a shot0 -
i made a new alt and started from nothing. by the time i was lvl 30, there was NO coins left to skill up, but i had plenty of spirit points. Now at lvl 40, i still am SOOOO far away from skills it makes no difference any more. Normally i could skill and run out of spirit points, now it is just the opposite. Yes, it is really bad for low levels even with the LITTLE extra you get from quests. it is no where near what it was. Deleted toon. willing to bet a lot of new players are also for the reasons i just gave.0

The DQ21 actually helped my low levels out quite a bit in the past (especially since Soft Fur seemed to drop in copious amounts). The income never came from quests for me since that was minimal, and it sounds like the boosted quest income isn't enough to cover costs either. I used to also grind DQ31s a lot to make money - especially antelope pups that also dropped hay, but not enough hay that I would have bothered without the Dews of Herbs they dropped.
This only hurts new players. There is no reason why they can't change it back since our version does not have a botting problem, but it won't happen because they don't want to be bothered with any extra work on their end.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
