Is -channeling gear or stones a necessity for Mystics?

Since I was originally planning to play a wizard from the beginning I sorta did some advance shopping for my gears but now I have a mystic as my main and only char I'm wondering If she really needs - channeling gear or if I can just resell them and use the coins for other things.

Depends on how you play. I like some channeling but I'm not going to sacrifice much matk, hp, or defense for it. Even for wiz which is mainly used for RB: DB doesn't benefit from -ch.

that depend which gears you speaking about, maybe tell us with gears you speaking about and we could help you more.

I personally have -36% and it's enough, i got it with:

    -3% From my headgear (Warsoul)
    -6% From my R8 chest
    -6% by my R8 weapon
    -6% TT99 sleeve
    -6% R8 ring
-6% Lunar ring (but you can get with a other ring)
-3% From the bonus of my 2 TT99 pieces

I have also the calm lunar: lunar glade that give -6% to get -42% chan total, but i usually use my other cape (glorious robe: tourment for p.def.) cause its +10 shard with 4 garnet gem, but like i said i go easy -36% chan and i do not feel like i need more.

So all i can say is try to get your chan by your gears, but use protection neck and belt.

b:surrenderUnless you're going to tank stuff with your summons too much like a veno, there is basically NO need for myst's -chan

Myst's have really fast chan skills to begin with

    TOO much -chan gimps macros

Summons stats are affected by your stats: but not channeling.

I have been told 24% -channeling is optimal. I am currently 36%.

You need it more than Crit usually...or, I guess I should say its nice to have it. In especially laggy conditions, it doesnt really seem that you have it at all.

A Mystic NEEDS Magic, HP, MP and Physical Defense.

A Mystic does not NEED -channeling. It's just nice to have. b:chuckle

I'd say Clerics,Venomancers and Wizards need -Channeling bonuses more than a Mystic/Psychic. My mystic had the optimal "-24% channel" at one point, but I thought that sacrificing the Magic, HP/P.def wasn't worth being able to channel faster. Mystic skills channel pretty fast to start with, so it's more of a luxury than an essential component to a Mystic's gear.

With Rapid Growth, Demon spark if you're demon, you can probably rest assured you'll have plenty of channel on your own. :)

I'd keep the gear if it's good, but if it sacrifices other important attributes, I'd forgo it. :)

Has someone vetted this out in another post somewhere? Now you guys have me curious, lol. I'd like to see the math behind it, if someone has done so with mystics

I have a bunch of channel atm and like it, but have seen mystics with alot less channel seemingly attack just as fast xD.

Yes. I had asked a while back on a thread. I could miss my guess, but I believe a forum user called Burnout reasonably handled the maths.

I tried to find the thread just now, but I failed. b:surrender

Could of even been one of those threads where the main topic segways into a slightly related topic. *shrugs*

I asked cause just like when I asked about PDef - I wanted to know how much I really needed/should be working toward. b:chuckle

The answers were basicly the same. "You dont need any, but I have xx%." xD

Most endgame gear sets have more than enough channelling for normal use, and mystic channeling is quick anyway.
Feel free to get a second set of orns and other gears for channelling when DDing on bosses and stuff, for example I swap my nirvy cape for tm-6% cape, neck and belt for chan ones and my r9 top for r8 top (don't have full r9, so don't lose attack levels). It seriously gimps survivability though, so having a full channeling set as your main gearset is going to get you killed. A lot. :D

if ya google 'best possible -chann gear for mystics', a good n helpful forum page should come up for ya. in my opinion, if ya mostly PVE n mostly use nature's vengeance absorb soul combo then go for -chann currently i have -24% dont forget rapid growth (tho i cant use it constantly) n demon spark if ya go demon, also guild base buffs (i believe ours is maxed on buffs) can give -10% for 1 hr if ya need that little extra :D
