[Update] Heroic Chest Promotion Issue

Update 8/1/2012

I've just received word that the first batch of missing Heroic Chests has been sent out. There should be one more batch later today as well, so if you have not received your missing chests by tomorrow at 7pm Pacific (8/2), please submit a ticket.

Hey all, here's a message from the good people in Customer Service about the Heroic Chest Promotion from earlier this week:


We have isolated the cause of many players not receiving the Heroic Chests properly from the Wraith Officer's Badge BOGO event.

We will send all of the Heroic chests out to players as soon as we can. We hope to have them all sent out prior to Thursday, August 2.

If you have any questions about this process please submit a ticket and let us know.

We sincerely apologize for the delay and appreciate your support!

    Is this only going to those who submit a ticket or does it include those who have seen this and want to just wait on the fix?

    Because if it's the former, I'll have to inform some friends that even though the fix is coming they'll need to send a ticket anyways.

    The items should be sent to everyone regardless of whether or not they submitted a ticket. If they still have not received the items after the August 2nd date, please have them submit a ticket.

    Someone on Sanc got 55,000 heroic chests for buying 50 rep badges.

    Thats like 550m NPC value worth of mirages (you can sell a mirage to NPCs for 10k each). Thats the TW payout for owning the entire map, just to one person. They also get more than 5m dq points from those chest of coins...

    I wonder how many billions or maybe trillions worth of coin PW's buggy system has just injected into the economy. We're likely going to experience the effects of this for a very very long time.

    That is what I was talking about, the missing chests can be sent yes, but what about the bilions of coins that were putted into game by a glitch? and the spam of Event cards.

    As I mentioned in the previous thread, I'm not really concerned over what me and others never got. I'm more concerned over what some people actually gained by paying a minimum (nothing if you count what they got back). The amount of benefits those players have gained arn't very small, considering DQs open up ways for alot of things that people don't even think about such as the rewards from the maiden-kissed chests.

    Sockets, buff-pills, mysterious chips, fantasy fruits, mirage overloads, hypers, refining aids,
    fashion, dyes...Honestly, the more I think of it, the more pissed I become. Only good thing is that the items are mostly untradable. But what about the items they can refine or dye to a certain color and re-sell for a higher price? b:surrender

    Here is my view...I think I personally may have gotten a few too many chests, but I also dont know an exact amount of rep I bought...I bought enough to get my girlfriend her rank 8...I didn't keep track really...but the chests over ran my mailbox for 2 days afterwards, because my barb isn't my main anymore.

    However, I managed to get some on my alts on different accounts, and they have yet to get any boxes...I wanted them on my alts for the purposes of the hypers and such...if my barb got too many, by all means take them back, but, do it BEFORE I devote 20+ hours to opening the stupid things and NPCing 2130 pets.

    Hopefully this at least gets sorted out to the point of everyone getting their chests, if anything, those having to wait for theirs should get a bonus...or a bulk open option ;-)

    I've been wondering about this myself. How is this going to be handled? A server rollback would be a massive headache considering how much time a lot of people have already spent opening these packs, but on the other hand the amount of money injected into each economy could **** things up pretty badly.

    So, how is it going to be handled?

    Server rollback after a 2x b:chuckle, that would go down well with people.

    What about tickets regarding of not getting dq points from npc'ed chest of coins?

    My husband bought rep badges and never got his chests. He's not too worried about it as all he was really after was the rep. However kind of disappointing none the less.

    Probably the same way they dealt with the goon glitch abuse fiasco : nothing will be done in the end.

    There is nothing they can do.

    They would have to take the chests from everyone who got too many, otherwise it would cause riots from the people who lost their extra chests when others kept them.

    If they server rollback, it will cause major riots, especially after a 2x, and from all the people who don't care and are infuriated at lost progress.

    Unfortunately it's a case where they have no choice but to take the economic damage and learn from the mistake. Hopefully its something they NEVER repeat again. Even from a 50 badge bundle from curiosity, I got 30 mirages, which is 300k. Selling the badges a little below gold price, I still make a chunk of profit and go hypering for free. It's a no brainer investment for anyone with gold to spam these like crazy.

    On the plus side, very few mirages get NPC'd. Even after tens of thousands of these were opened for 24 hours, I still saw catshops buying at 10500. So it's probably going to crash the mirage market a bit, rather than inject billions of coin.

    Learn from the mistake? That made me laugh. This has happened in the past, people got dozens of anni mounts and other gifts once, people got extra event gold once... every promotion they have that involves getting things in the mail messes up. They don't learn from it. They just let it go until it happens next time and then apologize again.

    Though like you said, not that many people NPC mirages. I'm not personally too worried about the economic damage... but it makes it very unfair to those of us that didn't receive thousands of chests.

    I think its damaging when pwi increases your worth by a minimum of 70% with completely new money. If you knew what you were doing, you could have doubled your coin/gold with this promotion, but maybe not as many people bought rep as I thought, and its actually not that big a deal. Which would be awesome for some and sickening for others. b:shutup

    In raging tide, the only effect this had was lower mirage prices like it was when fairy chest didn't need keys. The gold price is normal, even though the 100k increase was from charm and rep sale. The heroic items are costing 100k to nothing because of the insane amount on server.


    I guess the effect of this only appear on much larger servers.

    Well I'm going to quote this. And add to the fact MULTIPLE people had this bug that worked in their favor.

    Even couple of hundred billion coins is not really gonna rock the economy that much. There is at least 20-30 trillion worth of capital out there.

    Well IMO you can bet your *** if 1 person made 500m, 100s did. If not 1000s.
    If you think about it the smarter ones wont NPC the mirages they will wait a month and make even more coin off of PWEs **** up buy selling to players.
    Once again PWE errors on the idiotic side, and sadly doesnt even care.
    I for one will be leaving this WORTHLESS company behind in a few weeks for much greener pastures, as i know many other are also.

    As far as I know, many MMORPG companies **** up sometimes, no game is perfect and many still have bugs and glitches. Sometimes we have to endure it and this game has been pretty old, I heard it released in 2005, so it's 6 years old.
