Wonderful Adventures in Lowbie Land

So recently I've actually been playing my psychic and veno. And having a blast. But there was a slight problem. It was hard to find squad for anything. So obviously, I had to make my own. I world chatted for squads with things like this:
"Forming BH39 pm me if you need it!"
"Forming BH39 pm me class and level."
The purpose? To prevent high levels from joining the squad. Some of the responses from high levels have been hilarious.
"Are you SURE I can't help."
"Please, please let me help you. It's taking you so long to find a squad and I'm bored!"
"Just get it over with already"
"Sin." "Lvl?" "Invite."
"What if I said my level was uh-uh, 53?"
And so on and so forth. Most people have been incredibly sweet and helpful. Others couldn't understand why I wouldn't want a level 100 in the squad. Most of the time though I was able to get a squad together and EU/Full Delta are both still harder to get squads for, so that's good.
And I've been having a blast. There are more new players then I thought but they are forming tight-knit groups and staying together like glue. XD
Things I've learned while running with them?
Pet Tame is actually a great veno lure if you don't have zeal and want to keep your pet buffed.
My psychic can charm-tank Farren with no heals already with white voodoo. How? By kiting him whenever he debuffs me. It's been pretty funny. I didn't realize it the first time and ran through the cave to reset it as I was the only left alive. Meanwhile being a more experienced player I realized he wasn't doing enough damage to actually killed me. So while they were like "I'll look for a tank," I was actually already tanking it. I actually wiped the squad again because I kited him all the way to the beginning of the cave, back to the where they were all again. They rezzed and started DDing while I ran all the way back towards the entrance. I got half way there before they were like "stop, we're fine! Let's kill it!" So it basically was like one of those old timey cartoons with farren chasing me and the squad chasing Farren. I was humming Benny Hill music the whole time to myself. Needless to say the next time I had to do it, I did NOT run so much only while debuffed.
There are more genuinely new players than I thought and many of them are having trouble finding FCs. So they are doing things on their own. They are pretty good at it, although some things are much tougher doing it the lowbie way. It's pretty awesome. They are also pretty nice.
I'm not volunteering my help anymore unless asked. Some people REALLY need the practice doing it themselves. And others are playing the lowbie specifically because they honestly want to play. And watching a high level do it is boring, even if it is fun to be on the other end of it. XD
So what has been other people's experience with their alts? Do you ever world chat in such a way that excludes high levels?

I recently made me a baby cleric to mess around on and it was the same with bh39 for me lol. I wanted to only do it with the bh level range since it is extremely boring having a high level run you through it. >_>
But yah, there is quite a few new players coming in, or so it seems anyway. b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Things are not always how they seem
Will you be ready?0 -
Well, this character started out as an alt, I leveld together with 2 to 3 friends. A psychic, a cleric and(sometimes) another seeker.
All who do have higher level mains.
Running instances like bh and pv was always fun to do, we even tried one of the lower rebirth instances(though we got 1k'd continuesly, so we got a bit annoyed and ran out of orders xD )
Actually the only times we got a higher level to help was the first couple of times on wyvern, and when I was assigned as a tank for my own bh69. We had a level 100 cleric helping then. b:laugh
Leveling together with people your own level is fun. It can prove quite a challenge sometimes, but it also lets you explore your new character's limits[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
While I do not have an alt doing the same, a good friend of mine made a Barb and did the same when making BH squads. She would always tell me about the good and the bad runs she had with at-level players or even the few high-levels who jumped in and failed anyways.
Its nice to see others that are willing to tough it out rather than have a high level roll through the place.b:pleased[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Remember: OP may be a duck|OP/GMs/Devs may not deliver|Search function is your friend|Lurk more|Be wary of Mods: they can't be trusted|This place isn't a hugbox|Your tears sustain me|Know what Bait is|"Soon" may never come|Postcount, Dubs, and other GETs are important|Don't revive long dead threads|There is a section for everything|You can be banned for anything|No Fun Allowed outside of OT|Sweetiebot rules OT|"Circlejerks" are inevitable|Threads can be derailed and saved|Those who use"XD" should off themselves at their earliest convenience|0 -
This is my main and I can tell, that sometimes high level character in squad is fun. Yesterday after my own bh59, I had been invited to fb59. At way to Zimo 102 blademaster stunned then Heaven's Flamed 3 ranged mobs while I was channeling my Blade Tempest ... 44k non crit damage, 3 killed mobs.
Edit:
Of course, I could hit up to 30k without crit with proper skills of my Wizard (and little delay before Blade Templest), but those explosion was great.0 -
Well building a cleric i found very funny stuff .. like sin's and seeker's with less hp than my cleric trying to tank XD ...
So i just say "find a tank pls" and they are all tough and what not like "i can tank it" ...
To that i just say, ty but no ty b:laugh ... And i solo for my newbie ....0 -

Seekers probably have more p.def than your cleric though, which does make a difference. Same with sins. I do enough damage that I can tank most things despite not having a whole lot of hp (pure dex) and have been doing so since I was level 60.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

i have a good bunch of alts meanwhile
didnt do many low lvl vhs on them tho
i would have enjoyed slow lvling on bm but i jumped from 60 to 102 in a lvling madness over a month or two
i missed out a lot of fun i guess
a feew months ago i started to slowly build an archer, since the gear is in account stash anyways
archers rock in low lvl squads (unless total gimps) they deal more damage than most others and can take a bunch
i skipped the lvls 7x - 90 after two bh69 squads with complete failures
clerics who dont know what purify is
clerics who never use ironheart
or slowly- really slowly- die, cause they forget to heal themselfes, then blame the tank and ragequit
if you have a tank who doesnt understand a single english word you are going to have a bad time, especially when he ends up with lead after the cleric dced. might of leave the squad right away.
currently enjoying lvl90 bh on archer
they seem totally op after 90
survival ability is good enough to tank any bh boss and damage output on bow+demon spark is higher than all classes but sin
then you can just go melee and use fc fists
due to higher aps than daggers at that lvl the archer is tanking again
you only do not notice most archers in your bh squads cause they limit themselfes and dd less on purpose
they are usually not attention whoring
unlike seekers, seekers usually seem to think they are good tanks cause of their defense+bp
but in the end every other class out-dds them on a single target
on topic:
i hate it when high lvls join low bh squads... takes all the fun away and makes me wanna leave squad right away
why did i bother to buy gear for my lvl ?
i wanna learn to play my class and test my limitsi like potato0 -

Now I drop squad right away when I see it. I'll just say sorry, and leave. It was funny cuz one time we had an almost full squad and lead invited their friend. I left and lead asked why, and I told her. And she kicked the high level because she agreed. She was like you know what, your right. We have a perfect squad already. LMAO.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

i forgot to mention this: 2 of the 3 seekers there were using AA and the 3rd one using LA .. the sins were a "no" from the begining ..
But anyway, i know a few low lvls that know how to play ... and they are indeed nice people ..0 -

Since I not skip my 7x and other levels, I want to ask if it is possible to tank bh79 using Wizard and at what level.
During my test run I killed about 40+ mobs at the way to Brigand, but was catch by mobs near exploded hands.0 -
My guys and I recently came up through the lower levels with what we call the Fearsome Threesome: barb, sin, and mystic. We insisted on doing all our own caves, and had a blast doing it. We did get higher help the first time through on Wyvern, as we just weren't ready for the debuffs (fb 51, not bh). By the time we had that cave for bh, we were ready. And we turned down a lot of high (but I'm bored!) help, and left a few squads who called in high help.
We learned that within a couple runs, we 3 could do bhs without a full squad, but it's fun to fill out the other 3 and see what we come up with in the instance. We were stumped on bh 69, Polearm specifically. Mystics that level can't purify lol We met some pretty bad clerics in that cave, sad to say.
My psychic and wiz, on the other hand, don't mind having high level help. They run into a lot of 'tanks' who have no clue what it takes to keep aggro from them, usually the ones who have high mains and seem to think they know everything.
But, all in all, I still prefer running with my own level squad, at whatever level, just because it's FUN.0 -
imo if the tank cant keep aggro its not my problem
i expect the healer to start healing me insead after 3-4 hits of the boss (thats not much of a fast reaction time)
gear does change the role of classes
highest gear tanks, it ultimately applies to high lvls but some seem to ignore that it also works for low lvls
cant help when barbs wear +1 calamity axes and dont lvlup and spam flesh realm
/high lvl arrogance rant
@tolliman
bh79 is way easier than 69
stygean is potentially deadly until he runs 3 times, then you can hug him and he will deal half damage
this boss actually hits hard phys damage so i wouldnt recomment tankig it on wizard before lvl90
the other two can be tanked by a lvl79 caster rangedi like potato0 -

For Aware of Vacuity I need to Kill Brigand Transient in the Hallucinatory Trench (FB79) only.
So I will do to get one of my best debuffing skills (Edit: today if 3.4 k HP will be enough to hold his hits in BB).0 -

You mean solo brig and linus as wizz? In BB pretty much every class can tank it, but solo solo i don't think you can solo it before lvl 100 unless charm with really nice gears.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I have Cleric level 78 for it. He has near 3k HP just in case if he will be hit by mob or boss.
And I need Brigand only.0 -

With a cleric you should be able to do it, just have a zeal genie for lure the boss and ask the cleric to BB (unless you think IH can be enough), but i think you should maybe wait to be lvl90 unless you have nice gears for your lvl.
The only mobs in the room are on the platform with the boss so once the boss is lure there's no worry to get mobs on the cleric, so ask the cleric to BB if the damage seem high on you or if it seem ok he can IH and debuff the boss to make it more fast.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I wish I could still do BH runs and kill bosses with people of the same level as me. However, it is terribly difficult to find anyone who wants to do bh39 or 51, even higher levels don't want to help me with those. I don't know where do you people find so many friends to quest with, but I have almost no friends on this character who are below level 80, and those who are, level up to 90 in a week. So now I either do regular quests alone, or spam world chat until finally a high level person agrees to help with BH, but I have almost given up on this character by now.0

Make a new character.... limp/run him over to FC... trade 5 hypers... Log to my sin and clear an FC/maybe with friends if im in a hurry... have a friend kill mobs for my new character... sell heads for the lvl range i need... and then im lvl 25+.... then repeat... till i get to the lvl i want... b:chuckle **** bh's0

I tried to get a FC squad going for my 88 veno, and back when I was 8x on my sin, finding a squad was easy. There were lots of people forming squads, and there were plenty to go with. Forming a squad took less than 2 minutes back then. But as I stood in Snowy and looked at both normal and world chats on my veno, I couldn't find or form a squad for at least an hour due to the lack of people there.

Today completed my level 79 cultivation, have screenshots, here i s one of them:
Brigand killed.
To dig pillar not necessary to kill other boss.
Most dangerous were mobs (some of them had not less than 200k life and I killed near 65 of them while boss had 2300k).0 -
As a 6x Seeker and 7x Veno, getting BH squads is literally like pulling teeth.
In fact, it's SO arduous, that I'm making a youtube series called "Looking For Squad"---starting today. (I had made an episode previously, but it was much too large, and took ages to upload.)
People say this game's not declining, and everything's fine. I call BS. I used to be able to get these squads in a heartbeat, even as a Psychic. Now as a tank (seeker) I can't even get a BH 51.
That's just depressing.
I don't really enjoy high level toons in squad, either. I prefer doing it "oldschool"---I even refuse to wine instances unless they're higher than 69. Doing otherwise is just...wasteful of experience. Low level BH is MEANT to be long. It's supposed to teach you what to do with your class. They made fun of me because I wasn't a R8 Psychic...and then came third cast. It's not funny anymore.
