Lately, i've been researching which pets are best for what. I have a petite sawfly for air pet, but i cant decide between shadou cub and glacial walker for tank pet. I know glacial walker has more pdef, but shadou cub has way more mdef. So, leave your choice with a reason why. Thanks!b:pleasedb:pleasedb:pleased

Also, I was wondering if i should auction house my rare pets or catshop them.

    Glacial. or Eldergoth Marksman.

If your pet fights melee, then it will usually force mobs into fighting melee back which is physical damage. Shadou is well balanced and has much higher mdef, but its balance means it doesn't have the high physical defense that a Glacial Walker has to tank from melee range.

An Eldergoth marksman or an antelope stay at range with mobs and allow them to cast on each other. This is usually a magic attack and at a slower rate, meaning the pet takes damage less often and its based on their magic defenses.

Eldergoth Marskman, Eldergoth Sharpshooter or one of the cactus pets that are tame able.

Antelopes are all melee as far as I know D:

Well, Glacial Walker is generally what most venomancers choose.

Magic defence shouldn't be a huge factor though. Magic mobs/bosses will do melee when attacked up close so more often than not, physical defence of the pet matters more than the magical defence. The only ranged mobs that continue doing ranged damage are archer mobs, but their ranged damage is physical.

Magic defence comes into play mostly if you're considering tanking bosses whose magic damage hurts a lot but for those, you'd probably get a squad anyway.

I think both. Look at stats, skills and dont forget you need something good when things go wrong.
I have glacial as main tank and good DD, when he died or I need magic tank, I have Shaodu. If we have in squad another/better tank, I use my Dark wanderer (earlier Scorp) even for lure. And in the air Petite sawfly. For me its good combo, although its not easy to lvl them.

P.S. If you don't have enough pet slots, begin with glacial.

My veno tends to use the cub more than the walker for multipule reasons. (pve arcane veno). Both of them are Lvled and have maxed skills. If not clear, my choice is my BabyHoe (cub).
    1. Cubs are faster. Personally walkers **** me off because they r always running behind me and I have wait on the. My cub never falls behind and is there on time to get aggro.
    2. Cubs are smaller and are easier to deal with in a squad because ur squad can click around on mobs and such without clickin on ur pet. Yes, there is tab but when te squad needs to kill off a certain mob in a group tabbing isn't always the fastest way to go.
    3. If u quest in ur higher lvls)) mobs do both magic and physical damage. I tend to seem to get into a lot of group fights when I quest. What I mean by that is my pet attacks the selected mob and other walk by and join in and the mobs that join in normally do magic damage since they stay at the range and not run in to attack melee.
    4. Personal experience in FC. I use my pets in FC. My pets have saved squads from wiping and saved the tank when the cleric is rezz'ing a fallen squad mate. Since every boss in FC does some sort of magic based attack which can spike, I find the cub better suited. Yes, my cub does keep aggro when I use his skills and just spam heal him. I find the speed on my cub a lot better for slasher for known reasons.
    5. Cubs are cute, walkers not so much. Lmao!

But, just like everything in pwi it seems like its your playing style and experience that u should decide for u. Get a walker and cub and see which u like better even if it's for 5 lvls. U can sell the one don't like or keep him for a back up when ur main pet dies. (keep a back up pet if ur pet bag allows)
I hope this helps and happy gaming :)

Not entirely true... there are a number of ranged mobs that won't melee and do only magic damage. Triocs (including the boss Hercule Trioc in Delirium) and pyrogolths are the most likely to be encountered, but there are also several in Morai, such as the Shroud quest mobs Wraith Flowers and Barksteel Dryads.

There are also some mobs and bosses who will melee, but whose ranged attacks only debuff, doing no damage. The culti boss Noxious Philestine, the tree mobs in the Wood valley in Disaster, and the world boss Soul Hunter (which also stuns if the fight continues more than ~20 minutes) come to mind in this category.
