Lol, you out dd'd it. Hercs have pathetic damage output and get about half of their aggro ability simply from reflect damage.

The veno may also not have had leveled their herc, or their herc's skills. Hercs start with the attack skill Pounce, level 1, which has a chance to stun and increase attack rate (.8 is their base attack, so it doesn't gain much) but I don't believe it does damage. Most veno's switch that to Bash which DD's better but not much. They then need to level that skill to 5, which some veno's neglect to do because of the coin cost.

Herc's do much better damage on [ ? ] bosses because these bosses count as level 150 and pets don't experience level damage reduction, where a sin will do about 1/4 of their normal damage. In other words, a herc basically generates 4x more aggro on those bosses than normal, and even more because of their reflect.

After about level 60 a herc is somewhat useless in squads that don't want to wait for the boss to basically be solo'd.

Herc < regular squad member with proper gear in terms of damage output.

Even venos have to be careful not to steal damage from their own pet. The herc has great defenses and that is what is makes it so that venos can use them to tank. So you're going to need to use aggro control if there is no cleric in your squad or you can't take the aggro. Things like using chill of the deep, amping others damage with subsea, using ribstrike because its likely doing less damage than you auto attacking in the same amount of time and helps the tank take the damage.

Herc, or pets in general, only have decent aggro on lvl ? bosses because they bypass the damage reduction effect from lvl150. On normal lvl mobs or bosses they never had good aggro unless you're talking about Nix maybe. The aggro of pets also suffered a lot from the increase of gear quality. Most stories about herc tanking TT and such are from the times where ppl still had stats in vit and used mainly 1* or 2* equipement.

I'm still somewhat surprised you get aggro at lvl64 though (since I doubt you went all spark nuts right from start). So I'd say like Saku that there is a big chance the Herc wasn't lvl100. Maybe the veno got the pet recently (sale going on atm) or just lvled faster then it (which is very likely to happen unless the veno spends 1h+ per day and per pet purely on pet lvling). Also, maybe the Herc had pounce not changed for bash/fr.

It's easy to steal aggro from any level herc. hercs weren't meant to tank in squads for that very reason..only reason a herc may have tanked TT in a squad is when there were no over power gear back a couple 3 years ago and a venos pet was the best DD because of the damage penalty..pets don't get penalized the way we do in TT. I never try to tank in a squad with mine and any decent veno won't either!

Because herc's get their aggro from reflect, the level instance affects their ability to keep aggro. If you took the same squad to bh89 for example you wouldnt steal aggro from the herc off the bosses in there. They hit so much harder, that the reflect then does much higher damage back to the bosses.

When ever people ask help for Quillhog King, Kkewy or the BH51 culti bosses - fushma, ranker, wyvern and luminoc, I have to tell people to control their dd or they will steal aggro - those bosses just dont hit hard enough for reflect to work as an aggro mechanic.
