Hihi archers. I'm making this thread at the request of a friend. He recently made a high LP genie and was wondering how to go about building. High dex or vit/mag? I couldn't really give much advice since I don't play an archer and don't really intend to. If I were to suggest anything I would be in favor of dex, but it already seems as though archers already have a lot of anti stuns, so they could probably benefit more from spamming other genie skills like wind shield or w/e.

Anyway, high dex, or vit/mag? A list of ideal genie skills would also be awesome. :3

Thanks in advance.

It is just my own opinion that PVE/TW you probably would be better off with a mag genie so you can spam skills.

    For PK a dex one.

Dex is very situational whereas vit/mag is more useful in more situations.

It really depends on your friend's playstyle.

Some people feel they want a anti-stun genie like badge of courage or fortify. Some people prefer to simply tank a stun up by absolute domain or a expel.

Depending on what skills u pick, the amount of points u shld allocate to the genie attributes differs too.

Here's a little general list of the skills commonly picked:

Tree of Protection - Highly Recommended whether it's pve or pvp since it recovers alot of hp at late game.

Extreme Poison/Tangling Mire/Spark - Weaken Tankish enemies. Picking one of these skills I think is quite a must since the heavy melee classes becomes really hard to kill at late game. Most people simply used either Extreme poison or Tangling Mire. Spark is a viable choice for fist archers with blazing arrow.

Badge of Courage/Will surge/Fortify/Lawbreaker/Expel/Absolute Domain/Faith - All common uses against stuns, silences, or whatever u disliked being casted upon u. Just pick one or two among them. Most commonly used is expel and absolute domain

    Holy Path - For running/kiting.

Occult Ice/Stunning Blast - Freezes the opponent for kiting. Stunning Blast has a way better chance of success as long as your opponent doesnt has anti freezes up, but it has a shorter range than occult ice.

Other skills people consider, although less popular:

Lightning Chaser - Interrupts skill casting

Thunderstorm - Can be used as a finisher/chained with the metal combo

Cloud Eruption - Gives Chi, more used as a pve skill though.

Wind Shield - More of a sin's favourite, though still used by some archers. Increase aps, evasion and reduce damage taken. Downside is it overrides the archer's evasion buff.

Soul of Fire - Used against wizards's deadly fire combo.

Mix and match according to your playstyle..

ToP sucks for anyone but +12 JoSD, even then it's useless most of the time.

Lawbreaker requires str to be effective, not many archers have made use of a str genie. Same with Occult.

CE is used more as a PvP skill than PvE.

Keep in mind the difference between preventing a control skill (fortify, AD, Will Surge, Faith) and breaking out of one (Badge, Remove Paralysis, Lawbreaker).

I find I am just far too clumsy most of the time when I time my fortify or ws. Also, Piercing Flames is a fun skill when those pesky clerics try to fly away with faster aero than me in TW, though probably not hugely useful against intelligent opponents.

    Vit/Mag

    Holy Path
    Frenzy
    Extreme Poison
    Absolute Domain
    Expel
    Cloud Eruption

    Theres a skill bank.

My genie has all of those but CE.

Frenzy is probably the most used skill on that list.

I'm not sure if you're looking for guidance for a PVP or PVE but for a PVP/TW genie I went for high magic and decent vit mostly because I wanted a fast regen and be able to use more then one skill at the time.

On my genie thats 81/103 with genie gears I have both mag and vit 90+ with magic slightly higher.

    Skills:

Nullify Poison - Against annoying Mystics in PVP. The seal feels like forever..

Fortify - Anti stun against sins or cheap anti stun for IGing

Will Surge - against Psychic, the only way to really kill a high refined Psychic unless you want to Apoth them.

Holy Path - Don't use it much but comes handy from time to time.

Expel - Anti physical damage, useful against sins mostly.

Absolute Domain - Since they changed it I haven't used it much but like holy path, it comes handy sometimes.

Cloud Eruption - Chi is your best friend, especially in TW with large groups and BoA.

This is what I use, I've tried a few other skills but those are the ones I liked the most. Other good skills would be the magic immunity ones like; Oxygen Bubble (anti water damage), Soul of Fire (Anti fire damage) etc. I'm not very fond of Frenzy, EP etc mostly because I'd rather have skills that keep me alive then help me do a little bit more damage.

I thought TOP is useful in proportion to your HP. Why would defense levels matter.

Because JoSD provides more defence than anything else. Your ToP can tick for 100k but it's still useless if you're dead before the first tick.

it is a high grade shard that provides 2 DEF LVLs each. It is used as endgame shard. JoSD along with high refines = ultimate defences

    This is my Genie

Stats on it are 90, 66 vit green dex with Warsong Medal Gear for Vit and Dex with the rest of the points dumped in magic

It's fairly balanced in my opinion. I'm sage so I don't really have many problems with chi in combat, I generally just build up chi before hand with Chi siphon which i just find to be a lot more efficient than Cloud Erruption for the way I build up chi.
