No idea what I'm doing

So, newbie here. I just dled the game, and have no idea what to do.
What quests do I do as a veno? Are there certain ones I should accept?
Is it easier to just grind my way up?
Is the game pay2win?
Is there any type of PvP ladder?
Is there large scale PvP?
If anyone could answer those, that'd be great.

If you open the quest tab using Q on the keyboard, you should see a tab on the upper left corner that says Available. Click on it to see all the quests available for your level. The ones filed under Normal are the ones that gain you coins and experience (you should definitely do these), and the Errand quests are optional. Grinding your way up is not easier, but if you're into that, you can.
It's only pay to win if you want to PvP.
Not sure what a PvP ladder is, but if you mean rankings, there's a link for it under the Community tab on this site.
There is large scale PvP. Every weekend, certain factions will have territory wars over regions on the map. Factions that own land get paid large sums of money for every week they manage to keep it. So if that's what you're playing for, you will most likely have to powerlevel and use the cash shop.ALTS

If you're a beginner to the game, do most every quest that the "available quests" list shows you. Focus on any ones displayed in yellow/gold color, but don't be shy of doing them all.
You may not be able to do them all, because the game is now so slanted towards powerleveling that --- in the early game, anyway --- the XP from some of the quests may level you past the level range of other ones. (Don't worry, the really important quests can't be outleveled.) Grinding is something that comes later, if at all --- though on a venomancer it WILL come, and sooner than for any other class, because of having to level your pets.
The game is only pay-to-win if you're interested in playing it like the sort of competition that can be "won". Play it for entertainment and amusement, and you won't have to worry.
PvP has its own set of servers, and I don't know much about it. I avoid PvP myself.0 -
Do every quest you can in the early levels. They come fast and furious.
The benefits are:
For a new player, it's the easiest way of getting enough coin to get by.
You get guided around the map.
You'll meet other people who are doing these quests, more chance to get invited into squads and factions.
the bonuses. In every city there is the questmaster and lucidia. They reward you with special chests for completing 10, 20, 50 etc quests. Most of the chests open to give you 'fantasy fruits', which are give big chunks of exp. Don't use these until you are in the mid-twenties.
I managed to do 50 quests before level 19 on my latest char.0 -

What server are you playing on? On heaven's tear you'll rarely if ever see anybody else doing quests until... Level 50-60 or so? Maybe higher, depending what time of day you play.
I'd still recommend new players do their quests, even so. As you said, those quests teach a lot about game mechanics, combat tactics, and the map, plus they're decent income early on.
But yeah, you'll gather up a lot of items that give free XP through the first thirty levels or so; save those for when XP gets harder to come by. That may not be until level 50, if you do the tideborn quest chain.0 -
Dreamweaver.
Once you start doing the Archosaur-based quests there are always other people working on the lvl 19/29 cultivation quests. Often with higher-level alts or faction members giving a hand.0
