So I was the weak link I guess but a bunch of faction members and I did Lord of Captivation in SOT yesterday. We didnt have a bm/barb but decided to have a go anyway.

We ended up trying a few different plans but all failed and we squad wiped more than once. We then got a barb and all lived happily ever after.

Anyway, actually having a challenge was good fun and dying didnt detract from that. I'm glad there's still a bit of fun to be had.

Thats all, just saying my bit.

EDIT - just realized what I typed doh.

I realized that the fun went out of the game for me when other players
got mad when they died to a mob. And would usually attempt to blame it
    on someone else, lol.

I noticed it especially in Warsong--once a bm died because he ran ahead
of everyone, aggro'd the boss & got killed because I hadn't caught up in
time to set up bb fast enuf for him. He really came unglued. Cussing and
    calling me noob, etc.

I thought, wow, he didn't lose any exp, the squad didn't wipe, we ended up
killing boss & everyone got credit . . . . The only reason he got mad was
because HE got killed, I guess kinda a blow to his ego, nothing else.

I started noticing that this was fast becoming the norm, players getting
truly upset if they died, even if there was no other penalty. And even
tho it's easy enuf to brush off, still, it took the fun out of it for me.

The fun days were when a squad basically went into an instance expecting
to be killed, lol. I remember when things would invariably go south, and
everyone was laughing & telling each other to run. (Remember jumping
in the lake at Pole? can you still do that?)

It just seems players now (mostly the high level ones, to be honest), take
it as a personal affront if they die, like their char is invested with the
player's own personal sense of worth.

Yeah, the old failure runs tend to be the ones I remember most fondly, lol.
    Fun times, fun people.

If you like to fail, go to lc server and form a random bh100 or nv squad without asking for weapon. You will have alot of fun.

Okay, maybe some detours lead to dead ends...

If I had any idea that you'd run into a party like that on the next run, I would have stuck around, just to watch it all burn down~

Some of my most fun dungeon runs have been the disastrous ones.

I recently went on a BH 69 with two clerics, a mystic, two archers, and a fail tank. Tank quit halfway through nob. After the initial party wipe caused by aggro pinball, we ended up trying it anyway for the heck of it. It took a couple tries, but one of those archers can now say he has tanked nob and pole. b:chuckle
