Very highly cash oriented.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
so not worth starting if im not interested to put my whole pay into this game ?0
-
Depends, it is very cash oriented, but the items in the cash shop are able to be resold to players for in game coin, so if you figure out how to generate coin, you don't have to put a dime of rl money into it.0
-
It is hard to make coin if you do not Cash shop. This is a fact.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Depends on whether you'd call merchanting hard.
Everything in the game can be gotten without spending a cent. Just that spending those cents allows you to do stuff faster.I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. And even less would I go by Olblaze. Please, take a second to read a person's username.

You can buy the gold that they sell at the boutique with in game coin. If you don't have a problem working hard toward making money, you can get anything you want in the game. You don't need to spend a lot of money to do any of the PvE things. PvP on the other hand, you need to be well geared for, but as I said earlier you can obtain that gear with in-game coin.

Read that link and if that sounds like something you wouldn't mind doing, and you end up being good at it, there won't be anything you can't buy really. Takes time to build up capital though, so you'll have to keep that in mind.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Cash shopping makes the game easier, but it's not like "if you don't cash shop, you won't ever be able to get this kind of content". In other words, you don't need to put money in to access the same content people who pay do. You can just farm up the coin and get it eventually, albeit will take a long time.[SIGPIC]Octavia is best pony[/SIGPIC]

For cash, either you spend a lot of real like cash, or spend loads of time. One way is very fast, the other is slow and steady.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Hello
It is what you make. b:laugh
You can get all items without spending any cent into the game. But you can use cash to get within a short time all. It is what you like to do.0 -
it isnt necessary at all to cash shop, ive spent $10, in the form of a prepaid card, on this game in over 3 years of playtime. with hard work and friends you can achieve goals, even without cash shopping. but cash shoppers do have amuch easier time then the poor people[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
-
The game is based heavy on the cashshop if you want convenience of not farming.
The thing is here though...the in game coin and cashshop gold are directly exchangeable. You can farm up coin and buy gold for cashshop. Or you charge rl money, buy 100 packs and merchant them to make even more cashshop gold.
Cashshop does not always = using real money. I buy hundreds of packs a day from the cashshop for merchanting, not spending any real life money on them.0 -

This game is free in the sense that if a player doesn't choose to pvp or power level, level 100 with a fairly good set of gear is obtainable without spending real money (Just a lot of farming/merching time).
Many of the players, however, are highly cash oriented.*I never thought Perfect world was beautiful... till I discovered that my graphics' quality settings were on low*0 -

You can PVE well without cash shopping. Though spending $10 will let you get fashion and mounts before say level 90. Thats a rough estimate. But if you want to PVP well you will need to spend some money. Can't get around that no matter what anyone says.AKA PermaSpark, Heartshatter0 -
-Making money on your own by killing stuff will only cover your potions spent in leveling, at best (not to mention that it's boring as all hell). There is just no way you can do this effectively until you've racked up enough cash to buy the equipment needed to solo the more profitable dungeons (and even then your class may not allow you to do that).
-Doing dungeons with other people (TT, nirvana) can make you a nice profit, but finding a squad for that with sub-par equipment is nigh impossible unless you have friends that want to take you with them (on a regular basis).
-You can make good money by merchanting, but it requires a fair amount of money to start doing effectively (as well as some expertise). It's also something you just need to set up and wait for it to be done, not very exciting (since your other ****-poor character doesn't have much to do in the meantime either).
Making money in this game isn't as straightforward as in other games where you just mine rocks or cut trees (hint hint) for a decent income. A lot of people will tell you that it certainly is possible to make money in this game, but these are usually the people that already have it made. Starting out as a free player is absolute hell, and all I can say is that I don't think it's worth it anymore.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
If you wanna be lvl 100 in 2 months and PK at top lvls, than yes, you'll need to spend money like everyone said.
If you play the game to play the game, enjoy the PvE and everthing, you'll never need to spend a single dime9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris0 -
Put it this way.. you will be frustrated if you worry about cash shopping. Know what your needs are, before "buying".Lonely man with a big heart.0

As a new player it will be fun at 1st, but the higher you climb the harder it gets, you can survive just fine without cash shopping if you are willing to work for your gear and items, either to farm mats, herbs w/e or learn to be a successful merchant, it all depends what are you willing to achieve here.[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=14516063001&dateline=1364756666[/SIGPIC] Ty Silvy0

You can do just fine without cash shopping.
However, without cash shopping being a "factor" in high-end PvP is going to be pretty hard, even with successful merchanting. Then again most of the high-end folks have R9, which costs upwards of 1,000$.I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. And even less would I go by Olblaze. same here, i have been playing this game since 2008 (dont look at the forum acc date, this is my 2nd account, but the 1st it's from 2008) and never paid anything for items or something like that... and I have to say that most of the fun come from the friends that you'll do in-game and stuff..... b:pleased!!![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Best advice I can give is if you're going to not spend money on the game than it would be best to only play with other people who do not spend money on the game. Unless it doesn't bother you that someone was able to get nice gear in a matter of minutes while for you it is going to take weeks if not months to get the same thing.
that... but have fun meanwhile ![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

HaHa... with the responses so far (admittedly the majority being honest and good intentioned), I'll be surprised if the OP decides to stick around and give it a go. b:laugh
Lets face it... there is a reason cash shops that out right sell power items have such a horrible rep in the world of MMOs. It absolutely kills the motivation of most of those who decide to stick with the "free to play" route and farm/merch their gear the hard way. Sure, you have the 10% who are good at merchanting or have the patience of Job to grind for endless hours, asian style. But for the vast majority, reality eventually hits them how long and hard the road is to even semi-decent end game gear and they eventually either join the credit card crowd or outright quit.
Doesn't help either that the symbolic "road" passes through some of the most barren and lonely parts of the map (mid-level questing/grinding areas) before you reach 95+. No wonder 99% of the population heads off to snowy village first chance they get.0 -
If your not established for a number of years like some here are, then you will prob spend cash..alot of newbloods do that...poor things.
Now days i just buy my gold from the Auction House with coin.Usually around the holidays i get alot of pw cards thats the only times i use those to get any gold for game. This game is like washing hair with shampoo... Rinse and repeat if desired.
