ok so if I leave my game on for awhile (like an hour or more), and then port to raging tides my game crashes and exits out. if i launch a new game and then teleport it wont. whenever i log in and already at raging tides, it also runs fine. any way to stop this from happening? its annoying, because i get in a caster party, then port to raging tide, and then boom i lose my party ~_~

Eh I know a couple of people who crash every single time they teleport down there.
I myself sometimes crash. Even if I just try to log into a character down there.

Dunno what's up with this weird city. b:surrender

I can confirm that verifying the files does not work. I have had this problem also for over a year now.

I've recently had a few computers at my disposal, with various different OS.
I've had five different computers with Windows XP, Vista, 7 32bit and 7 64bit.

On each and every comp (which varied in stats from a Pentium 4, i3 to i5 processor 2GB RAM - 8GB RAM) each comp had the same issue.
I verified the files each time and the same error occurred.

This is not a hardware issue, this is a game issue.

Please fix this problem as it's VERY irritating. b:irritatedb:irritatedb:irritated

City of Raging Tide is a messy city with lots of catshop and High graphic's which is making it high traffic area.Mostly ppl crash when they teleport, this problem can't be solved i guess just On Best Performance before teleing to Raging Tide maybe u won't crash.

This is a problem for a lot of systems, and even some newer ones are having trouble with it. (Why that is, I don't know.)

There's two ways to fix this.
    1. Turn your distance setting down a notch or two. (I can run the client at 60FPS, and not drop below 25 or 30FPS even in TW, but my client will still crash if settings are maxed.)
For me I just had to take it down to the orange notch, but some systems may need to go one below that.

    2. If your distance slider is already turned down, reduce effects, or turn off the landscape textures.

Alternatively, you can also switch to low graphics mode before you teleport to Raging Tide or Tellus, and then restore it afterwards.

I've teleported to West Archo many times and never crashed there. I don't think it's a catshop issue.

Generally i have FPS of around 90, less in places such as West Arch, even then it doesn't tend to drop below 30.

    My graphics card is: 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti - 2 DVI,HDMI,VGA - 3D Vision Ready

More than enough to cope with PWI.

It's not so much an issue of your video card, but the rest of your hardware. The client is still CPU heavy. Depending on your OS, what else is running, and particular settings on your system, you could have the hottest and fastest system and still have trouble.

Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

I'm 100% convinced this is a coding issue as this PC can play games like Skyrim on max settings and nt stumble for even a moment.

Nothing that would affect the performance of any games.

In any case it's been highlighted that this is a problem for many people and not just a unique case, therefore what may or may not be running in the background is somewhat irrelevant in this case.

In any case it's been highlighted that this is a problem for many people and not just a unique case, therefore what may or may not be running in the background is somewhat irrelevant in this case.

Actually, no it's not. Lots of people have systems that are bloated with processes running in the background and slowing their systems down. You've got to remember, all of your newer games are GPU dependent, so they aren't affected as much by the CPU load. PWI on the other hand, is CPU dependent, and wasn't even designed to run on (or take advantage of) multi-core processors.

Then you've got to remember that a large number of people that are playing this game, are playing it on systems that barely meet the minimum system requirements. They're here because their systems can't handle the newer games.

Given all of that, your statement is completely incorrect.
I have an old (by my standards), Athlon 64 X2 TK-55 Processor with 1GB of ram, and an integrated GeForce Go 6100 that's using 128MB of my system ram. It's a clean system with almost nothing on it and Windows 7 is trimmed down of unnecessary processes.
Your system quite easily scales 8 or even 10 times faster than this ancient little laptop, and your video card is double that again, if not more. I don't have the issue on it.

In fact, I'm not having the issue on any of my systems now that I have taken the distance setting down a notch, but it did happen on my higher-end PC's on occasion. The game was designed back in 2004 when hardly anything used the GPU and we didn't even have multi-core processors. It doesn't play well with newer equipment sometimes and you need to compensate for that. Your PC and other games can handle multi-threading, PWI can't. So when that CPU that PWI is working with starts to spike, the game gets affected. I won't split the threads to another core like everything made in the past 8 years will. And that's without even getting into the memory leak and mis-managment the client has.

Valid points i'm sure, but the problem still existed on my old computer which was Pentium 4.
So in terms of hyperthreading it's still irrelevant.

My computer hardly has anything running in the background, only the usual. This isn't the issue.

There is a more recent update for your graphics driver. The update was released on Tue May 22, 2012. Please update that and see if it will help with your issue.
Make sure the game and your drivers (network, sound, motherboard, etc) are fully updated.
Next thing that you can try, you can go to the game Launcher screen, go to Settings, and turn ALL of the Settings to the left, to be OFF and un-check (turn off) all of the graphic settings
(through the game or through your graphics manager).

    Hmm.

Be it a problem that new computers face or an old problem that was simply swept under a digital carpet that resurfaced with this new update, i still feel this is something that needs to be fixed.

I'll tell you something honestly right now.
Last Wednesday 10* orbs went back on sale for 25 gold each, i bought 2 with gold i had and was going to buy two more by charging gold.
Before i charged gold i wanted to switch to my BM, as i wanted to refine it's new claws.
Upon switching, my game client told me i didn't exist. I thought to myself 'why the hell am i about to charge $50 into this game if it can't even be sure if i exist or not.

It was tempting to type out a philosophical debate on whether or not any of us really exist or if you're all part of my own imagination and i part of someone else's.

But then i thought to myself, even in my own weird and wonderful world i wouldn't be twisted enough to have a game i like to play constantly crash whenever i try to change character or teleport to certain parts of the map.

In other words, they missed out on getting some of my cash due to their lack of customer service. Petty, i'm sure, but a fact none the less.

O well, I tested all what you said, but nothing helped.
Random DC in Arch, during wq, DC during tele to Tellus and RT, during TW, it made me very sad and pissy.
Don't say its my 4 core DDR3-4Gb Win-7 64b with 700w electrical power supply and my NVIDIA GTX-580.
Direct-X 9 and higher all ok, no virusscanner in pwi map or firewall...!
Fast ADSL internet, no programs on background, CC cleaner, regular defrag.
7 years computer experience, from old DOS to Win-7.

Problems started direct after the patch 05-23-2012, it never happened before.

    Alternative-3, goodbye PWI....

I have two R9 characters +12 and they've both stopped because of these problems.
I know it are the malfunctioning servers.
I suggest to merge with the European servers, there only play a few people.
Either make a switch or remote server possible for a character.

At least i found fun on ****.
No attack on PWI but an alternative to make fun with friends.
I wasted btw +1000$ here each month, at least 6 months long. Done with load ZEN now :-)
Thank you btw for mail: Kickoff Summer with our Bonus ZEN Coupon.
But I've 600 gold still available, maybe I will use it if game condition is again as for 23 May 12.

I want to thank PWI because the fun I had in this game, all was cool, the only reason why I leave is the bad questionable server situation...!

    Goodbye all
    b:bye

edit: Lol, for note **** of an alternative game A?ion. I wish you guys a lot of compliments and hug for game support >.> Woot... so many ppl with similar problems, it's not possible,....omg ...xd ^^

This is a common issue caused by a delay in the response from the name database when the client is trying to retrieve your character list. It's pretty common if you're experiencing a little lag and the name database server is responding a little slow. You see it a lot more on the servers that share name databases.

I find it funny that I never had any issues such as the crashing when teleporting to RT, yet I'm running this game on a comp that barely meets the minimum requirements. Windows XP SP3, 1GB of RAM, Radeon X300 video card, Pentium 4 running at 3GHz.

I didn't say lag is the issue, and your location in the game has little to do with it either. The data from the name server database hasn't gotten to you yet. It's either because the packets are getting dropped, or because of a delay in the response from the name database server in sending data to you. (Which I believe I covered already.)

Whether it's on your end or not, there's latency (lag) in the picture somewhere. Most commonly it's because of a bad connection between you and the server. somewhere along the route a hub/router is dropping packets. On rare occasions it's because the server itself is loaded a bit heavily and it's being a little slow to respond.

In either case, it doesn't have anything to do with the discussion of this thread, which is having the client crash when you teleport to RT, or sometimes Tellus.
