TW changes may be coming

Based on Chinese server.

1. Ten Million big note will be used to bid instead coins. Minimum 1, Maximum 99.
2. A faction can have up to 7 defending wars at same time.
3. Crystal HP increased. Tower price increased. Tower attack increased. "Some battle field" (don't know detail) can have more towers and some new equipment.

    I doubt you can find 7 factions with more than 30 DIFFERENT people on any given TW night on LC.

    Some battle field probably means lvl 2 and lvl 1 TW maps

    I doubt you can find 7 factions with more than 30 DIFFERENT people on any given TW night on LC.

    HT might have eight guilds that seriously want to TW, but arranging the territory borders such that a seven-way gank would be possible (even taking landless guilds into account) would be... Let's call it remarkably improbable, and leave it at that. You'd end up with startup newbie guilds that can just scrape up the bidding fee going up against the top one, and why would anybody sensible bid like that?

    A minimum bid of ten mil... I dunno what to think about that, because I honestly have no idea what an average bid is. I'm sure some of them are much more than that, but I get a sneaking suspicion that at least some of them are much smaller, too. I think it'd discourage bids by guilds who just want to try out a fight to see what it's like, which would cement the big guilds in place as only those who think they can win the attack and win back the fee the next week will bother spending it.

    It's about time they gave TW an overhaul. It's been stale for too long. I don't agree with raising the minimum bid amount but that will probably kill off fake bidding.

    There seem to be other changes like making PK protected areas more visible and a new set bonus for R8 gear.

    A new PK event in Morai too?

    Ooo and they are making it so you can cancel a reforge and revert back to your previous stats if you don't like the results. I can't tell if it is just r8r or if it is for NV too.

    R8 set gear bonus is good, cause N3 blows it outta the water while being easier to obtain with good stats. I'm not sure if I read it correct, but I don't think its gonna be enough of an improvement to rate with or beyond N3.

    I'm not sure how any of those changes are improving or overhauling TW. Unless the towers are like 10x damage, teleport people away, do pushback, drain chi...etc. Or the towers cost in the millions to make. More towers is just more annoyance to skip with pots and skills.

    I share shopitup's concern with less rich factions.

    Only so many tactics that can be used in the current set-up and they have all been done to death. The same old map week in week out is the biggest downside of TW atm

    I wonder what happened.... there were supposed to be new maps introduced a while ago. I guess that went the wayside like base wars...

    I think the TW battlefield should look like the actual territory in question. In other words,
    if the battle is over Hidden Orchid, then the TW battlefield should BE Hidden Orchid.

    Imagine the battle for Archo--running thru the streets, empty of all save the two guilds
    who are fighting. It would really lend itself to some creative battle strategies.

    I'd like it if players couldn't shoot THRU objects (and I'd like this not just for TW, but for
    the whole game). Where you could jump behind a tree or a wall for protection.
    ("Cover me, guys, I'm going out!")

    To make TW interesting again, they have to change more than just the externals of it,
    the bidding, the payoff, etc. They need to change the way the TW looks and works.

    Well that's in first person games not MMOs, where you aim and dodge, not tab and press button...and getting arrow/spell folowing you as you change direction. I wonder how things would be that way.....b:dirty

    Archo doesnt really lag itself. with no players wouldnt really be dffierent from tw in fps. But TW in ragind tides would suck soo hard on fps Lol.. unless the unlikely happen and they improve engine, i would never wish to tw in RT example.

    From that news page, it seems that they are also going to improve r8r bonus set. Instead of 8 attack lvls for the full set, you will get 12 attack lvls, and also some individual class r8r improvements. I don't think they will be giving a set bonus to the original rank 8 set. Clerics 3 piece bonus set will be 8 defense lvls instead of 5, and wizard's 3 piece set bonus will be 6% channeling instead of 3%.

    新8军装备属性调整:

    The Morai pk event will be between people from 3 different orders, no exp and drop lost penalty if die in this event. It looks like it will be a mini TW where each order's participants has to defend their base crystal from the people of other orders. [" 击杀另外两势力的守护水晶"]


    The prize is based on a point system like in public quest...if you get at least 30 points, you get something like a pet teddy bear for a prize? ["并有机会获得观赏宠泰迪熊宝宝"] It doesn't give much details about the point system, so I am not sure if the 30 points is based on the kills you make, or damage to the crystals.


    My Chinese is a bit rusty so I am not exactly sure what this sentence is referring to, but I think it might be trials related. It says that you will see a big difference in the award for completing the higher rounds. It says the reward is an individual base to increase the incentive for players to complete the trials of higher rounds, so it might not just be additional drops from the bosses.

    帮派副本奖励变更,根据通关轮数的不同,每个关卡将给予玩家不同的奖励。每通过一轮,下一轮的奖励会大幅增加。



    Other things that is of less interest:

    The 1k stream elder will be fired, if you want to test your damage, there will be a new npc to provide you this damage test service around Arch City.

    Quests for lvls 1-60 will be made easier and with better rewards...this is concerning the ones where you have to kill bosses.

    The daily quest where you go to the lower lvl instance (fb19, 39, 51) to slay a boss summoned by a player lvl 20-40 will be active for the entire summer. This is the one that gives you a chest with a chance to get the fat rabbit, anti stealth potions, and some other pets.

    New wedding rings and wedding suits.

    New fashion.

    And finally you get buy those badges that gives exp, spirit, or reputation from all three orders in Morai, so it will no longer be restricted to one order.

    TW is what still keep a lots of people playing and buying gears, any change to TW is scarey. TW is already expensive, make TW even more expensive "may" actually kill it.

    It would have been cool if there a special PK event to occur there where you have to defeat others from rivaling Orders for prestige/influence or other Order prizes (but you have to wear a special set of Morai-tailored gear available from an NPC before being able to participate)b:chuckle

    Now if only they enacted the last part about gear...

    I'm curious as to how that will turn out though.

    Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but my idea about TW battlefields actually
    looking like the territory itself . . . . TW would still be an instance-type
    situation, only the battleground would look like the territory in question.

    So battle over Hidden Orchid, e.g., each side would port into TW, and land in
    a battlefield looking like Hidden Orchid, only no players except the 2 guilds.
    Shouldn't be any more lag than any other instance I would think.

    They should make it that when I kill someone... he stays dead... instead of popping up elsewhere. Would give me a motivation to actually level up my **** gears.

    Never going to happen.

    Granted, I know nothing about programming, but since they already have the
    code written for each territory backdrop, I would think that's a pretty big
    chunk of code already written.

    And it's not just to "admire the scenery," lol.
    It's a way to revamp TW in a way it needs to be revamped, in order to
    restore/revive interest in it. Guilds could work out all sorts of new
    strategies & approaches, different for each territory.

    I would venture to guess implementing this change would take a lot less
    work than coming up with a whole new expansion, which they seem to
    do every couple of years.

    I always thought it'd be more interesting if the defenders had a defecit. Lets say -20% attack and -20% defense. You could call it a surprise attack debuff or something. Then we would see more regular turnover of areas and lower level factions attacking more often. The average non-TW orientated faction can't compete with the TW-centric factions because people tend to get 1 shot, they're unorganized from lack of practice (and stay that way) and it ends up in a 5 minute roll. Give the defending faction, which is like to be the career TW faction, this debuff and you'd get smaller factions more willing to try. The career TW faction would either have to definitively defend or could take it back the next week.

    That way you wouldn't have to split up 200 people (100 of which are online?) to defend 7 territories and set up a 50+ v 15 people scenario but could stay with a 50 v 50.

    That sounds interesting.

    However raising the prices on towers and associated instance costs... big factions have no problems spending the millions of coin to buy all your towers, pay for cata scrolls and pay for pots for the cata barbs...

    All the small factions who say they love the new TW changes will be screwed by increased costs. Not that I really care about that, I don't. The problem I have with this is continuity. This makes no sense when you factor in a 6 month map reset.

    The 6 month reset may be more fair to smaller factions, but PWI lost a good portion of end-game veterans to this change.

    this is going to kill TW even more.
    smaller guilds will not be able to afford this only the guild who dominates and is already rich will.

    These changes better not be in lieu of resetting map.

    Others have some of the same problems the whole Mirage pay for TW thing had.

    Honestly, they don't know what they're doing. They're reacting to player QQ and their own bottom line, that's why changes are thoughtless.

    Also, their current dev team are mostly graphic designers. They don't know how to alter or create anything that requires intimate knowledge of the code base and that explains why their fixes to old stuff is horrible and why their new instances are so poorly designed.

    Trials are horribly clunky. They should have studied Rebirth or Old Lunar for a few months before deciding to create a new instance.

    I honestly think they broke the code for Old Lunar and then scrambled to try to fix it, which is why we have the version now with less stuff.
