Why is there a 6 day wait on deleting characters?

Also, why is the "account" stash limited to a single server?

    I would guess the wait is to avoid accidentally deleting a character you want to keep, to give you time to change your mind, and maybe to prevent people creating characters continuously and deleting them after getting rewards from low level quests.

    Account stash is limited to a single server probably for the same reasons you can't transfer your characters to other servers. The database would cry. Also, there's no guarantee the servers really communicate with each other in that way.

    It isn't about changing my mind. I'm new to the game and still exploring. I've finally made a choice on my race, class and got the whole build thing figured out but now I need room to make a new character and I can't. I have to wait another 5 days.

    I have a pretty damn good idea why this limit is in place. You get your self to level 2 and you get the starter gear through some quests. This gear will get you a couple grand when you sell it. Add it to your account stash and delete the character.

    What suck is the account stash is labelled as "Account" Stash. I got the idea right away that it ties to my perfect world account. Meaning I can get access to this gold on any server since it is labelled as "Account" Stash. O well.

    BTW, the neat thing about databases is to store data it wouldn't be any different then what they already got going on to save your characters stats, gear, reputation, achievements, pretty much your character's profile, well, if they use a database. A binary save method would add some serious limitations on what they can do.

    The way the game is set up I'm guessing they use a database. Hm, maybe they use both. Maybe they use binary saves for world deco and/or NPCs.

    Anyway, it is obvious they are using a database for your account so you can sign up on their website and then access that same database when you log in to the servers for whatever Perfect World game you play.

    Yes, that is why they have the 7 day wait. Just because you don't need the week, doesn't mean others don't. If you've made your choice, but it's not possible with the characters on your current account (you can have several) then you can either delete them, and wait the week, or create a new account. There is no work around here, so deal with it.

    Yeah, I mentioned that in my post. It's more about the cash rewards, free gems, and mirages that you'd get though. Not that they're very profitable compared to what you can do once you have a higher level character by farming mats, herbs, or higher instances.

    Of course they use a database, but it depends how they've got the db tables and servers set up, how much they're willing to play with them, and in-game consequences of allowing it. It's also possible their game servers do not directly interact with each other in any big way.

    Yeah. If they wanted to, they could probably make connections between your account between servers, but there are issues that come up that they do not seem to want to deal with. These are more than the database crying. Check out the first post of this thread

    There is more going on here then you think when it comes to the database.

    I made a total of 17 characters on 3 different servers and I can't make any more characters so I'm betting they pulled that info from one database that all the servers use.

    Anyway, the point i'm making is it can be done.

    I'm guessing none of them got very high leveled, which is when many of the different builds started getting more useful, diverse, and getting cool skills.

    Oh well. Yes it can be done, but it probably never will be. cya and best to you.

    When saying it wouldn't be hard to make it so you could access your gear from Archosaur server on Raging Tide server on the same account using the account stash stone, it would be quite hard seeming they are both different server groups, Archosaur being west coast and Raging Tide being east coast, both server groups are updated seperately and operate in different time zones, so to debate your statement...NO it would be very difficult to enable account stash to work through different servers.

    if u get ****, if u accidentally delete, if you are not thinking straight and/or are in a bad mood. its better left there than taken away.
    the loser fail nab cleric from dreamweaver who quit pwi, but still wanders the forums.
