The developers don't go out of their way to make a class unenjoyable; there'd be no point in putting such a class in the game at all. There are at least some people who enjoy any class or playstyle you can think of, pretty much. (Heck, I hear some people even play their clerics as game characters, instead of just using them for catshops like most people do! b:laugh) How do you normally like to play, what role do you like to have in a group?

That depend what you want, did you play other games before?
What do you like? Melee or ranged? Magic or physical?

You can check that and you will have a little resume for each class: http://pwi.perfectworld.com/gameinfo/class/archer

Its really depend on what you like and wanna play, some people can say play a sin is fun and other will say its not and they prefer play a mystic, that depend of your taste.

Ask yourself this. If you could have the power to do the following. Which would you enjoy?

    Supporting others.

Being a BADDASS boss that nothing can take down.

    Killing stuff very very quickly.

It then branches out from there

Well you play single players game right? It's a bit different with mmos but in those games do you prefer to sit back and fling spells (might enjoy psychic, veno, wizzy) if so. Or do you prefer to run in and hulk smash everything to death? (You might like BM, Barb, Sin) Do you like to use bows in games that offer them? (you might enjoy archer) Or do you enjoy being able to heal yourself in battle even if it means going about things slower? (you might like mystic) As for cleric, its a very support role oriented character. You're pretty much the nurse to all these characters and will mostly deal in supporting others. As there isn't really a single player game that has you helping all the npcs, I can't really think of a single player equivalent.

All of these types will be very different when you play an MMO and you will find that you might prefer to do something different on them despite your single player preferences. But it is at least a good starting point to determine what kind of character you might want to try out first.

Then that narrows your classes down to 8 things out of 10.

    Killers

    Archer
    Wizard
    Psychic
    Assassin

    Support Class

    Cleric
    Veno
    BM
    Mystic

Do you want to be a magic user or a physical damage dealer.

Since you're new, i'd recommend a cleric. It's the only class that can fly right away. And will teach you well the mechanics of the game right away. Things like what aggro is and how to other classes should be going about controlling it. It's also relatively cheap to start up and is wanted in mostly any squad.

I also agree with cleric, but more then just for the reasons stated.
Archer is a complete BICH to level the first 40~60 levels.
Our damage is based on hitting a lot of crits and being such a low level our range and crit rate sucks. So you'll be burning a lot of coin on healing potions as well as arrows that you could invest elsewhere. Now if you plan on dropping some money into this game for lets say a charm or something then by all means hit up the archer class.

my 1st class was an archer (60ish)... they suck till you get higher lvls...
2nd was barb(80ish)... very fun class and dont die fast unless you get aoe magic mobs
3rd is sin (101)... they suck till higher lvls... but they kill fast and have Blood Paint (heals when you attack)... high aps and just fun to play for me b/c i like to DD
4th is a seeker(95)... good support class with buffs and debuffs and can tank well...

I agree with her, you will be able to fly at the start, you gonna be able to heal yourself when you quest and you will find easy squad for stuff.

Also mystic are fun to play, for a first char i think that can be good, you can heal yourself and ress buff yourself.

Maybe try a few class, lvl them to 20, its not long and you gonna see the one you prefer, but keep in mind that at lvl 20 you don't have all the skills (the attack).

    Veno [My first class] -
Pros: Solo ability - Protection (Control Pets) - Magic based attacks
Cons: Squishy (but protected) - Low damage (to keep you save) - Not very helpful in FC often (reason I stopped)

    Wizard:
    Pro: High Magic
    Con: Squishy - Slow Start

Mystic: [Newest] [I'd prefer it for your start]
Pro: Moderate Damage [Pet] - Heals (AoE as well.) - Plants for Extra damage, debuffs, Heals
    Con: Squishy (but Protected)

    Psychic: [2nd class]
Pro: Moderate Damage - Flashy moves - Personal Buffs - Varous debuffs
    Cons: Squishy

    Cleric: [Lvl 1 Wings]
Pros: Buffs - Heals - moderate damage
Cons: Squishy ... really the only con.
Note: Lvl 20-30 is difficult if you can't heal effectively.

Archer: [Lvl 1 Wings (MP Drain] [3rd class]
Pro: High amounts of damage - Knockdown, Stun, Freeze to keep you safe. - Range AoE
Con: Slow start up (Lvl 1 - lvl 12) - Squishy

    Assassin: [Current Class]
Pro: High damage - Mid game: Gain Blood Paint (Healing move for you and tanks) and Chi Skills.
Con: Slower start up [Wouldn't pick for first class] - Squishy
Note: 60+ Easier than picking an Archer.

    Barbarian:
Pro: Large HP Pool - Tiger Form ;D - Physical AoE Nuke [If it connects]
Con: Low Attack (Tiger Form) or Low Accuracy from Axes.

    Seeker: [New]
Pro: Defense - Melee AoE Physical - Debuffs - Varied assortment of AoEs and Single Target Moves.
Con: (Where to start) Low Magic Defense - Low Attack Speed - Low Damage Output
Note: imo you would do best to go with Blademaster.

    Blademaster:
Pro/Con: Varies Skills for 4 weapon types
Pro: Stun Lock (Axe) - 5 aps possible (Fist) - Damage Amp - Varies Range Skills - High Defense
Con: Not much - Low Hp to barb - Mag hurts but protection against it.
    __

AoE - Area of Effect - Hits more then one enemy. btw
Born to be an Assassin, raised as a Thief.

    Veno [My first class] -
Pros: Solo ability - Protection (Control Pets) - Magic based attacks
Cons: Squishy (but protected) - Low damage (to keep you save) - Not very helpful in FC often (reason I stopped). Venos are actually great for FF. Seal-Freeze AoE , a reliable DoT-direct damage , Myriad , Amplify = great support , it's the ignorant people who don't know their abilities

    Wizard:
    Pro: High Magic
    Con: Squishy - Slow Start

Mystic: [Newest] [I'd prefer it for your start]
Pro: Moderate Damage [Pet] - Heals (AoE as well.) - Plants for Extra damage, debuffs, Heals
Con: Squishy (but Protected) And MP consuption till 75

    Psychic: [2nd class]
Pro: Moderate Damage not moderate , it's high , very high - Flashy moves - Personal Buffs - Varous debuffs
    Cons: Squishy

    Cleric: [Lvl 1 Wings]
Pros: Buffs - Heals - moderate damage
Cons: Squishy ... really the only con. Needs to be learned properly , people expect much from you
Note: Lvl 20-30 is difficult if you can't heal effectively.

Archer: [Lvl 1 Wings (MP Drain] [3rd class]
Pro: High amounts of damage - Knockdown, Stun, Freeze to keep you safe. - Range AoE
Con: Slow start up (Lvl 1 - lvl 12) - Squishy

    Assassin: [Current Class]
Pro: High damage - Mid game: Gain Blood Paint (Healing move for you and tanks) and Chi Skills.
Con: Slower start up [Wouldn't pick for first class] - Squishy
Note: 60+ Easier than picking an Archer. Actually this is just wrong , after lvl 60 archers gain good weapons , which lets them kill things before they land a hit (at least that happened with mine , and her equips were ****). Assassins are in constant need of Potions and buffs even with 2-spark

    Barbarian:
Pro: Large HP Pool - Tiger Form ;D - Physical AoE Nuke [If it connects]
Con: Low Attack (Tiger Form) or Low Accuracy from Axes.

    Seeker: [New]
Pro: Defense - Melee AoE Physical - Debuffs - Varied assortment of AoEs and Single Target Moves.
Con: (Where to start) Low Magic Defense countered by DEF LVL buff + other buffs - Low Attack Speed doesn't matter , you spam skills , seekers aren't APS freaks - Low Damage Output , my lvl 36 vit build seeker kills mobs faster than any Blademaster , and survives way better. Combining Magic hits with physical + the various debuffs make them really strong.
Note: imo you would do best to go with Blademaster. I don't see something blademasters can do that seekers dont except achieving 5aps which is overrated and useful for PVE mostly

    Blademaster:
Pro/Con: Varies Skills for 4 weapon types
Pro: Stun Lock (Axe) - 5 aps possible (Fist) - Damage Amp - Varies Range Skills - High Defense
Con: Not much - Low Hp to barb everyone has lower HP from barbs at lower lvls , not much of a con imo - Mag hurts but protection against it. and sacrifices phys def , their protection is temporary and generally risky , most mobs hit with physical up-close
    __

AoE - Area of Effect - Hits more then one enemy. btw , just like Seekers and psychics

I don't want to seem rude or troll , just adding some things i found a bit weird in my opinion

i think it is hard to say cos it is very bias toward aps as so many player just cant seem to play without it.
i sometimes wonder how we could ever hade survive without 5aps and we did b:pleased

id have to say psys are pretty fun and not squishy in white vodoo btw
clerics at high lvls gets boring as hell most i know end up reading books while they sit in bb all day unless they have to pay attention to stun mobs where they just redo bb after their done(yes talking about delta mainly and bosses)

sins are a pain for ur first class

    archers are cool

    bms fun and always wanted

seeker whoever said their squishy to mag hasnt faced a 100 def lvl seeker -.- and fun class to play if u like running into a bunch of mobs and killing them all XD zhenning ftw

barbs ull get fed up later lvls when sins and other aps classes start stealing aggro every other second or so

mystics are fun XD but can be a bit hard if ur just starting can be rly confusing

venos are fun but half the time are unloved other half loved to death but ull nvr be satisfied with ur own dmg if u compare it to any other class but ur pets pretty kick *** \o/ (love killing ppl with my bone dragon while im in feral concentrate)

    // edit i forgot wizzie

wizzies are fun if u like to high high dmg numbers

-.- note AA classes feel a bit underpowered against ? bosses compared to aps classes on certain bosses (we make it up in tw though thats where wizzies shine the most)
