client directory into exception list?

ok so i feel pretty stupid asking this, but im not exactly computer savvy, ive had a problem with the patch updating and all, and i got advice to put the client directory into my antivirus exception list...i dont exactly know how to do that, so could someone please explain to me how to do this please

You can look up the support website for your antivirus program, or use its help features, and read about how to add files and folders to its exception list.
There are no stupid questions. It is better to ask and solve a problem, instead of idly waiting for the problem to solve you. (wow, I need to write that one down )
