Okay so I was sitting in front of my laptop and I wanted to update the pw client on it.
So it was version 604, while boringly staring at the long *** update I saw a file flash on the screen that was called "Servermerge.xxx" xxx being I do not remember the extension.
Is that weird or what? Especially because of the talks about the merge on the chinese version.

Anyways I do not have a screenshot. It flashed for just a brief moment. =/

    Not sure what to make of that. I don't recall any of the files having that extention, either. If they were going to do a server merge, they would merge their own databases in-house, and give a small client-side patch for the serverlist.txt file. That file can be found under C:\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\element\userdata\server\serverlist.txt

    What you saw was servermerge.ini
    I don't know what it is exactly but I see it in some of the pwcn patches I have...

    I'll go hunt for the one you saw.

    It has nothing to do with our version.
    I don't know why they added it in to our files though.

    Probably not. I think that file has been there for a long time but no one really ever noticed it.

    It seems to be a log of all the server merges pwcn has had. Doesn't make too much sense but then again that's just wanmei logic.

    According to the the PWpedia, the servers are designed to be able be merged if necessary. They probably won't do it because the population is fairly high on all the servers. Maybe it's something related to that.

    If they removed it from the patch they send us then our version probably wouldn't work at all b:chuckle That or we'd have some huge issue that seems totally unrelated but the missing file would be the cause.

    Pls dont merge teh servers. I get horrable lags on teh EU servers, so i plya teh South Coast servers. They R fastar, and insted of being uppity and french, they is smooth and Mexican.

    Wonder if Inveturd would ragequit if they merged?.... Or would there be some other idiot on another server that would become his arch nemesis. That would be amusing to spectate for a few months. :P

    I doubt it.
    There are definitely quite a few files that sit there in files yet are unnecessary for gameplay. The reason why they sit there is because the patcher can't actually delete anything within the .pck files.
    One good example of that is p2p pw's housing files... While it's not as much as p2p pw has but you can see the ui for it and everything. Even though it's not even used in pwi it still sits there...

    Well to be honest, I was actually expecting a (Server Merge) back when they began to do the (Annual Reset of the 'Territorial holdings' for {TW})...b:pleased


    Because that would be what they would actually have to (do/enact) B4 a merger of Servers would be possible; since back B4 they switched to the (Annual Refresh version) of {TW}, they woulda had alot of 'TW Guilds' who woulda up'd and quit the game outright! Had {PWi} "Ever taken, all of their formerly (Indefinate holdings) of the territories that they had already held, on their own (server maps) from them....// And then just dropped them onto someone elses (server and territorial maps) where they woulda ended up holding nothing at all, on the remaining merged server."

    Or had they chose to (Merge the Servers) without letting (either side) of the merger being allowed to keep any territories at all, by a full 'Territorial Map' (Wipe & refreshment) "Back during the times when everyone held their territories until they actually were defeated for their territories."..... That woulda Majorly Pissed Off (both sides) of the Servers {TW} Guilds, instead of just 1 side of the Servers guilds.......b:lipcurl



    So I think that they actually switched to the {Refreshed Servers {TW}-Maps Idea} to get everyone used to having too constantly get used to the idea of not holding any territories (Long term) anymore "So that when They Do do a Servers Merge" that no one would be able to complain anymore (atleast {TW} wise) since all {TW} Factions from the newly merged servers, would still be on an equal footing for the biddings of the newly merged (Servers) Territories.....b:quiet



    So! I'm just suprised, that they still haven't done any Mergers yet; considering how dead the servers have all become lately......

    The obvious servers to merge are the 2 European servers. There have been many requests for this on the Euro forums, and there has even been intelligent replies from PWE. Watch this space.
