Barb test in SoT/Aba

The new Aba/SoT bosses have 2 new skills, one is a buff and the other is a powerful big-hit that happens as soon as the boss is aggroed and repeats after some time.
The big-hit on aba/sot bosses seems to work different for barbs in tiger form, here is the test anyone can do:
You will need
1. a barb in tiger form.
2. any other melee toon.
3. some guardian charms (optional) and a cleric to res.
How to do it
The toons will be buffed with cleric/bm/barb. Then, walk near the boss, do not attack just trigger the aggro by the proximity and check the damage received. The damage will not appear in the log so you have to watch out for the floating numbers. After the first blow there will be a DoT that can be purified. Wait the DoT take effect to make the boss resets by the toon's death.
What to expect
1. The barb in tiger form will receive a lot of damage, around 10k followed by the DoT.
2. Any other toon will receive an absurd amount of damage, like 30k or 40k, even with more phys. def. than the barb. Deaden Nerves works as expected here.
3. Pets will receive the damage and die and pull as well, but remember the attack will happens again if the boss is not killed very quick (like in 1 spark). So the tank will receive this attack again during the fight.
The point is
the big blow will not kill the barb in tiger form but seems to 1-hit any other toons. Of course it will kill the barb if he has less than 10k HP in tiger form but in that case I think he deserved it.
It is doable for average geared squads if they have a barb, that's all.

We were stacking our sin with IH heals and sending him in with Deaden Nerves on. Boom, instant dead but also instant healed from Nerves and IH. Then the rest of the squad followed along with a bb.
The boss seems to have an initial 1 shot (was hitting my seeker for 11k and he has 10k hp, but was hitting my cleric for only 6k and she has 5k hp), but that 1 shot seems effected by defense levels or shields (adrenal numbness, bb) and attack level reductions (weaken/devour). It also can be AD'd through.
Kind of sucks they made AD a single person buff right before they released this boss.
Anyways, the boss will give itself two buffs after about 20 seconds. One is like our new skill where its strength grows with each hit. The other is a reverse bp where it starts healing just as fast as it was previously dieing as it absorbs your damage.
So the easiest way is to kill within 20 seconds.
If that's not possible then when the boss buffs itself use weak on it.
Have the BM use a purge pole.
Have the veno purge.
Have the seeker use soulsever minuet (attack level reduction)
Have the mystic put out spider vines (slow, muddle, attack dmg reduction)
and basically just stall until the buff is purged or goes away.
Having two clerics really helps, so one can bb and one can clean up dead bodies but I'd recommend bringing a rez scroll so the cleric doesn't need to drop bb if you die.Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. Mystic, Psychic, and Wizard left to level. b:victory0 -

They are just looking for ways to reduce our drops and income in game and create more coin sinks. They don't give you things to accelerate your XP and now prestige, because they are such nice guys. Its all about getting you up to that point where you can sell your house to pay for that shiney new set of armour and weapons. No money in eq less than lvl94 anymore. And if you can get the books for free, many people won't want the tokens.0

Pretty much opposite conclusion for me. The "1 shot" as you call it doesn't 1 hit me, and doesn't seem to be affected by sage spark.
I only see 2 possible links, which I still need to test (but was busy with warsong xD), but I suspect either the damage being greatly reduced by physical def (got to see with my bm) or maybe soulforce/refinement lvl (could be just me wanting that though, I did notice that those getting 1 shot generally have high refined weapon compared to rest of gear).
EDIT: btw, big hit is a bleed that comes with 150 chi and doesn't go away after dying (so wait till it wears off before you use scroll/buff/town/rez). On my barb it hits around 2.5k a tick, on my sin it hit's 12k a tick. This is without damage taken by boss during his buff. Till now, my 66% chance to evade the bleed didn't kick in even once.
ALSO : on barb I ask NOT to bb, and on cleric I don't bb. As far as I noticed till now, the bb damage reduction doesn't seem to help on the the attack that actually kills ppl. The rest off his damage is a joke anyway. IH is way more effective. He only kills ppl in bad brainless "spark->auto" squads that take more then 20sec to kill it.0 -

regarding Aba boss:
my BM got oneshot/bleed to death 10k hp unbuffed
my demon barb 13k hp standing buffed around same pdef/mdef could fist him the whole time while a mystic friend was healing me , highest dmg i got was around 4-5k.
Also the bleed only ticks 800 dmg at max while my BM gets oneshot by it.
so its clearly a class issue and kinda stupid. Where is the logic here ? both have around the same def and hp values but one gets onehsot and the other can do it with a myst healing ?
I think i forgot iam I PWI, devs dont mind resonable game mechanics.0 -
Yah, its sounding like barbs take 1/3 the damage from what I'm hearing.
I think PWI was trying to solve two issues with this boss. Clerics bbing every boss, and aps being the tank. The irony is with the bleed effect it becomes super useful to be able to spark the bleed off, and from what I could tell with the slower squads was he was bleeding every 15 seconds right before I trip sparked purify.Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. My sin's have about 10k HP -barb buffed. My Barb has ~14k. Barb needed more than just BB for heals.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -

You think it's the class or tigerform only ? Might test the bleed on bm and barb someday xD
As for the bleed, yes you can spark it off. However, the 1st tick comes really fast. If it 1shots you, it's really risky to have that toon tank.0 -

Good thought that it may be tigerform that reduces the damage. She hits my barb for around 5k, my cleric for 6k, and my seeker for 11k.
I'm having no problems tanking these guys. I've duo'd Aba's new boss and I may try soloing the seat boss sometime. The duo of the Aba boss was BM trip sparked+HF'd, I devoured, trip sparked, TMd and tanked with aps. It was dead in about 10 seconds.
That was my criticism in my previous post was that these are supposed to be the anti aps bosses but the easiest way to kill them is still to aps. I've noticed the bleed damage against my barb seems to be around 2k per tick + its normal attacks. It's hard to tell if thats before or after paint though, but considering the bleed is the most dangerous thing and it about equals my paint heals (granted, I'm only hitting for 3-5k because of its buff) and it can be sparked off it really isn't much of a challenge. It just takes longer to kill. I may try an invoke+purge pole combo sometime, lol. My point is killing fast, sparking often to self purge/resist, and paint heals are still the best things to use on these bosses so its a big criticism against pwi that their anti-aps bosses still favor aps.
I can see the argument to bring a veno for purge in Aba. Bring a seeker or wizard to decrease defense levels or increase magic damage output. It's a bit dissapointing yeah that bosses 1st time buffing depends on time and not on for instance a hp amount. Though, with a normal average geared (+/- TT99/r8 at +5 and immac sharding) squad, both bosses are very doable. Way to many exagerate on how "undoable" the bosses are and that's kinda annoying. It's just that not every random sin can stealth-solo seat and aba now, which is a good thing imo.
I found bh aba boss is the easier one. Tbh, you don't even need a healer if there is a decent geared barb and the rest of squad knows how not to aggro. On seat boss I actually just spam skills. Even though it's technically melee damage, they hit normal. I even used sage twinstrike today b:victory In squad, I even got a "wtf" from the barb that I stole aggro b:laugh
Btw, veno is not even necessary even though they are handy. I can't 100% confirm, but the "IH" seems to heal based on damage (or number of hits) taken. Just not attacking is enough to not have boss heal.0 -

I read that the IH buff causes the boss to heal when recieving damage, rather than die. Its a good time for the BM to MSS to reduce bosses attack dmg and then pull out purge pole, the sin to rebuff itself with Focused Mind/Deaden Nerves,... just camp for a while and use skills instead of auto attacking until the buff dies, then go back to killing.

Its 100% a class issue my barb was standing and fisting so True form isnt the trigger to reduce dmg.0

Yeah. Mystics are worthless there. They don't have mdef/pdef debuffs, all their pets are melee, and they won't get the 0 dmg reduction penalty on the boss. No wonder it's impossible for Mystics to get into a squad.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -
soloed him yesterday, pretty easy, his dmg didn't bothered me, the bleed was covered by BP, the only problem is his physical defence buff or whatever is that, besides it takes me 3 minutes it was pretty easy. i even did the last sot boss and got a book b:pleased

It is just common sense!
The bleed effect happens in 30 secs? So if you kill it with aps in 20 secs you did a good job, kudos for you. The fastest way but NOT the only way to do it.
Your squad can't kill it in less than 30secs? Let the barb hold aggro and kill it nice and slowly. Still doable. b:victory
Your squad can't kill it in less than 30 secs and doesn't have a barb? Then tank will die in 30 secs, second tank assumes while the first is ressurected, tank dies/tank res, on and on and on. Still doable. b:victory
Oh you have zillions HP or refines or anything and can solo it? Great for you, that does not makes all the above methods false, nor the barb dmg reduction. Btw, any averange to good barbs can solo it, just need a little practice and some time to kill.

the explination someone gave me for that random 1 shot happening so much was that the boss is basically absorbing all the dmg u do and dishing it back out. not sure if thats totally true or not but that would explain all the r9s getting 1 shot so easily. and a super easy way around all of it is when the buff pops up simply stop attacking. boss wont heal and the squad wont get owned for an 11k hit. itll be more like 1-2k0

Wrong. The SoT boss does not heal himself. Read the test carefully, there are 2 different attacks you are thinking in beeing the same. The SoT boss DOES the 1-hit/DoT and does NOT heal himself. The ABA boss DOES heal herself AND (plus, other thing, addition) has the 1-super-hit/DoT.0 -

Wrong, both do the "healing" thing. It's not really a heal like clerics have though. It heals depending on the damage/hits the boss is taking.
SoT boss :
- Bleed depending strongly on characters hp and partly on physical def, gives chi
- Buff that heals boss depending on damage/hits taken
- AoE damage skill that isn't really a problem
- Buff that reduces damage taken by melee attacks (but doesn't affect skills even if they are melee).
- AoE stun
Aba boss :
- Bleed depending strongly on characters hp and partly on physical def, gives chi
- Buff that heals boss depending on damage/hits taken
- AoE damage skill that isn't really a problem unless you don't know about the following point :
- Buff that increases attack depending on damage taken
- AoE mp drain0
