Genie Questions

1. What is the max I can make a Genie's stat? I was hoping to have 145 energy on my genie, but I also want to have 100 DEX on it. Is that possible?
2. How do Genie equips work, and what's the most they can offer towards a stat?
3. How effective/powerful would Spark be as a wizard if I had 100 DEX on my genie? Is this approach more effective at PVP (particularly 1v1) than using Frenzy?
4. Wouldn't it be better to use Aquaflame Armor over Wind Shield? Sure you have 10 seconds of being x% weaker, but for the first 10 seconds you'd have more damage reduction. I'm confused on this because I read the endgame Wizard guide, and I notice 2-3 times DaKillanator mentions using Wind Shield as a last effort. It seems like AA would be a much better choice here than WS.
5. How exactly does Mage Star work? Can it replace ToP/Second Wind?/Wind Shield? Since I'm making a pure DEX Genie, I'm not really sure which spell I should have as my "Oh ****!" spell... if any.
6. If I have to choose between Badge of Courage or Fortify, which should I choose? I read the Genie sticky by Adroit, and while s/he says that s/he spams Fortify a LOT and loves it, when s/he misses or times it wrong, s/he is forced to use BoC. I don't plan on buying a super fancy genie with 8 different skill slots, so if I get a genie that can only use 4 slots, I'm thinking it would be better to have BoC since it reacts to stuns rather than prepares for them... your thoughts?
7. Exactly how do Lucky Points work? Is there a way to know ahead of time how many skills your Genie will have, like right when you make a new Genie? If I use a Genie EXP cube, does it make my Genie's lucky points worse? My friend says that using EXP cubes messes up the Genie's lucky points, not sure where he got this info...
8. Is having Relentless Courage for -channeling worth it? If I have armor that adds up to -10 channeling (btw, how much -channeling can I get up to anyways?) does RC stack with that? And if so, is it worth it? Do many Wizards use this Genie skill?
9. Should I go for as much +crit or -channeling as possible?
10. How does Tree of Protection work exactly? I've always used Second Wind, but I've decided to make a pure DEX Genie so that I can hit as hard as possible with skills like Extreme Poison, Spark, etc. Is ToP on a pure DEX Genie plausible? 2-20% once every 3 seconds for 6 seconds... does that mean that if I had 4,000 HP, and I activated ToP during some PVP, I would get 800 HP after three seconds, then again at six seconds?
Thanks for any advice, tips, or answers to any of these questions. b:chuckle

1. yes
2. you drag and drop them and they add stat points. warsong emblems give you max 6 per stat, warsong medals give max 4 per stat of 2 different stats. (i.e. +4 mag +dex)
3. 112 is the most dex you need for spark, so 100 is quite good but not the best possible. it is infinitely more effective (in 1v1 specifically) than frenzy because a- it doesn't reduce your defense and b- it can be combod with sutra (genie spark, essential sutra, divine pyro, pyro, wotp, divine pyro, pyro if you're demon).
4. i have never used either so i cannot comment here
5. i have never seen mage star as useful, but then again i've never used it so again, i cannot comment
6. fortify, because you can predict stuns pretty easily (and save ~20ish energy). badge of courage will always have a chance to fail unless you have 120 genie dex.
7. it's random. click here for more information.
8. see 5
9. it depends on how you want to play. you usually try to boost whatever you've already got, so demon mages generally go for crit and channeling whereas sage go for +atk and +magic. i think about -40%ish chan is plenty, from there onward crit would probably be better to have. all personal choice, though. there is no "perfect way" to play, just recommended routes.
10. yes. at level 10, ToP heals 20% of your hp. every 8 dex it heals 1% more, so with 80 dex that's 30% after three seconds, then 30% after another three seconds. here is a video you can watch to see it in action, if you're interested. i personally find ToP extremely useful. combined with leap, it's one of the most effective ways of surviving.wizard pvp videos: youtube.com/user/elijahpvp0 -
Thank you so much! What an in-depth reply, just what I was looking for.
You definitely helped me decide to go with the following Genie spells:
Spark
Holy Path
Tree of Protection
Aquaflame Armor
Badge of Courage/Fortify
Although you make a good point for BoC, if I were to get my Genie's DEX to 120, wouldn't that be more ideal than using Fortify? Could I have my Genie's DEX at 120, and it's VIT at... let's say, 150, so that I could comfortably BoC and Spark/Extreme Poison/Holy Path? Is a build like that possible?
Is 100 the most you can put on a Genie without any equips? And how much +stats can genie equips give you... like how many +6 Warsong Emblems can you put on one Genie?0 -

your genie can have up to four pieces of gear, with a maximum of 32 stat points possible added through that gear.
warsong medals will create "orbs", 3x medals = level 4 +4/4 to two different stats of your choice (probably vit/dex or mag/dex)
x288 (i think) warsong emblems = level 6 +6 to one stat of your choice
if you're going for pure dex, get a Discipline genie because it has the lowest base str which is completely useless to you.
all in all though, it comes down to preference. whatever you feel is most comfortable and/or efficient is what you should go with.wizard pvp videos: youtube.com/user/elijahpvp0 -
Ahhhh okay, I see now. Thank you! I will go with Fortify then and aim for at least 112 DEX. So why Discipline over Longetivity? Since Longetivity has +15 to DEX, wouldn't I be able to distribute 15 points to other stats before I would a Discipline Genie?0
-
longevity has 5 base str that cannot be reset any lower, so discipline gives you two extra stat points over longevity.
disc is, +3str +5mag +5dex +15vit
long is, +5 str +3 mag +15 dex +5vit, iircwizard pvp videos: youtube.com/user/elijahpvp0 -
So I guess the question is, should I purchase a 81+/100 Discipline Genie, or should I just make one and hope I at least get 6 skill slots?
Also am I supposed to max Badge of Courage if I plan to go with the 120 DEX plan? I know you said to keep Fortify at 1...0 -

when you level up fortify, the only thing that changes is its percentage to lower your magic defense lowers. if you're really worried about mdef dropping, you can combo it with elemental shell (which gives you +1,000% earth/fire/water/metal def) to combat its debuff. however, BoC actually increases your chance of removing stun without increasing the energy required, so yes, max it.wizard pvp videos: youtube.com/user/elijahpvp0 -
Interesting that at 45 you have to start putting 2 points into an attribute instead of 1. Alright so can you help me with some math? Not sure if my figures are right.
You take a brand new Discipline Genie, and it has the following:
3 STR
5 MAG
5 DEX
15 VIT
That gives it an energy total of 115.
I just made a new Discipline Genie, and gave it a few exp cubes, Spirit, etc. It is now level 34 and has 45 DEX. I'm not sure why exactly. I think a few early levels it was given more than one point to distribute, but I can't remember.
So... what's the max level a Genie can go? I actually saw someone link a level 101 Genie the other day. And will it always costs 2 points from here on out to place these points in DEX? How many points exactly will I be able to put into DEX by the time it reaches level 100, or the max level?0 -
Err actually it's base + 40. For your discipline for example it's :
43 str
45 mag
45 dex
55 vit
before it starts costing 2 points per stat.
I would recommend getting 45-50 magic, 55 vit and dump the rest in dex along with +dex genie gear as they add a fixed amount of dex regardless of existing stat points.
Since your genie has BoC I would recommend getting 80 dex at least for it to work reliably. My wizard's 80/100 genie with level 2 +dex gears was able to achieve 80 dex with 50 vit and 50 magic. If your genie has lower LP you could use higher level genie gears or sacrifice some vit/mag.
To be honest I would not stat dex past 100 on any genie. At 100 dex you have 90% chance BoC working which is more than enough. If you stated 120 dex for 100% chance even though it won't fail your genie would have so little vit/mag sustaining yourself on a fight that lasts more than one or two minutes will be hard for your genie especially if you're fighting a BM/sin and especially for the BM need spark to kill them.0 -
I'll probably just cap at 100 then, and put the rest in VIT.
ARGH! I bought a super nice genie, and then found out I can't even use it until I'm that level. ASDFSLDKFJLKJEW!
So do any Wizards use Relentless Courage?0
